  1. They world is overpopulated the way it is now...the masses shouldn't be allowed to breed indiscriminately, IMHO.
  2. People with families that large need to learn about birth control....
  3. You are a brave man...I couldn't imagine have a daily driver older than 10-15 yrs old (my Jeep is 7 now)..I just don't want to deal with the headaches (and lack of features) of old cars. My sister has gone the 'all old' route, she sold her '04 Liberty yesterday, keeping the '84 500SEL (175k miles) and '92 300CE (120k miles), but since she's a traveling consultant, she's only home 3 days a week at most, so no daily commute. Those cars have been money pits, though, IMHO.
  4. True...but the Acadia and Enclave are significantly differentiated, at least in interior and exterior design.....but if the Acadia and Outlook were at the same dealer..
  5. Good sentiment and all, but probably 80% or more Impala buyers today don't know or couldn't care less about the name history...it wouldn't matter if it was named 'Lumina' or 'Generica' (which would have been a great name for it) to Avis and most of buyers of the current W-body model.
  6. True, but those are sports cars. With an SUV, a 4dr just makes more sense (more 'U').
  7. Well, with the GP gone after '08, Avis' demand for the Impala and LaCrosse will go up.. but the next LaCrosse is going to be smaller than the current one and Malibu-sized, isn't it? Also, the Impala does have a share of the police car market...if it were rear drive and aggro like the Charger, maybe that share would go up..who knows?
  8. I reached the point long ago where I'm 'comfortably numb' and really don't care anymore. I vote, I pay my taxes, and focus on improving myself and my career and don't worry about all the stuff that's wrong out there..
  9. Not that I'm aware of...I do know the Alero was sold as a Chevy Alero in some markets. On my trips across the pond, I've seen a lot of US cars that are/have been sold in the Europe--plenty of Grand Cherokees (almost always in dark blue like mine), Cherokees, Explorers, Neons, 300s, Sebring convertibles, Voyagers, and less common models like Tahoes, Trailblazers, Chrysler Saratogas ('90s Dodge Spirit variation) and Chrysler GS (early '90s Dodge Daytonas).. I've seen a number of cars that had to be personal imports, like the red '87 Mustang GT I saw in Bath, England; several Lincoln Town Cars and Navigators in London, and a sweet dark blue '90s Buick Roadmaster I saw in Positano, Italy (local mafioso?).
  10. I'm wondering if the H3 'Pickup' is going to be like the concept (2dr with longish bed) or the same short-bed 4dr nonsense as the H2 SUT..
  11. Seems like a 2 row Lambda would be redundant with the Equinox..
  12. The 'negative' image I was referring to is that I usually associate pickups with conservatives and right-wingers...demographics I wouldn't want to be associated with. (I've got my biases, I'll admit..
  13. I saw five lined up on the front row of a Chevy dealer in Phoenix last week, but other than that, I have yet to see one on the road around Phoenix or Denver.
  14. Definitely starting earlier is better...just surprised they have anything that far along at this point (since the current versions just came out).
  15. Yes... I have no need for the obesity, poor driving characteristics, and negative image of a regular truck, but something like that would be useful for me for the occasional Home Depot/Best Buy/etc trip and weekend stuff (mountain bike, skis, etc).. But then again, if I can't get it into my Jeep now, I have it delivered.
  16. I'd be surprised to see GM do 3 year cycles, given that their norm is now 4-5 or so..maybe 2-3 years between MCUs, though.
  17. They should call it the Prius Suburbia. Toyota should create a separate brand called Prius for all their hybrids...
  18. Seems a bit early for them to have engineering mules for such NG models--aren't they at least 4-5 years away from production?
  19. Never heard it either..I assume he meant 'upper middle class liberal'. And of course, since it is was a Boston Globe article, he mentioned Saab, since New England has long been a bastion of Saab fandom..
  20. Dick? Rick Waggoner?
  21. Sounds like an interesting book....a while back I bought the book 'Images of the Rust Belt' by James Jefferey Higgins..pretty interesting, with a focus on the Youngstown and Cleveland, Oh area steel industry ruins..

    2 movies

Over the Xmas week vacation, I saw I Am Legend and Charlie Wilson's War...liked both. Plan to go see The Golden Compass this week w/ some friends. Other than that, I've been watching a lot of old French crime movies on DVD lately.
  23. I love those '60s Lincolns... I grew up around the later Continental/Town Car sedans (my dad bought a new one every few years from '77 through '97). I've thought about getting a 2-3 yr old Town Car as a daily driver..they are a used car bargain and would make a nice comfy cruiser..
  24. Maybe the wealthy...average Germans probably drive FWD Golfs, Polos, Vectras, Astras, Corsas, Focuses, Mondeos, etc...the typical European mainstream models.
