It's quite sad, Asheville and W. NC is on my itenerary for my vacation next year...one of my old high school buddies from the Florida Keys has a vacation home in Banner Elk, he's invited me to come visit...they got through the storm relatively unscathed, but so much damage and destruction around them. Beautiful part of the country I want to explore...

Moved the Mustang and Cadillac outside yesterday. Had an electrical issue yesterday in the garage that spooked me. Better safe than sorry. Electrician coming tomorrow.

Saw a Cybertruck in traffic the other day, had a great personalized plate-- 'DMPSTR'.

It’s awful about the damage from Helene. Went through Wytheville, VA, Galax, VA and Mt Airy NC on my recent road trip. I want to explore the mountains of Va and NC, beautiful place. Been thinking of visiting Asheville next year.

Fall and winter is when I enjoy Italian food. There is an Italian deli/grocery less than a mile from my house, I go in there occasionally to get bread, ready to eat pasta dishes for lunch, and pastries. Had delicious cannolis yesterday. Had linner today at the 1815 Tavern in Aurora, nice selection of appetizers.

Was a rainy fall day here in NE Ohio, so a good day to visit a museum. Went down to Warren and toured the National Packard Museum (right next door to the Packard Music Hall where I saw William Shatner on stage Thursday night doing a q&a after a showing of Star Trek II:Wrath of Khan). Beautiful vintage cars in this museum. I wonder if Balthazar would have appreciated it.

The surf was mild most of the time I was there, some rough because it was stormy the last few days of my trip when I went to the Outer Banks. The Outer Banks remind me so much of the Florida Keys where I grew up. Myrtle Beach reminds me a lot of Florida coastal areas, lots of high rises and touristy places. Small towns south of there were pretty interesting—Garden City, Murrell’s Inlet remind me of the Keys. want to explore more of the Carolina and GA coast, I spent a few hours in Georgetown and Charleston, liked them. My sister when she was in MB last winter went to Charleston, Beaufort and Savannah a couple days each, sounds like a lot to explore there.

Saw William Shatner on stage in Warren, Ohio the other evening. Had a showing of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Shatner did a q&a afterward. Very energetic and funny , hard to believe he’s 93.

Wasn't familiar w/ Rival Sons, will have to check them out...I like those two clips. I saw a tour ad for them, saw that Fu Manchu was opening for them....I remember liking Fu Manchu in the 90s. Which suddenly seems like a long time ago..

Last day of summer, saw a gorgeous olive green ‘69 Chrysler 300 convertible rolling along top down.

Not a fan of casinos either...never been a gambler, always found Las Vegas tacky and noisy, overcrowded. About the only time I go to them is for concerts...the local casino (an MGM property) has a nice little concert venue inside, and I do go to shows there several times a year.. The older I get the less I like crowds and like the simple pleasures of experiences like sitting on a beach in the evening listening to the roar of the surf and watching darkness approach.

Went to go out and grab something from the Italian grocery down the street for lunch, and my Jeep wouldn’t start. Hadn’t started it in 2 weeks. Later got out my jump pack, and battery on it was swollen and sticking out of the case. Not good. It was 3 yrs old. Called AAA, they jumped it and the battery was discharged. Got the battery replaced, the old one said Manufactured for. Chrysler, Sept 2013. 11 year old battery! Still had the original battery, longest I’ve had one last.

