  1. The Honda at least has a window in the C-pillar, and looks good in person, IMO. And a different shape. Not sure why they changed the rear door shape and C-pillar from the current CTS style, it worked well...this is going to take some getting used to, will probably look better in person than in a photo on a tiny phone screen. It looks better in the dark red w/ the chrome trim. But that C-pillar trim looks really cheesy in black and I can only imagine how bad it will look in black on a white car...
  2. Yeah, I’ve already seen a couple journos going off on that on FB.
  3. Front and rear look good. Looks better w the chrome side window trim. A bit of Escala in the profile. Profile looks better than the gray front 3/4 view. A little window in the C-pillar would have looked better than a black triangle, IMO.
  4. Yeah, I get a strong Ion vibe to the greenhouse. And that cheesy black plastic trim on the C-pillar. Uninspired and uninspiring. Not an improvement over the CTS styling, IMO.
  5. So then I wonder if the next two models will be Model M and Model F? Would spell out the title of a Prince song...
  6. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a26839759/cadillac-ct5-sedan-confirmed-2020/ Front looks like the XT6. Weird trim on the c-pillar.
  7. I know when I was in high school, college and grad school, all my science/etc classes were taught in metric..that was 25-30+ years ago. But the US isn't alone in non-metric systems--the UK is odd in they have a mix of metric and traditional measurements--speed limits in MPH yet fuel in litres, metric for most things, but people weight in stone. As far as Cadillac's badging, no problem as long as it's not part of the model name...i.e. something like CT5 400 or CT5 500 and not CT400 and CT500...
  8. It’s possible. The 270 hp 2.0 turbo 4 in the new Wrangler may appear in other models down the road.
  9. Yes... that why I said 'haven't'. Those days of FWD generics are in the past for FCA hopefully...
  10. Sad but true...end of the road is nearing for affordable V8 RWD cars...alas, it's the era of CUVs and SUVs, and an EV future is on the way.... at least the Charger and Challenger haven't devolved into FWD 4cyl generics.
  11. Given there was no mention of Dodge products in the 5 year plan last year, my guess is it will be a refresh of the current cars sometime in the next decade. Nothing official has been announced. Whatever FCA is planning outside of Ram, Jeep and Alfa they are keeping very quiet...
  12. Per the Book of Knowledge: The Model 3 was codenamed Tesla BlueStar in the original business plan in 2007.[49][50] The intended name was Model E, which was abandoned due to Ford trademark. Model 3, originally stylized as "Model ☰", was announced on Musk's Twitter account on July 16, 2014.[51] Musk wanted the three current models to spell SEX, but settled for "S3X".[52] In early 2017, after trademark opposition regarding Adidas's three stripes logo,[53] the triplicate horizontal-bar stylization was abandoned and changed to a numeric "3".[54] I didn't know about the Adidas triple stripe aspect to the naming. The triple stripe reminds me of the hamburger menu seen on the top left or top right of mobile websites..
  13. I read it was Ford that blocked Tesla from using the name 'Model E'...Ford has that trademarked (probably for a future CUV EV). And yes, performance is very much part of the marketing and brand allure of Telsa as is the 'green' EV angle. After all, EVs like the Bolt and Leaf are sold on the 'green' hype angle and not performance. Performance has been used to sell cars for decades, as we all should know. Whether or not the typical driver ever fully uses that performance potential is immaterial..
  14. Cost..way cheaper to upgrade an existing, established model than design a new model..the costs in airplane development are astronomical..they've evolved the 737, 747 and other models over many decades with new engines, new avionics, etc.. And there is a very real human failure w/ the 737 Max 8/9 in that Boeing did not train pilots on the new MCAS software..
  15. Agreed. I'm pretty cynical about corporations in general, regardless of origin. Like this latest fiasco with Boeing has pissed me off..they were a company I respected and have some past experience with...I contracted for a year with one of their subsidiaries in Colorado during the drawn-out launch for the 787..I worked on the software systems for in-flight flight charting software. Lots of shenanigans there..
  16. That would have been Isuzu, not Mitsu. it is amazing how rusty old cars are here in Ohio...I really don't see many 80s-90s Japanese cars, beyond some 90s Toyotas and Hondas still running.
  17. I don't think their has been an official AMG version of the Sprinter...I saw a few Sprinters in Phoenix/Scottsdale w/ AMG badging, but I assume someone added the badges. Googling Sprinter AMG I found this from 2005.. https://www.motor1.com/news/54360/mercedes-amg-sprinter-63-s-unveiled-with-503-bhp/
  18. My ex-brother-in-law #3 had a Rodeo back in the 90s and early 00s... being in Arizona, had no rust problems...I remember he replaced it with a Mitsubishi Endeavour...couldn't remember the name, but remember it was the one with the really high fender bulges.
  19. <cynical>That's what large multinational corporations do...corruption is standard business. The public doesn't care, they are too busy w/ reality TV.. </cynical>
  20. Came across this RHD '90s Opel Blazer from Indonesia in the context of a thread on FB about the '90s Holden Suburban--which used a RHD Blazer dash. Interesting..I knew about the Holden Suburban but wasn't familiar with the Opel Blazer.. http://www.modifikasi.com/showthread.php/303933-Opel-Blazer-DOHC-Biru-Metalik-1996?fbclid=IwAR0sfxdIH25QxeXzmpH5Oqko8mgjyu-rwNEZoSY1y-N7Ecsfzk-ScrdmMTw
  21. With that much slope to the rear roof, I can imagine the headroom in row 2 and 3 to be pretty bad.
  22. Looks awfully tiny to seat 7 adults. I bet it's not 7 dfelt sized adults. the cargo capacity w/ seat down is slightly more than the Blazer.
  23. I like both lead actors...Viggo Mortensen was great in 'History of Violence' and many other films, and like Mahershala Ali from his recent turn in season 3 of 'True Detective'...
  24. I haven't seen it...probably will, but I did see an article about the inaccuracies w/ the '62 Cadillac in it...(the car they used was more worn than it should have been for the period, etc).
  25. I'm sure in Germany and other markets in Europe this was a Big Deal in the news, but in the US the diesel VWAG models had such a tiny market share that they didn't get much media attention beyond the automotive press... the Explorer tires issue, Takata airbags issue, GM ignition issue were all fatal flaws and affected millions of vehicles in the US market...a few diesel VWs with poor emissions? Not a big deal here.
