  1. And there was a Continental twenty years ago, the Taurus based Continental got it's 3rd generation around '98, but those always seemed uncommon even when new...
  2. Buses seem like such an anachronistic form of transport, but they do seem to thrive in some metro areas. Last time I rode a bus with any frequency was over 20 years ago, in Ann Arbor, MI...I used the U of Michigan campus bus service to shuttle between the north and central campuses all the time. In my work life, I've pretty much always driven (usually an SUV). I do like rail...when I lived in Denver I used the light rail often to go downtown from my suburban neighborhood.
  3. Full size pickups have become the modern BOF full size family sedan..available in a variety of trim levels, with a variety of trunk sizes.:) And full size SUVs are the BOF full size wagons of today (they need the fake woodgrain side trim option, IMO). One bit of random related weirdness--on eBay today I'm seeing an ad for the new Ram..in Spanish. Deja Tus Limites Atras..La Nueva Ram 1500.
  4. 20 years ago, the traditional full size luxury sedan market was in decline..GM had just cancelled the Buick Roadmaster and Cadillac Brougham in '96, the Town Car was still playing to an aging and shrinking demographic. The luxury SUV market was small and on the rise--Lincoln Navigator, Lexus LX, one Range Rover model, and the Germans were just getting started. Lots of market change over the last 20 years.
  5. Unusual to see a 6 spd automatic in whatever that is. Parking brake on the right? Ignition next to a rotary dial...hmmm. Engine turned dash trim. T-handle controls. Looks 60s...makes me think Facel. Edit-not Facel. I see German writing on the text bubble.
  6. That looks like a '73 911 Carrera RS or an RS replica. That ducktail was exclusive to the RS IIRC. Those are worth serious coin. Looks a lot like this one http://fantasyjunction.com/cars/770-Porsche-911 Carrera RS-2.7 litre Flat 6-Cyl
  7. It is funny and kind of ironic, considering the police have laptops in their cars..
  8. This looks a lot better than the Elantras sold here.
  9. They both are trying too hard stylistically to be weird. The previous gen Silverado was at it's best in 14-15, then it got overly busy w/ the '16 MCE. The new one just has too many fussy front end details and random contours on the fenders, IMO. I like the front end styling on the '14-15 and the previous generation from around 2010. Clean, no nonsense. Not trying to be agressively wierd.
  10. Seems like an opportunity for criminal enterprise also...chemists making synthetic street drugs could get into the battery game..more profitable long term probably.
  11. Sounds like battery makers need to work on coming up with a synthetic lithium alternative..
  12. Yeah, the full bling version would be the Kardashian Signature Edition... an understated version would make sense also..
  13. Cadillac should offer an over the top interior package for the Escalade.. use the ESV, remove the 2nd row of seats, make the third row have recliners w/ ottomans, marble floors w/ persian rugs, Doric column pillar trim, statuaries, alligator skin leather w/ leopard print inserts, etc. Go as crassly blingy as they can.
  14. Not yet. Been there 6 years. Was Ghosn's idea for them to focus on the China market.
  15. And Infiniti moved their HQ to Hong Kong a few years ago..
  16. Saw a sharp silver 64 Olds 88 2dr ht gliding along this evening, and a sharp bright blue Chevy SS.
  17. I wonder if you can get tempered glass screen protectors for car touchscreens like you can for phones and tablets.
  18. Oh well..didn't Lincoln do something like this back when Ford had PAG? Moved to Orange County---Irvine IIRC...
  19. I saw the concept in person at an auto show back then, IIRC. I like the design of it over allexcept for the jutting lower front fascia. The roofline and doors remind me of the 2011+ Chargers a bit...(exaggerated, but similar themes).
  20. Silverado outside mirrors, a roof bulge, and a periscope would make the Camaro more drivable for you..;)
  21. Sharp...do you plan to have yours look like this, or are you going to keep the patina?
  22. The front of the Camaro doesn't look bad on a dark gray or black car...with dark colors all the black plastic up front blends in better...but on a white, yellow, bright red car...ugh..
  23. I liked the awkwardness..proof he is a human and not a cyborg. I think like too many startup founders, he takes on too much of the day-to-day operations and planning himself and doesn't delegate to experienced leaders enough. Successful companies are not one-man operations. Couple that with what appears to be ADHD and new-idea-every-minute thinking seems to work against him.
  24. Elon is never dull, always interesting to listen to...
  25. Motivation, stamina, being a dreamer with a practical side, maybe? I've never been motivated strictly by money...and I know my physical and mental limits..I burn out from working too many hours...I can't do 60-90hr weeks like I could do when I was younger.. or the kind of single focus obsessive lifestyle I've experienced in PhD life or startups..
