  1. Those 4cyl versions are probably there to keep the dealers happy...the Saturn and Pontiac dealers regard Chevy as their main competition, I think... True, the Camry, ES350, and Avalon are platform mates, like GM has done with the Epsilon siblings and W-body siblings, for example...most every automaker does platform sharing... people seem to commonly confuse cloning/badge engineering (sheetmetal/interiors shared) with platform sharing (only dirty bits shared). Again, though, if GMC doesn't have the crossovers, the dealers will scream...
  2. Agreed..they are definitely improving, but still have a ways to go...better plastics, better fit and finish, more color choices, etc...
  3. Well, it couldn't do any worse..the 6.2 gets what, 12 mpg?
  4. Hilarious...that read like something from The Onion
  5. Ah, yes..those crazy royals..all the royal families of Europe seem to be related to each other..
  6. My experience working in large companies, both public and private, is that they are generally corrupt and fundamentally unethical...I don't trust them to do the right thing. But I'm a cynical contractor, so I'm in it for the money..

Who knows, maybe GM will make Zurich their world headquarters, since Detroit is in a perpetual decline...maybe GM will eventually abandon Michigan.
  9. That is surprising to hear, esp. considering GM's been all about the 4spd automatics for decades...
  10. And she has her own diesel Land Rover Defender..with a manual transmission! (assuming the movie 'The Queen' was accurate on that aspect).
  11. I wonder where Sixty Eight is... I think he'd find this thread interesting (since it's a '59 Buick).
  12. Yeah...I remember a couple years ago when I was whinging about 0F temps here in Denver, my Canadian buddies would be bragging about how it was 50 below and sunny or whatever in SK..
  13. That was a good article..definitely seems like the G8 provides a serious, BMWish driving experience at a budget price...

  15. Hah-hah...I meant England-origin English, commonly called the 'Queen's English'.
  16. Yes, past tense form. It's in Queen's English, but not American English...

Yes..there are sealed '08 Corvette brochures on ebaY w/ BIN prices of $16.95-29.99...
  19. Saw a very unusual car in my office parking lot today... a black mid '80s Buick hearse...it was a stretched (in the rear doors) LeSabre wagon with a padded raised roof...no casket in back, but had chrome flames at the bottom of the grill.. very strange. Unusual ride to set at what seems like a very button-downed, straight laced company (aerospace software company).

  21. I dropped out of models when I was in my teens, picked up the hobby again about 10 years ago... it's a nice relaxing hobby, gets me away the stress and tedium of corporate America... I've got about 1500 unbuilt kits and 250 old ones to restore in my stash. Speaking of the b-pillar, I'm not aware of any models of a '59 LeSabre 2dr sedan, but there is a resin caster out there that makes a sweet 1:25th '59 Olds 88 2dr sedan kit..
  22. I suspect it's a brush paint job...the auction said it had a few issues..glue spots on the decklid, holes from antennas and spotlights, a crack in the left c-pillar. I figure I'll restore it eventually and paint it an appropriate vintage color. I have a bunch of old AMT kits to restore and build eventually..
  23. Haven't they already done that with the current Pontiac-Buick-GMC division?
  24. Yes, but are there heated, chilled, lighted power cup holders.... I need those..
  25. Unfortunately, when I grow my winter hair out, it's partially gray in the sideburns... looking forward to spring to shave my head again..
