Which had some differences from the Buick 215 V8 (which went on to be the Rover V8). I only knew about this engine from reading about its later use in creating the Repco V8 used in the Brabhams that won the '66-67 F1 championships.

I don't think parts would interchange between a Pontiac or Olds V8. But within Olds and Pontiac, there as only one engine family for a generation of engines was my understanding...i.e. no distinct small block or big block. i.e. a Pontiac 301, 350, 400, 455 had a lot of similarities. Or not. I remember once trying to understand the byzantine world of Ford V8s. Like all the 351s.

I wonder what the Model 3 is classed as. It like it might be smaller inside than the C-segment luxury sedans (ATS, C, 3, etc) I could see that. Small interior, huge exterior. It seemed to carry its long hood, long tail shape better than some of the Rancheros--the 77-79 Rancheros had such long overhangs and a pinched looking cabin.

It's really tiny---164 inches long. That's a subcompact. It's only slightly larger than the Sonic hatchback, and smaller than the Trax (subcompact CUV). Definitely too small to be a compact. I don't know, I like luxury SUVs over ordinary cars as far a daily driver. I'd take my Jeep over any midsize sedan. Likewise, I'd probably take an GLS, Escalade or Navigator over most full size sedans for a daily driver...

A subcompact economy car like the Bolt would be a downgrade relative to most anything, though.

Maybe a few people are restoring or restomodding mid 80s Cutlasses, like the '83-84 Hurst/Olds or '85-88 442? Those were sharp cars back in the day...

Cars that should come be brought back (And how)
Robert Hall replied to Zane Wylder's topic in The Lounge
Yeah, the 2nd gen Avi was basically a Burban without the roof behind the rear doors and different quarter panel ends/taillights, tailgate, and the mid gate etc. On the same long wheelbase, I think. The 1st gen had more unique panels up front. -
Chevrolet News:Chevrolet Drops A New Turbo-Four Into 2019 Silverado

Ford was hyping it like it was *much* lighter, but I don't think the difference in reality was 500lbs or more.. -

I wonder how much weight difference between the new Silverado and F150 would be, for the same body style and bed length. -

I know the personal luxury coupe genre is long dead, but a modern Thunderbird, modern Monte Carlo and Regal coupes (actual 2dr coupes)--could be interesting. And to go wild, a Cordoba for Chrysler. And an Eldorado for Cadillac--a large coupe based on the CT6 would be nice. Something in the style of the Elmiraj concept. -
Was a bad era for V8s...170hp for the 301 HO... the base 301 2bbl for Catalinas and such was a 135hp screamer...
-
301 was a Pontiac V8 also, wasn't it? Around through 81... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontiac_V8_engine

Yeah, '79 had the 400 and 403; 80-81 had the 301 Turbo.

Sweet.. I saw a Buick today w/ a New Jersey plate...a dark blue current gen LaCrosse in my neighborhood.

I see quite a few ProMasters around in various liveries and noticed how square they are. Front is rounded, but the rear doors and rear body and glass are all very cubist. Maybe Ram could spice things up w a retro 70s style Street Van package w custom wheels, shag carpet, etc.

Yeah, it's a beautiful crossover... really like the exteriors and interiors of the current Volvos...really like the V90 wagon also. Out of my price range now, but a CPO down the road, never say never...

EVs and Hybrids are interesting, just nothing that really appeals to me right now...we'll see in 5-10 years how the market looks.

That it does.. going for a drive on winding roads through a national park yesterday in my 5000lb Jeep w/ the windows down, sunroof open and stereo cranked up (listening to The Cure) was fun. Great Spring weather and greenery now... 2.5 sec 0-60 in a Tesla sounds like a lot of fun...

My sister sent me a couple pics of her rental car from this weekend. Alfa Romeo Giulietta. She's working in the Netherlands for a couple weeks, took this sightseeing around the Netherlands, Belgium and into France the last couple of days. Said it handled well and was comfortable.

Saw a clean silver blue '78-80 Grand Prix when out and about yesterday. No vinyl top, same color as the '77 that's for sale around here. I can't recall the last time I saw a Le Mans, Grand Le Mans or Grand Am of that era...many years..decades, maybe.

Mitsubishi News: Mitsubishi is Ramping Up Their U.S. Lineup
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Mitsubishi
Sounds like they have had an agreement w/ Renault and Nissan since 2017. Nissan acquired a controlling interest in Mitsubishi Motors in 2016. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renault–Nissan–Mitsubishi_Alliance- 7 replies

Was sitting in a restaurant at lunch today and there was a very rusty blue '90s Olds Ciera parked across the street. Guy gets in it, and I saw the floor under the driver's seat sag.. Also saw one of the '19 Ford Rangers out on the freeway...silver 4dr, w/ a Michigan plate. Good looking pickup.
