  1. I bought a couple Wal-Mart EverStart batteries for about $85 each for the old cars..seem to function fine. I recently discovered my Jeep still has the OEM circa 2014 battery...had it checked at the dealer last month when I went in for an oil change, it doesn't need replaced yet...can't believe a battery would last that long (it only spent about 4 months in AZ in 2017). Still starts every time..
  2. Chrysler Corp had quite a few concept cars built by Ghia and other Italian houses in the early-mid 50s. Seen a few at auctions and concours shows.
  3. Agreed with the Monte Carlo, but I think the Malibu was a cleaner design and looked better than the goofy slant back 2dr and 4dr Century and Cutlass that Buick and Olds respectively fielded for the their downsized '78 A-bodies, IMO.. Regarding this particular MC, that tan w/ beige interior seems like it was ubiquitous across GM in 1978...I've seen so many GM models of that year in that color over the years...
  4. ^ Another Andrea Doria detail--the 1956 Chrysler Norseman concept car (built by Italy's Ghia) was in the hold of the ship. Was heading from Italy to the US to appear at car shows. Apparently was a fully running show car, that cost approx $150k to build in 1956.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_Norseman
  5. ^ My sister was a frequent flyer for business for 20+ years, and after the 'Miracle on the Hudson' she recognized Captain Sullenberger, had flown on several of his flights previously...she's done with business travel, and soon likely done w/ corporate life after 40+ years in the game, with the last 20 mostly in management consulting.
  6. The rear quarter is my favorite part, esp. in profile. I like the long hatchback shape, instead of a predictable 3 box sedan profile. Huge blind spots, though..kind of wonder if it needed windows in the back hatch side triangles...looks like the upper taillights are part of the hatch (the seam that goes down the side)...I like the red interior, instead of the usual despair gray or black that GM does so much of..
  7. Yeah, it's still going on and on...forever COVID, it seems...booster shots will be an annual thing like flu shots probably. I'm still cautious around crowds and indoor events.. life goes on... I still do a lot of take out/delivery of food, but occasionally go to a restaurant, esp. if they have outdoor seating...and have been to 1/2 dozen concerts so far this summer..trying to have some normalcy, cautiously.
  8. Context--keep in mind when that article was written...in Dec 2020 vaccines weren't readily available.
  9. ^ interesting…it will have a wheelbase longer than the Traverse.
  10. I wonder if the ICE Blazer will continue as is or if this replaces it completely..
  11. Think how close together gas stations are now...charging stations should be just as close together or on the same sites. Do any gas station chains have charging stations? Or not because big oil is so antagonistic towards EVs?
  12. Then maybe it is. I don't know how the dirty bits are configured on something like this.
  13. ^ just wondering out loud, will their be availability of used or wrecked EVs down the road to customize like that, or will EV makers want to buy them back to recycle and control access to parts and maintenance...
  14. FWD is simpler for the rental spec and lower trims, probably. And since they have an AWD version, doing a version that is RWD only probably is straight forward and not a large cost. I have no idea what the dirty bits are like on a FWD or AWD EV--but I assume AWD in this context is simpler than in an FWD/AWD or RWD/AWD ICE vehicle since you don't have a transverse engine/transmission or longitudinal engine/transmission to deal with..
  15. Gives them a marketing advantage over all the other FWD appliances out there.
  16. Looks good..very normal without the forced weird some EVs have...and I like that it appears to have normal door handles, rather than the non-standard door handles many EVs have. A door handle is a door handle, doesn't need pointless complexity like on the Teslas or Mach-e..
  17. In 36 years of driving, I've been stopped once for doing one (in Ann Arbor, Mi at 2 am after a party about 27 years ago...
  18. Right turn on red is legal on most streets and roads I frequent in NE Ohio, and I’m guilty of making California rolls (slow down and turn on red without stopping).
  19. ^ maybe enough legroom, but would probably need 6 inches more headroom for you to fit comfortably? ?
  20. Looking forward to the reveal...looks slick...love the fastback roofline and sharp creases.
  21. Not a BK fan... I don't eat burgers that often, but I do like a McD's Quarter Pounder w/ cheese and bacon. I miss In n' Out and Habit Burger from living in AZ. Not eating nearly as much red meat as I once did, but I did have great steak from Morton's on Sunday.
  22. Scheduled to get my 2nd Pfizer booster on Friday.
  23. Looking good for 8 yrs old, 65k miles. Washed, waxed, interior cleaned and detailed, summer mats in.
  24. Been cleaning out my Jeep today, all the stuff in there from 5 months of mud farming...heavy tow rope, string trimmer, shop vac, all sorts of tools, 200 feet of extension cord, flash lights, lanterns, etc. So grubby...taking it to the local fancy car wash for wash, wax and interior detailing this afternoon... Hope to get back to the normal 50-100 miles per week instead of almost 1000 per week...
  25. Yep. It went in two parcels—-like 27 acres with the house and buildings and 98 acres or so for the rest of the land. Exceeded the estimates.
