Chevrolet News:Chevrolet Asks Camaro Owners About A Hybrid Camaro
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
Automakers have to evolve to survive. Powertrain technology, like all technology, evolves over time. If transportation modes didn't evolve, we'd still be using horse and buggy like the Amish who choose to literally live in the past. Who wants to live like that? -
Found this pic and article over on Allpar...https://www.allpar.com/news/2018/12/the-next-generation-ram-heavy-duty-without-camo-43083 Looks good....lots of chrome, but tasteful and not aggressively ugly like the new Silverado HD.

Something red with holes. Looks like a strange custom wheel, but probably not. -

That would kill the economy. What percentage of consumer goods are imported? Pretty high I think...- 27 replies

My only experience driving cars w/ 4 wheel drum brakes (non-power) were driving my folks' '67 & '68 Cougars in the late 80s-early 90s. Both are strangely equipped for Cougars--only option being an AM radio on each. 289 2bbl in the '67, 302 2bbl in the '68. 4 wheel drum brakes, manual steering, 3spd manuals. Drove them around hilly E. Ohio area around the family farm and through various small towns, local state routes, no freeways. My Dad and Mom loved driving them, but I found them very awkward w/ the drum brakes, heavy steering, lack of seat or steering wheel adjustment, etc. Their 3rd '68 Cougar (a '68 XR-7 w/ automatic and 390 4bbl, power steering, front disk brakes) was more pleasant to drive.

The High Country version is marginally better, but still too tall. It looks like the top of the hood is 5 feet off the ground. The front of the body could use about a 6 inch sectioning. It looks like normal sized humans would need to use ladders or scaffolding to check the oil, change wiper blades, etc.

That is nothing new, though...GM has had these issues for decades.

GM News: Ms. Barra Goes to Washington
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
True, true...my childhood hometown down the river from there (Steubenville) lost a ton of mill jobs in the 70s, never recovered and has maybe 1/2 of it's population left today. Same story anywhere that a city has a dying, old-economy industry as it's main employer(s) and doesn't diversify.- 27 replies

More than the Nautilus and less than the Navigator? -

True...Liberty was the replacement for the XJ Cherokee, though. It was still a RWD/4WD SUV. -

True, the CUV (FWD car based) trend has really just been the last 10-15 years. GM still had midsize RWD truck based SUVs a decade ago... -

Not sure if I'd say 'finally', the SUV/CUV game has been strong for 20 years... -
As a long time Browns fan, it's nice to actually see the Browns have something to cheer for again. Still a Broncos fan from the decade+ I spent in Colorado, though.

Cool..I love Prince. Saw in Vegas years ago.

Yeah, the 'U', etc...

That's pretty funny....for some reason, Mr CtG, I thought you were a Millennial (under 30). Mistaken..

That's better, less vomit-inducing than the regular one or the 1500.

Jeep News: Why No Turbo-Four in the Jeep Gladiator?!
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Jeep
Maybe packaging issues? The RAM has a lot more space than the Wrangler/Gladiator under the hood...- 22 replies

If I were 25, I'd be living in a major tech city but probably have an SUV. Closer to 50, I like being in the suburbs with a yard and square footage, though I'd like more garage space. But I'm never going back to rural. My Dad loved the farm, I liked it as a kid, but now couldn't take the isolation and lack of nearby amenities..

Porsche News: Porsche Can't Seem To Make Up Its Mind on 911 Hybrid
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Porsche
Remember, in blu’s area, ‘alternative power’ means horse and buggy, not EV or hybrids. -
The new Jimny would make a neat 2dr Tracker.

Isn't that the SOP for GM? Fewer features and cheaper components on lower trim levels? Make you pay more to get the good stuff..

It's a good looking car, esp. like the front end compared to other recent Chevys. Really nice headlight & grille treatment. Profile is nice also, though I think the wheelbase is too short relative to the length...kind of look 'pinched' front certain angles.