On my vacation of the last week (9 days, 7 states, 2300 miles) I did see a variety of interesting cars. I saw a number of ‘tuner’ style Japanese sports cars/etc on the road an in parking lots the last few days in the Outer Banks of NC. Some slammed, some with cambered wheels, custom paint, giant wings. Acura NSX, 3 Mitsubishi 3000 GTs—incl a beige Spyder and a black RHD GTO, a couple Evos, a gray R32 Skyline GT-R, lots of Civics. Must have been some event going on. When I was in Myrtle Beach last week, I found out had been Mustang Week—-saw a bunch of sweet Mustangs of all eras on the way into town. Saw a white Ferrari Roma today, first I’d seen. Saw a minty gold ‘83 RX-7 on I-64 in VA (guessed it was an ‘83 because the plate said ‘FINE 83’. Also saw a couple nice 90s 993-era 911s in traffic. Saw a gorgeous white w/ turquoise interior '66 Eldorado convertible rolling top down in Murrell's Inlet SC. I did see a Bronco Outer Banks edition in that sweet green in, of all places, the Outer Banks (Corolla, to be specific). I also toured a car museum outside Myrtle Beach, 100 cars from a collection, heavy on the Mopars..several late 60s-early 70s Hemi cars. Some that stood out was a red '69 LeSabre convertible, an unrestored Verduro green '69 Grand Prix, and a turquoise '63 Catalina 2dr SD. 2300 miles of driving over 9 days and 7 states, alas most of the freeway traffic that I saw was pretty boring. I only saw 2 CT6s--both pre-facelift, one gray, one white. A few 2nd and 3rd generation CTSes (no Vs, coupes or wagons), a sharp dark blue ATS-V coupe, a light silver blue CT5-V, a couple regular CT5s. At a rest stop, a mint condition silver early '00s DTS pulled up beside me as I was getting out, older couple...I said 'Sharp Caddy' to the driver, he said the same to me about my CT6. Talk about stereotypes--I was walking on the beach at Myrtle Beach state park and came back to the lot and there were two C8 Corvettes parked side by side--a black convertible and bright blue coupe--both drivers looked north of 70 w/ white tennis shoes, jorts and polo shirts..they were chatting about their cars..

Before my vacation, I had created a playlist on Amazon Music with 12 hours of tracks from the 70s to today, mostly 80s New Wave, 80s pop and rock, '90s grunge/alternative...heard of a lot of my favorites..when I was in areas w/ poor cell coverage (no streaming) I listened to Sirius XM 80s and 90s channels or podcasts I had downloaded. Thinking I may need to subscribe to OnStar data so I can use the car as a wifi access point.

Back home from my vacation. 9 days, 7 states, 2300 miles. The CT6 performed flawlessly and proved to be a great road trip car. Got a lot of rest and relaxation, a lot of beach time. Enjoyed Myrtle Beach and Charleston, SC, loved the Outer Banks of NC. First pic is in Rodanthe in the Outer Banks after driving through torrential rain (AWD and traction control helped a lot), second pic is this morning in Maryland. Saw a lot of interesting places, lots of good food.

Enjoying my vacation this week. Drive down from Ohio to Myrtle Beach was fine, the CT6 really shines as a road trip car…soaks up the miles. Been getting close to 30 mpg at 70-75 on freeways (occasionally 85-90 passing). Been relaxing and spending a lot of time on the beach. Headed to the Outer Banks in NC on Friday.

I think it's mostly automated, their BS algorithms are doing keyword searches... people also can report things, I do all the time, don't know if they result in time outs.

Not sure what he has now, but I recall he previously had a '90s Town Car and later an '00s DTS... the $30k house reminds me of my family farm, my Dad bought in 1968 for $40k (130 acres, 1859 house). Even with the house in run-down condition (due to my deranged brother) it brought close to $800k at auction in 2022..

Yes, I enjoyed the latest film. All the BHC movies have great soundtracks.

I've noticed that... I have several savings accounts and CDs and have seen the savings accounts dip below 5% interest rates.

No idea, but a lot of Uber drivers seem to getting them, seems to be a trend.
-
Just that it's been very frustrating charging his car... he lives downtown in an apartment--driving for Uber and Lyft while going to grad school, so he has to rely on public charging stations and he finds them hogged by people trying to get 100% and they are often out of order. Could be about the Honda...got out at my house and instead of a normal engine idling sound, I heard this humming. Just haven't been around Accord Hybrids before... or any hybrid for that matter--none in my reality context. (GM 1.5 and 3.6, FCA 3.6, and classic Ford Windsor 5.0 and 5.8 are what I have at home..)

Came out of Ace Hardware this morning, saw a gorgeous black CT5-V series parked near my CT6. On the way home, saw a gorgeous copper w/ white interior '62 de Ville convertible parked in a small lot, top down. Beautiful weather today.
