  1. I am surprised given the continuing success of the Wrangler and Jeep in general that GM hasn't come up with a competitor. A new identity, not HUMMER..too much baggage and failure associated with that brand name.
  2. Well, I think that is because they took forever to commit to Cadillac having it's own V8 engine family again instead of sharing w/ Chevy & GMC...again, being cheap.
  3. I always liked the look of the '76-77 442 with it's laid-back waterfall grille..
  4. Not having IRS on a full size SUV is pretty 20th century at this point... the advantages of having IRS would outweigh any disadvantages, I think...better ride, lower floor and more cargo space, etc.
  5. A bit before my time, but my sister remembers that era (she graduated from high school in '75). I do remember the early 80s Jordache ads with Brooke Shields.
  6. I just assumed that was GM being cheap.
  7. So from the first couple paragraphs, it sounds like the '20 Escalade will have an IRS (17 years after the Navigator) and an optional DOHC V8 (21 years after the Navigator)...
  8. Ah, hashtaging for the Millenials and their Instagramming. Personally, I prefer the sarcasm html tags--- <sarcasm> </sarcasm> around the text that is intended to be sarcastic.
  9. True about that...though I have sat in Fiat 500s at car shows, and they at least had some charm w/ the dash design. As far as my dislike of small cars w/ gray interiors, I'm sure it's from some rental car experiences such as the lurching Hyundai Scoupe, the Dodge Neon with the worst out-of-alignment front end I've ever experienced, and a very loud red Chevy Cavalier 4dr... And all had gray Fisher-Price interiors and were 4cyls with automatics.
  10. With only 80 built I'll probably have to go to Barrett-Jackson to actually see one in person. I like the Continental, it's a car I think that looks much better in person than in photos. It's too bad it doesn't sell very well.
  11. I wouldn't mind being Macedonian (resident of Macedonia, Ohio). I go there all the time anyway...my Best Buy, Home Depot, Massage Envy and First Watch are there... As far as disliking the Dallas Cowboys, for me, it's just part of my general dislike of Texas and the South in general. As far as football, I'm a Broncos, Browns and Steelers fan.
  12. I'd cheer for the Patriots before I'd ever cheer for Dallas. This does bring up an interesting topic for a thread---what car would I never, ever drive, even around a parking lot? I like to think I'm open minded enough to drive anything, even just once or as a weekend rental. Though I have a strong (possibly irrational) dislike of compact or subcompact cars with cheap gray interiors.
  13. Yes, definitely not underpowered. Powerful, obese, spacious, comfortable, fast. Sounds like the Aviator should be plenty fast also.
  14. Sad but true, seems like that ship has sailed.
  15. Some bad kimchi they have going on sounds like.
  16. And good for building a 4500lb luxury sedan...and I assume the next Mustang will move to that platform or something derived from it.
  17. Who knows, if Ford has any vision, maybe they will develop a next gen Continental sedan off the new Aviator platform..
  18. Haven't seen any pics of the new Escalade undisguised yet, so I'll withhold judgement. I do like the new Navigator.
  19. Yes, too little, too late. Just another step in the downward spiral of Ford.
  20. The article says only 80 are being built...low volume custom built novelty, soon to be forgotten.
  21. I could see someone getting the Clarity because the Insight is too mainstream looking and not weird enough. And the Clarity has a fuel cell, which is unusual, not ordinary like a Hybrid.
  22. The Sky and Solstice look good from the outside, but I remember sitting in them at a car show when they were new---nasty Fisher-Price interior plastics and weird placement of some things.
  23. I've heard of US built M-B and BMW SUVs imported into China. There may be others..
  24. Saw a really clean silver TrailBlazer SS with a For Sale sign at a local Mexican restaurant yesterday.
