That big open space in front of the center seems weird....yes, w/ the EV platform they don't need a large transmission tunnel, but some sort of storage compartment there would be useful rather than dead space...

Drove by an exotic car dealership w/ a variety of Ferraris, Lamborghinis, at least one McLaren in the showroom. Saw this black Ferrari 488, then a new '19 Chevy Silverado for the first time. Looks better in person, esp. in gray w/ the chrome trim. The front fender edge and grille area is still too busy, too many cutlines and large gaps, IMO. Also saw a gray Bentley Continental GT on a windy, hilly road appropriately named Bentleyville Road. And I saw so many Audis...mostly silver and gray. Audis seem to far out number Mercedes and BMWs in the fancy areas of eastern Cuyahoga County, Ohio (the small towns all look like the North East/New England more than the Midwest). And as a random aside, I also discovered there are many horse farms in eastern Cuyahoga County, something I didn't realize... Also drove by a house where someone had an affinity for GM 2 seaters—-a black Allante, a red Fiero, a silver Fiero, a gold Reatta, and a red C4 Corvette all in various states of disrepair w/ grass growing up around them.

After a cold and gray Thanksgiving, took advantage of warmer weather and sunshine to go for drive today, over to charming Chagrin Falls. Saw a black Ferrari 488 parked there. Went from there up to Geneva-on-the-Lake to the Old Firehouse Winery for linner and wine tasting, bought a few bottles. Walked down to the beach behind the winery, enjoyed a few minutes of listening to the waves lapping at the shoreline..

Hyundai Palisade leaks out ahead of LA Auto Show: Comments

Curious also about the dimensions..hard to tell from the photos..I have a feeling it will be closer to the Explorer and Highlander in size. -
I was thinking Chrysler, but I didn’t go back far enough. Was looking at dash pics from 57-60.
-
Interesting. What kind of car is that ? I don’t recognize the badge or layout.

Found this pic of a model of a Japanese train engine. The front seems inspired by some mid 60s American car headlight and grille arrangements... Googling turned up a Wikipedia article on the JNR EF66. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JNR_Class_EF66 The locomotive prototype was finished in 1966, production started in 1968 and 39 are still in service hauling freight in Japan.
-
Interesting..what's up with the springs around the steering column?
-
It will be interesting to see how this engine option is accepted by the market. Still seems like a radical idea to have a 4cyl in a full size truck..

Maserati Hopes For A Reversal of Fortune :Comments
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Maserati
Fiat cars worldwide were down to approx 1.1M in 2017, from 1.6M in 2010. Fiat Commercial was up to approx 450k in 2017. That is still a lot of sales... -
Subaru Plugs-In the 2019 Crosstrek: Comments

Yes, kind of pricey..that's in the upper Outback price range. I wouldn't buy one of these over an Outback at the price. -

Curious about the platform...I assume it's a unibody FWD/AWD w/ the short front wheel to door distance. Though wasn't the Veracruz BOF RWD/AWD a decade ago? -
No surprise, these are major metro areas with a large pool of tech talent, and likely to attract more tech talent. Now I'll probably get recruiters contacting me often about Amazon gigs in those locations. I get recruiters several times a month pinging me about gigs at Amazon in Seattle and Tempe. On a related topic/rant, yes it's good to have in-demand, marketable skillz--but it gets tiresome when people contact me through Linkedin w/ positions in Columbus, Cincinnati, Atlanta, etc when it's clear from my profile that I live in the Cleveland area... I still get a lot of people contacting me about gigs in Denver, though I haven't lived/worked there in over a decade...

Well, it's definitely not bland anymore. And in white w/ the black roof and red interior, it really stands out amongst the black, silver or white generic midsize appliances.

Except for the GTI, Civic Si & Type R, Focus ST and RS and a few others, this is a class of car that thrives on boring...just as their buyers want it. -
Industry News: What Vehicles Depreciate the Slowest?

True, anything 15 years old/150k miles is going to have issues. Been there, done that. Won't don't it again. -
Industry News: What Vehicles Depreciate the Slowest?

Real SUVs to me are on dedicated RWD/AWD platforms or truck BOF construction. Wranglers, Grand Cherokees, the larger Range Rovers, Land Cruisers, Tahoes, Escalades, etc. Not weak transverse engine FWD car-based CUVs. Vehicles such as a Wrangler or G-class are certainly more ruggedly built than some transverse engine FWD appliance...and off road capable.
