  1. I could see this being used for airport shuttles...the 'minibus' passenger version of the Sprinter is used for that in various countries in Europe (ridden in them), those would probably rack up a lot of miles.
  2. The Republic of Ireland is staying in the EU, though...not part of Brexit which is the UK (which includes Northern Ireland).
  3. My sister's '06 STS has about 135k miles. It's back in the shop again w/ more electrical gremlins. The engine has been fine, she's put about 5000 miles on it since getting it last August.
  4. Nah, the '72 Fury. The Kia front kinda reminds me of the Fury bumper shape.
  5. Haven't seen that..the only current Sci Fi series I watch are Star Trek: Discovery, The Orville, and Doctor Who.
  6. It seems the horsepower/top speed/0-60 race keeps getting one-upped with each new hypercar...where is it going...5000hp, 350mph top speed, -1 sec 0-60? Ferrari styling hasn't appealed to me in ages...I still love the looks of 80s super cars...Testarossa, F40, Countach, 959...
  7. They are so boring and predictable...they all look like they were drawn by boys going through puberty or something out of a cheesy sci-fi show. And they always catch on fire. Just carbon fiber toys....
  8. Driving skills and car maintenance in general are so awful in the US I couldn't imagine the level of carnage with autobahn level speed limits here..Americans in general are too incompetent. They would be playing on their phones, ironing clothes, eating, etc.. IIRC at one time the German automakers had an agreement to have 155mph as the top speed on their cars.
  9. That seems to be where things are going pretty rapidly...
  10. Interesting concept..I keep seeing the '72 Plymouth Fury front end with that 'barbell' nose theme..
  11. True...maybe for the US they can call it CX-4...CX-30 just seems so non-conforming.
  12. Odd naming...would have thought they would have gone with CX-4. CX-30 sounds too much like an Infiniti name. Good looking CUV, though.
  13. Speed rating on tires are often a limiting factor...
  14. 112 mph is 180 km/h...maybe that has some significance. Otherwise, seems like a random number.
  15. Higher speed crashes tend to have more fatalities than lower speed crashes, regardless of the maker of the car. And in other news, boiling water can burn one's hands.
  16. GM alone probably had at least that many dealers. I remember as a kid in 1980 every little town in my area in Ohio had a new car dealer or two it seemed. Anecdotal, but probably similar across the country. Today dealers seem to be concentrated in larger locations, corporate owned chains, and auto mall locations close to major cities and freeways. Of course, there were a lot more stores period back then, not just more car dealerships. Doesn't seem that long ago since it's within my lifetime, but nearly 40 years!
  17. I could see a speed limiter being an issue on a Porsche, but on a Volvo? Has anyone every actually gone over a speed limit in a Volvo? Speeding really isn’t in the Volvo image.
  18. 2019 for the Cherokee, it looks like according to Wikipedia. With the facelift it got UConnect 4 with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Looks like the Grand Cherokee got that for 2018.
  19. Yeah, in the real world torque is way more useful than horsepower... I remember a few times driving my sister's Trax in AZ w/ the metered stop lights on ramps and the challenge of getting up to speed to get on the freeway... my old Jeep was passable....but the DTS excelled in the ramp-to-freeway dash...
  20. I usually never have headroom issues in cars (6'0"/240lbs), and I usually never sit in the back seat of any vehicle, but sitting in the back seat of the CT6 at the car show Saturday I was surprised my forehead was hitting the rear sunroof surround (was fine up front). In the rear, there is recessed area between the rear window and sunroof surround my head fit it, which seemed weird. Plenty of legroom, though. The sloping semi-fastback roofline on so many sedans really cuts into rear seat headroom.. I didn't try the backseat of the Regal GS or CTS, but I imagine it would be tight back there for me.
  21. Funny...with my iPhone, I get a notice from the Verizon Wireless app that I'm in a Verizon store and would I like to give any feedback, when I'm actually in one of a couple restaurants that I frequent in a local strip mall that have a Verizon Store between them. What's funny is I've never been in that store..
  22. And the ads were Verizon ads IIRC. Hated that phone.
  23. My last Motorola Android phone--the Razr--had a tendency to hang and become non-responsive..frequently. The last straw was a night where it locked up and starting playing audio advertisements in the middle of the night. It inexplicably stopped working after I threw it at a wall and stomped on it. No more Android shit for me after that.
  24. Ya...I use a tempered glass screen protector and a Tech 21 flexible case w/ metal inserts on the corners. Though the screen protector didn't save my iPhone 5s that I dropped off the 6th floor of a parking garage by accident.
