  1. Some other cause... overstressed the transmission, rusted lines, etc? Maybe it was a poorly maintained worn out truck...
  2. Chateau Club Wagon would have been an answer for big families in the 70s... Slope? Or the 1st truck backed up into the 2nd one after spewing it's crap...
  3. I bet it won’t have a big touchscreen or trick door handles like a Tesla though.
  4. 100% BEVs is a separate goal and timeline from becoming carbon neutral, the various articles I've read today say they aspire to build 100% BEVs or 100% zero-emission vehicles by 2035.. (not sure if they can achieve 100% zero-emission via ICE?) https://www.cnbc.com/2021/01/28/general-motors-plans-to-exclusively-offer-electric-vehicles-by-2035.html https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/28/business/gm-only-emission-free-cars-by-2035/index.html Will be interesting to see how it goes...
  5. How about a triangular 3 sided steering wheel...
  6. News Flash: GM plans to exclusively offer electric vehicles by 2035. https://www.cnbc.com/2021/01/28/general-motors-plans-to-exclusively-offer-electric-vehicles-by-2035.html Less than 15 years away...about the time I retire...maybe I can pick up a GM EV sports car then to buzz around Miami in...
  7. Yes, in general, but there are plenty of people who have vehicles that sit in their garage or driveway for years or decades and never get driven..
  8. Kind of looks like a 50s concept car steering wheel, without the chrome. I do wonder about the legality here and in other countries. Still the same body outside with trivial fascia changes. Interior is minimalist and bland.
  9. Reminds me of my earliest 'driving' memories w/ my Dad...I'd sit in his lap and steer his '69 Mustang, '67 Cougar or '72 Marquis up and down our 3/4 mile driveway and on the gravel country road running past our property...must have been 1974-1975... I also remember driving his 1961 John Deere 2010 tractor around.. found a pic of one very similar...those old tractors are neat.
  10. My dream car garage would definitely be heavy on the 80s-90s hardware..
  11. It's not just urban areas, though..those diesel buses are running out in suburbia also...
  12. Love that poster...
  13. I remember riding school buses 35 years ago that were diesel...loud, slow, stinky...didn't have A/C either, so had to ride w/ windows open in the S Florida heat.
  14. Yes, software engineering/IT remains a strong field...plenty going on in NE Ohio, and with everyone looking for 100% remote currently, my 3 1/2 years of full time remote experience works in my favor. 'Office Space' felt like a documentary to me..it reminded me a lot of corporate IT in the 90s. A more recent one was the show 'Silicon Valley' which was a brilliant satire of startup company culture.
  15. ...and got a very attractive offer from the small local company this afternoon that I'm mulling over...
  16. Continuing the old Ohio photos themes, here are some pics from Put-in-Bay, a neat little town I like on South Bass Island in Lake Erie. They are known for vintage car races, from the 40s to today.
  17. Steubenville, Ohio (I lived there 1971-1981) Below: Port Washington, Ohio (grew up about a mile outside of town, my family has had property there since 1968). Old pic of the railroad and Ohio & Erie Canal. Port Washington elementary school--- I went there 1977-1984, my sister went there 1968-1971 when my Dad was the district superintendent. Torn down around 2000 replaced w/ a new school.
  18. I believe that recommendation is for the scenario where you are in an untrusted car with randos (like an Uber ride, taxi ride, ride in the back of a police car, etc) or you are in your own car with randos or other resource units not in your immediate household.
  19. ^ heh-heh...'fin tech'= 'financial technology'...banking & financial related technologies.
  20. Not much going down here in NE Ohio..cloudy and 23F today, had the coldest night of the year so far w/ about 19F last night (nothing like the polar vortex lows 2 years ago at this time). Supposed to get snow flurries today and some later this week...been a pretty mild January. On my job search, got about 2 weeks left on my current gig...been through 2nd interviews at two places, had a couple 1st interviews...in talking w/ recruiters late on Friday it sounds like offers may be coming Mon-Tues on a couple of them.. decisions, decisions..both companies in the fin tech space, one a contract w/ a big Western New York company (100% remote) with a traditional software development environment, the other an FTE position with a small local company that is growing and has pretty cutting-edge technology...
  21. The blackout Trax looks neat. After driving my sister's Trax from Florida to Ohio last year, it was actually was pretty decent to drive for a tiny hatchback...not bad at all.
  22. It's Friday...time to relax and look forward to the weekend..
  23. Gas generator to charge the battery on the go?
  24. Yes, Chevy used the California spelling... the Ohio town is spelled Bellaire, and the Florida town is Belleair.
  25. Yes...that's why I've driven GCs for over 20 years...really nice on road as a daily in any weather, and capable off road when I want to get away... the 4Runner was really the only other SUV I looked at closely back in '00 when I bought my first GC.
