Watched 'Lethal Weapon 3' tonight, hadn't seen it ages..not as good as the first two, too much Joe Pesci (who drove a red Allante in it). Couple good chase scenes, and there was a blue '69 Coronet w/ a six pack hood, a red '69 Chevelle, red '91-92 Mustang GT convertible, various Porsches and M-Bs...best scene as far as cars was a scene in a garage with a tubbed '56 Chevy and a wild chop top Chevy Nomad with a blown engine sticking out the rear window...googling turned up pics of it, apparently it was this car:

Saw an unusual new Silverado today---a dark gray regular cab longbed 4x4, with small wheels and tires...didn't realize they were building regular cabs anymore. Not sure of the trim level, but it had chrome bumpers, black steel wheels w/ chromey hubcaps. Had some sort of badging on the front fenders, couldn't see the front end.

Sounds like Florida Man has competition from Arizona Man. https://www.autoblog.com/2021/04/19/tire-slasher-severed-finger/?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly9sb2dpbi5hb2wuY29tLw&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAHzMi2wUT6KgcDo3NIyYGv0qlF96qoOy0uo2vwzWgS1dbZMEqIgD37BlAnnufs_Tt5nvo6JNsqHxWc74nRK0cn8ltsZWb-dZQEn-aM-D5pOAhzNJ77uTpQYq8o-2hdeOCVBj4DztU5wL0YXg0g3TQW1Ww1HeTbNUWAeSWMVSQItI

Speaking of GM CUV quarter windows, I recall sitting in a Terrain at the auto show last year, the quarter window was but a small rectangle, reminded me of an opera window on a '70s personal luxury coupe. With the thick pillars and small quarter windows on any modern CUV or SUV, a back up camera and large side mirrors are quite useful. Though in my Jeep, I still find myself doing the over the right shoulder look back when merging on one local freeway where a ramp from another freeway merges from the left and I have to immediately cross 3 lanes to traffic to get to my exit. Back when I was into bicycling, I used a hitch mount bike rack on my WJ GC. Worked great.

Just watched 'Lethal Weapon 2', haven't seen it in ages---more Oldsmobiles, and the great scene w/ Mel Gibson in a GMC 3500 extended cab dually pulling down a stilt house...

I've never really needed 4drs, but they are definitely more practical and easier to get in and out of than long 2dr doors (esp. in tight parking spaces). It's been over 20 years since I had a 2dr as a daily driver--at one point in life, I owned 2 2dr coupes and a 2dr SUV at the same time...

I've never been into sedans beyond midsize and large luxury and performance sedans, but I really miss 2dr coupes..so few on the market....

Watched the original ‘Lethal Weapon’ today, hadn’t seen it in maybe 25 years. Good 80s buddy cop flick, lots of 70s-80s cars—several Olds 88s-98s.

That's a really odd specific memory from long ago...but I totally get it. I can remember details of cars and the places I saw them long ago. Or TV car ads I've seen long ago. Like I still remember seeing an unrestored dark green '68 Shelby GT500 KR convertible at a car show at Tappan Lake, Ohio in the mid 80s...I was maybe 14-15 at the time. It had PA plates and I was with my folks and brother, chatted w/ the older woman that owned it. That same day was the time my brother had a whole bottle of mustard explode on him while eating a hamburger at the diner where the car show was held... The mind works in odd ways---connecting seemingly random things together. A bit or randomness yesterday...was talking w/ my sister about various basketball players of the past she liked and I liked--we both liked the '80s Lakers w/ Kareem-Abdul Jabbar and Magic Johnson since it was Jabbar's birthday...and that led to me remembering an Audi ad from the 80s--couldn't recall if it was Oscar Robertson or Wilt Chamberlain--a quick google turned up the Audi ad was w/ Oscar Robertson. I remember seeing that on TV in the mid 80s, maybe only once or twice. Weird. I had take out Kung Pao Chicken last night...I do remember that.

For shit like that I'd hire a landscaper, who would haul such content in a dump truck or trailer.

