As far as full sizers w/ 6 cylinders, I think the only '71-76 GM B-bodies with 6s would be the Chevy Biscayne/Bel Air in '71-73 (a 3spd manual was standard w/ the 6!), and the '76 Buick Le Sabre had an available Buick V6. That must have been quite the slug.

I do recall looking at a few cars w/ my Dad when I was a teenager, he didn't like the idea of me driving an old car or something with high miles...especially since he was paying for it. Circa 1986, looked at a '67 Galaxie 2dr (clean), a ''79 Cordoba (rust free, a dented rear quarter, he didn't like Chrysler products), a dark blue '79 Eldorado (sharp car, but some bubbly rust, too many miles), a yellow '80 Lincoln Town Car (too many miles). So after I got my license I drove his '84 Ford Escort diesel for about a year until he bought me my new '87 Mustang GT. Then in '88 when I went off to college, he bought me an '86 Mustang LX (4 cyl, used with 10000 miles) since the GT was too nice to leave outside at college..

Friends of mine that are into camping have a small--around 20 foot travel trailer (bumper tow, not a fifth wheel) and they pull it with an early '00s Ford F350 Super Duty. They recently bought a Hyundai Palisade, it could probably pull it. They also recently bought a fixer-upper 1981 Bluebird Wanderlodge motorhome, around 30 foot. I grew up camping in motorhomes, I think I'd probably go for a small motorhome if I ever got into RVing again...rather drive something than tow a trailer.

As a random aside, wouldn't it have been cool if they had made a 2dr on the Fleetwood 75 wheelbase....long deck or longer hood...

Another anomaly, a LWB C-body. I like how the '71-72 Fleetwood Sixty Specials had the funky exposed B-pillar between the doors. According to the Book of Knowledge, the Sixty Specials are C-bodies... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadillac_Sixty_Special

Pontiac had two wheelbase for their B bodies for many years, but I've never seen the longer wheelbase referred to as a C-body..pretty sure it's considered a LWB B. The Catalinas and Bonnevilles seemed to always have the B-body rooflines for 2drs, 4drs, sedans and hts, never the C-body roofline except for the Grand Ville. Though in reality, was there really a meaningful difference between a B- and C- body besides wheelbase and roofline? Anyway, fun stuff to geek out about.. the B vs C roofline difference even continued in the FWD era, w/ the H vs C bodies from the late 80s through the 90s..

Yes, as did the Olds Starfire. There were always anomalies, like the Chevy Caprice/Impala Custom rooflines from the late 60s onward. I'm talking standard B and standard C rooflines..applicable to 4dr sedans and 4dr hts also..the C- rooflines were more formal and squared. This is without going down the rabbit hole w/ Hollander manuals, just from eyeballing over the years in person and in photos.

Wasn't the Bonneville considered a LWB B-body? I thought only Buick and Olds had both B- and C- bodies. Then there was the Grand Ville in the 70s that had C-body style rooflines but was considered a B-body.

The interesting factoid is the difference between B- and C-body rooflines continued as far as I can tell across each generation, all the way to the end in '84...

An example would be the B hardtop rooflines vs C hardtop rooflines of a given year, like ‘61. The C has a more squared C-pillar and back window shape compared to B. Olds 88 vs 98 example... Likewise for '62-64....the C body has a more squared off roofline compared to the rounded B body roofline.

Neat curvature to the front door uppers... interesting how these vintage ambulances always seemed to have unique, non-oem glass and rooflines. As far as the '59-60 GM greenhouses, it's interesting that there didn't seem to be any distinction between B- and C-bodies for most of the rooflines, unlike '61 forward where there were distinctly different 2dr hts, 4dr hts, 4dr sedans, etc between B- and C-bodies. The Urus is just an Audi Q8 in Lamboish sheetmetal, though...nothing special. It lacks the true weirdness of the LM002...doesn't even have a Lambo engine--has an Audi engine.

While listening to a true crime podcast, in each episode I hear the dopey GM 'Generation E' ad...some generic Millennial woman intoning about 'optimism instead of exhaust' and something instead of the 'roar of an engine'...no mention about the cost, of course...

Maybe the biggest change after the FWD and aero shift was the last 25 years where we have seen the rise of SUVs and CUVs to market dominance, pushing aside traditional 3 box cars... Will the current decade be the decade of a big shift to EVs?

The changes from 1980-1990 was pretty drastic with the FWD-ification and downsizing. Not as much of a styling change, but compare the differences between say a 1980 Grand Prix and a 1990 Grand Prix. Going back further, with those Plymouths the styling difference from a 1951 to 1961 was quite drastic, as was from 1941 to 1951.

Pretty incredible how much the styling changed in a decade, compared to the space monster styling of the '61.

It is funny how 3 divisions each developed their own 455...yet Chevy had to be different and do a 454. No one tried to one-up with a 456? Of course, Cadillac had to be bigger and did a 500..
