Every year in recent years I've tried to sit in and check out a variety of new vehicles at the annual local dealer auto show, and the #1 thing I find as a turn off about many new GM vehicles (under $50k or so) are the damn despair gray or charcoal/black GM interiors...so dour and bland, bland, bland. It's better than the Tupperware/Fisher Price shit they had in the 90s-00s, but still nothing special in the design or materials, IMO. Of course, not to knock on GM only, but pretty much everything 'cheap' (< $50k) these days has a gray or charcoal plastic interior. Some execute the plastics better than others, though.

I like the CT6 and CTS...I could see buying a used one...like the interior and exterior design of both. I can appreciate the styling of the Yukon Denali but I have don't need a full size SUV. They don't have any midsize 2 row SUVs I'd consider over a JGC. The Camaro sounds great as far as the hardware, but the lack of outward visibility, cramped interior, and some styling details make it unappealing to me compared to the Challenger or Mustang. I can appreciate the Corvette for it's performance, like some of the styling aspects, but the rear end is a real turn off in person and in pictures. I'd like to drive one, though. The Colorado and Canyon seem like nice trucks, decent styling, but I'm not a truck guy. As far as a new vehicle, I can't think of anything current from GM I'd seriously consider in my price range, maybe a couple as CPOs.

A buddy in grad school had a red Pulsar NX--the 2nd gen with the t-tops...it was a lot of fun to zip around in....another friend had a red early 90s Maxima SE...always liked those cars...both manuals.

Love the first 4 generations of Zs...my sister owned one of each over the years...'77, '82, '86, and '90 IIRC...I rode in all of them, and drove the last one a fair bit..sweet cars.

The new K5 looks better, IMO....they should have kept the Optima name, K5 is such an uninspired name for a midsize sedan.

I remember when Nissan had a variety of fun cars available, with manuals, and no CVTs...they used to have a lot of good stuff, IMO..

And this looks nothing like the slab-sided 350Z....

Largish RWD sedan w/ a 5.0 V8...this is exactly the sort of sedan Lincoln needs....

One thing I realized about vintage GM paints is that I was confusing Firethorn with Firemist... Firethorn was a specific late 70s color, while Firemist was a style of paint--metallics? I've seen reds and aquas, etc from the 60s-70s referred to as Firemist. Something like that?

Let's see...the Silverado is hideous, the Corvette styling is derivative of every other mid engine sports car of the last 20 years with a few really odd details, the CT5 had bad C-pillar trim that ruins the profile, the new Escalade is dulled down up front and looks like an enlarged XT6, the Malibu is so bland it could get lost in an empty parking lot, the Camaro with it's chop top needs a periscope to see out, etc...lots of forgettable appliances otherwise...not much really stands out....it's.hardly GM's golden age of styling.

Alas, I think that era is long past...GM seems more content to coast on mediocrity and genericism in design these days.

I remember those '76-77 Supremes being very popular when I was a kid..they were everywhere. I always liked the '76-77 442 w/ the slopey grille and fastback roofline..

Here's a good example of colors...in orange, the C8 looks like a cartoonish Cheeto, but looks quite nice in Zeus Bronze...(the bronze w/ the tan interior is exactly how I'd spec one).

My brother used to have a Chevy pickup that looked very much like this..he called it 'Big Bird'..

'65-67 Corvettes, esp. convertibles look great in that pale yellow they had back then. Bright yellow was an iconic color for the '69-70 Boss 302 Mustang. Today, bright orange or bright yellow seem to be popular on the GT models of Porsches and more exotic fare like Lambos, but I prefer Porsches in the more subtle colors, like dark brown or dark green... The upcoming Bronco 2dr looks good in orange, at least in pictures..

Cynical, but true..

I parked beside a 2500HD of that vintage a while back, bright red w/ the flares...and the left front fender had holes as big as my fist in front of and above the flare...holes in the doors, ragged rockers, holes in the rear fenders..yet the red paint was shiny and scratch free on the hood, roof and doors...

Definitely seems to be a good value, and consider the very favorable price/weight ratio and price/size ratio ...

Yes, that's what I was thinking of. I have 1/25th scale model parts of that setup that came as custom parts in the AMT '65 Mercury Parklane kit.

Or the aircraft style controls seen on some '60s concept cars...or the wrist band steering..

Neat..I've been to Tincup...drove that pass with my WJ GC about 20 years ago. The comment about people being miserable reminds me of the Gin Blossoms album New Miserable Experience. I'm on several FB forums for Jeep Grand Cherokees, and it seems 90% of the posts are about upgrading headlights, how to blackout the chrome trim, bigger tires, and diagnosing the check engine light...pretty dull mostly. They look way more similar than different in those two photos...even the steering wheel looks very similar.

The old metal dealer badges from the '60s-70s are kind of neat..it's always interesting too when the badge is quite far from where it's spotted...my Jeep has a Bill Luke Phoenix badge on the back (where I bought it from). I've thought about getting an Orange Coast Jeep Costa Mesa license plate frame as that is where it was originally sold new. My local CJRD dealer here in Cleveland is Spitzer, they now have plastic badges, but they used to have metal ones, with this neat font (which they still use today):

Yeah, tan interior options would be nice..I don't like the 50 shades of gray or black interiors..The current dash design is very similar to that of the '14-18 generation.