Review: 2020 Hyundai Sonata Limited 1.6T and Sonata Limited Hybrid

A stylized yet generic appliance for generic people of suburbia. -
Been streaming 'City on a Hill' this week, a solid crime drama set in the early 90s in Boston w/ Kevin Bacon. Bacon is very good as a slimy veteran FBI agent. Almost through the first season, the 2nd season is currently streaming on Showtime. Also recently watched a solid 4-part documentary about the unsolved 1990 Gardner Museum art theft, 'This is a Theft' on Netflix.

I like those old plates....too many modern plates are so bland. I like the old white on red Arizona plates, the white on green Colorado plates, and various past California plates. I still have a couple sets of the white on green Colorado plates from the late 90s before they reversed the colors. This '76 Buick looks good w/ the yellow NY plates.

Which is similar, but different to 'eeeeehhhhh' which is more of a groan, one of my standard catchphrases... I can always spot a Canuck in my midst in IT when someone says 'JAAAH-vah' instead of 'Jaa-va'.

My sister and I got our 2nd shots of Pfizer on Monday, quick and easy. I really haven't had any side effects, a bit of fatigue but that is probably due to being awoken at 4:30-5 am 3 days in a row by the dogs. She had some all-over-soreness and out-of-it feeling, but slept it off.

Yeah, I've hauled small shrubs (2 ft high) in my Jeep, anything taller I'd have to get delivered. Likewise for an appliance...I can't carry a refrigerator. I'd get something like that delivered and installed, like the washer and dryer from Home Depot I bought a few years ago. The only times I've actually needed a truck (to move furniture and boxes to/from a storage unit, etc) over the years, I've just rented a truck or van from UHaul. I don't need a truck on a regular basis, thus I have no need for one in my reality context. And pickups are too long to fit in my garage (anything over 200" would probably not fit). I have a Weathertech mat w/ a couple layers of cargo liners over it, last weekend had 4 bags of mulch, 3 bags of fertilizer, 2 bags of grass seed and 1/2 dozen stone pavers back here. In the past, I've had 8 bags of mulch w/o folding down the back seat...plenty adequate for my reality.
-
I like it...this is the only kind of pickup I would really need for real-world use...perfect for Saturday trips to Ace or Home Depot to get mulch and other yard stuff..but still as usable as an SUV. If I could get something like this from Jeep in a Grand Cherokee...

There are many things. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and everyone has an opinion. '50s cars don't do it for me...before my time. 60s-70s cars I can relate to, but my sweet spot is the 80s-90s. I like all sorts of cars, from the US and abroad. I try and avoid xenophobia with cars...not partial to any particular brand or country of origin. How a car drives is irrelevant to the styling; many 60s-70s cars are horrid to drive by today's standards, many vintage exotics look gorgeous but are ergonomic/packaging nightmares.

Item: 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Duramax
Robert Hall replied to balthazar's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
Hope it goes well w/ the new GMC..speaking of ordering trucks, recently talked w/ a friend/former coworker in Phoenix that ordered a new Ram 2500, waited a couple months for the build, then it was demolished immediately on arrival at the dealership. He hadn't even gotten to see it in person yet. Apparently, it was backed off the transport truck which was parked in a turn/middle lane of a busy 6 lane street in front of the dealer then as they are pulling into the dealer, it was broadsided by a dump truck. I can picture what happened, this was the same dealer I bought my Jeep at. Now he's waiting on a replacement... -
Saw a blue-gray Mustang Mach-E in traffic yesterday, first one I'd seen...looked sharp...also saw the rustiest Escalade I've ever seen...2nd gen, around 2005 in that pearl white that was popular then...big rust spots and holes on the doors, rear quarters, front fenders, hatch..

Lots of Italians, Sicilians, and Greeks in Steubenville, Ohio where I spent my childhood. Our next door neighbors had immigrated from Palermo.

When I was a kid in the 70s, next door neighbors had a gold '72 Olds 98 4dr ht like this, and a black '73 Cadillac Sixty Special.

I'd love to have a Testarossa. And a Ford pickup. Maybe a '92-96 style or a '67-69. Wouldn't mind having a '90s Bronco also....test drove one back in '96, thought seriously about buying one then.
