  1. A theory of Accord sedan design I have is that they alternate bolder designs w/ conservative designs generation by generation, starting w/ the 2nd gen. 2nd gen--conservative (mid 80s) 3rd gen--more radical (late 80s, pop-up headlights, low nose) 4th gen--conservative, early 90s, squared-off, exposed headlights 5th gen--more radical, more rounded (mid '90s) 6th gen--more conservative, angular (late 90s, early noughts) 7th gen--more radical (mid noughts, pointy headlights, unusual quarter panel shape) 8th gen--more conservative--more upright grille, headlights (late noughts)
  2. Yes, the Amish are interesting to listen to...the part of Ohio I'm from has a large Amish population (36% of the population of Holmes County speak Pennsylvania Dutch, and Holmes County has the largest Amish population in the world).. but it is frustrating to get stuck behind a slow moving buggy when I'm out for a fast drive on the twisty, hilly backroads..
  3. My daily driver Jeep blends in with all the other SUVs in suburbia and the office park, fine by me, it's comfortable and reliable. I do drive my toys ('87 Mustang GT, '96 BMW M3) mainly on the weekends in nice weather, but do drive them to work occasionally...(the lack of cupholders and other modern features limits the driveability of the Mustang
  4. At least he didn't piss and moan about it not being BOF, so maybe he's slowly evolving...or not.
  5. Turns out it's German...according to Wikipedia, Gnadenhutten was founded as a settlement of German and Lenape Native Americans affiliated with the Moravian church. This community remained neutral during the American Revolutionary War, but ninety-six of them were massacred in 1782 by American revolutionaries in retaliation for raids carried out by other bands. A couple of well-known college basketball coaches came from there--Eldon Miller (Ohio State) and Bob Huggins (Cincinatti, WVU).
  6. I'm not sure...Dutch or German. Pronounced 'JUHnaydenhutten', though often shortened to 'Naden'. Used to have a great local ice cream shoppe with incredible peanut butter milkshakes..alas, long gone.
  7. Michigan..I think I've been there... and there's Milan, Michigan and Milan, Tennesee, neither of which are pronounced 'MeeLahn' like the Italian city.. The nearest town to my family's farm in Ohio is Gnadenhutten, often mispronounced...
  8. Cynwyd sounds Welsh... (the vowel-starved country of some of my ancestors).
  9. I pronounce it 'El Ay' (LA).
  10. Trust and honesty is essential in any relationship... with work, any promises/etc I always get in writing..I don't trust people to carry through on verbal promises.... I think one of the thing I like better about contracting is that I don't have to deal with any of the assumptions or promises that I would have as a regular employee... I simply do the work, get paid by the hour, and my free time is mine...if management expects me to work overtime, I get paid for it.
  11. I have thought about moving to Pittsburgh...only 90 minutes from the farm...living there would give me the big city life, techie jobs, and access to the countryside, since I will eventually inherit the farm...
  12. Why not...in my family, it's the Mustang and Cougar ranch (between myself, my brother, and our mom, there are 6 Mustangs and 3 Cougars stored on the 'farm' in Eastern Ohio...
  13. There's a Buena Vista here in Colorado...I've heard both "Byoona Viss-ta" and "Bwena Veesta".. An odd one here is 'Poudre'--name of a valley, a river, a mountain range.... some how, locals pronounce it 'Pooder'.
  14. 1. Get a Camry. 2. Move to suburbia. 3. Be happy.
  15. Sounds like you need to up your meds...when I've felt down, I've found that bumping up my Zoloft dosage smooths out the rough edges...
  16. I love the styling..it's a nice change from all the squarish SUVs GM has been doing....nice to see some surface development on the sides instead of the usual slab sides..and the interior is great. Pricing seems competitive with the MDX and RX...
  17. Well, there is at least a 10-15k price difference between a loaded T&C and a base Caravan, so I would expect a nicer interior in the T&C.
  18. Looks good...I like that berry red color...I esp. like the interior.... price seems reasonable also (plenty of equipment for the price).
  19. It's a Chevy..not supposed to be upscale...
  20. Lame nonsense.
  21. True..until a product has shipped and is at the dealer where a consumer can buy it, it's just development talk...who knows what is really going on within GM, they may be on to something big, or it may just be smoke and mirrors.
  22. I'm glad my Jeep has a full size spare in the trunk floor. I've changed flats myself a couple of times (at home), other times had to call AAA (the lug nuts were on so tight I couldn't get them off with the lousy tiny factory lug wrench).
  23. There is also the Taurus X.
  24. Definitely...the greenhouse reminds me of the current 6 and the front fenders remind me of the new 6. The rear is almost Audi-like in profile, better than the current Euro Accord which has a flat, nearly completely vertical rear..
  25. Yes, the front of the next gen TSX will probably resemble this...
