Fall back on some car spotting for November
Robert Hall replied to trinacriabob's topic in The Lounge
Haven't seen a dustbuster van in ages...I remember the product placement they did in the movie 'Get Shorty' when John Travolta's character drove one, and boasted it was the 'Cadillac of minivans'... -
One odd thing I've noticed since the site update is on mobile (iPhone w/ Safari) when I go to the site every post shown is from May 25, 2015. When I go to the site on my laptop (Mac, Safari) the latest posts are showing instead.

One of these Turbo Centurys restomodded with a Grand National or GNX drivetrain would be interesting, something different from the same ol', same ol'.. Of those early turbo Buicks, the one I like is the Le Sabre Turbo Sport Coupe.

Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
Robert Hall replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
Instead of autonomous race cars, I think the future could be remote controlled race cars..drivers sit in simulators and control the cars on track..would be safer for drivers, and likely no different from how it is today since you really can't see much of the driver besides a colorful helmet in the cockpit... -
Strange times.. I bought gas last Friday for maybe the 3rd time since January.

They were certainly different...can't recall the last time I've seen one. Unusual decklid shape. Too bad they weren't hatchbacks.

That's such a Scottsdale car..saw many Bentley convertibles there, usually in the tired white w/ black wheels. The current gen of Bentley Continental GT has a rear quarter shape that reminds me of the old Karmann-Ghia...given that Bentley is a VAG brand, it may not just be coincidence...one of those weird details that once you see you can't unsee....the modern Bentleys do have great interiors...I think the 2dr ht looks good in dark greens.

My little gray LX served me well for 6 years in NE Ohio until I moved to Ann Arbor, MI in '94 where it got totaled 2 weeks after I moved there for grad school. This is the only digital pic I seem to have of it, parked w/ my '87 GT on the farm around June 1990. Interesting article about the Iron Duke Camaro... https://jalopnik.com/chevrolets-first-four-cylinder-camaro-was-really-bad-1825128229

Sheeple (the manipulated)

The truck is probably just an appliance to them...most drivers don't know what is under the hood---just a power unit for their appliance.

I'm pretty sure the only GM models sold by GM in Australia in the 80s were Holdens. Anything else would have been a one-off. And the Firebird was never available in RHD from the factory, so this was something custom. A 4 cyl w/ an automatic in something that big and heavy would have been miserable, even in the early 80s, I suspect---like 20 second 0-60 times... maybe it was an Aussie Knight Rider fan on a budget.

Tzus are nice. At some point, I'd like to have a West Highland White Terrier (Westie) again or an Australian Terrier again...have had them in the past, love their personalities and temperament. Westies are calmer than Aussies, the 3 Aussies we've had tended to be bipolar...sweet and loving one moment, bitey and ferocious the next.

Yes! I was looking at pics of it last night, I like the styling inside and out... very sharp and unique. A bit of randomness..my father would have been 99 today.

Of the 'designer' breeds, I like Yommies (Yorkie-Pomeranian) , Yorkipoos (Yorkie-Poodle) and Morkies (Yorkie-Maltese). For some randomness, saw a TV ad for the GMC Hummer EV...I rarely see TV ads, but I was streaming a documentary on the Ark Royal and it had ads.

Nice 70-72 Vista Cruiser..those look like an available Olds wheel of that era, without the trim rings seen on this '70..
-
I liked my Bronco II. Served me well the 6 years I had it.
-
Probably too small to fit a Hellcat V8, though.

I really don't do off-roading, other than the occasional gravel road, so I don't need all the rock-crawly capability of a Wrangler or Bronco... I suspect w/ the big tires and removable roof the Bronco will be loud on-highway, like the Wrangler...would be a fun weekend toy. The GC is quieter, more of a daily driver all-weather luxo-cruiser which suits my taste.
-
I'm really looking forward to seeing the Broncos, Sport and 'large'. I don't think I'd trade my Jeep on one, but they look fun.

The guy was driving an XT5...said he'd driven Cadillacs for 30 years.. Speaking of Subarus, there was a black Ascent parked behind me at the bank this morning, looking at the tail end in my rearview mirror, I thought it was a Ford CUV of some sort until I noticed the oval emblem wasn't a Ford blue oval...
