Yeah, I think BMW was the first that promoted the idea of a coupe crossover w/ the X6. Or was it that the X6 was first to market but not self-identified as a CCUV? Or maybe they had body style dysphoria. Always liked the looks..had some Mazda-like detailing in the the light clusters, and the roofline in side profile reminds me of an Audi TT in 4dr form.

One of the better looking coupe CUVs--though not promoted as such--IMO was the Infiniti FX...always liked the profile of those.
-
The rear is not bad...the back glass is not as sloped as other coupe CUVs...I like the sloped hatchback rears of some of the 'coupe' CUVs, like the Merc GLE and current X6..always wondered how a current Grand Cherokee 'coupe' version could look.

Funny, speaking of doors, I've managed to poke myself in the chest with the pointed door upper window frame edges on many 4 door cars over the years...can hurt if I open the door fast enough...

I think it looks really sharp in concept form.

Saw a clean bright red 2nd gen Ford Explorer Sport Trac , a vehicle I had completely forgotten existed..hadn't seen one in a long time. Back when they didn't have a US market Ranger crew cab.

Yeah, but I never bought into the 'winter beater' idea..I like one reliable vehicle for year round use. Though my sister has gone the winter beater route sort of with her STS.

I glad I do have a decent amount sidewall w/ the 20 inch tires, but I still dodge the potholes..don't want to foul my alignment...
-
heh-heh..yeah. I saw rusted, battered yellow H2 the other day.

An early EV off-roader...
-
Oh yeah...and it leads to so many potholes..the streets outside my subdivision are pretty cratered...

Meh..just a truck w/ lift up bed topper...I'm talking integrated lines, a normal car-like decklid. Yes...fun to let the mind wander on topics like this..
-
Well, for mid-engined, they could do an NSX crossover coupe w/ a pickup bed..that would be rad... likewise, maybe Chevy can do a pickup version of the C8...
-
Could be...we have salt mines under Lake Erie...road salt is a big thing here.
-
But with an actual integrated decklid..
-
Salt...probably got that in PA also...

Yes, but those look like raised cars, like the original Eagle sedan. The future needs crossover sedans that have tall CUV bodies w/ trunks. Picture a X6 or GLE 'coupe' with a more squared rear and decklid.

What is it with 4th gen Chrysler minivans and hood rust? Everything 4th gen I see around here had rust holes or blotches at the leading edge of the hood...
-
Yes, it was as ugly as the 2nd gen Durango.. To get something out quickly, they could just add a bed to the ProMaster cab and chassis version. That would give them the only cab-forward pickup in the US market..

The Cleveland Museum of History has a couple of vintage EVs, both Bakers IIRC... There was a recreation of a 1901 Lohner-Porsche also, Porsche showed it off at the intro of the Panamera Hybrid a couple years ago. Maybe they will bring it out for the Taycan launch.
-
Well, then they can just lower the rear body and add a decklid, make a crossover sedan, responding to market forces.

Sales must of fallen off w/ the 3rd gen..I never see them around, either here or in Arizona...still see a rusty 2nd gen around here once in a while.

Saw an article on Japlopnik today about there being almost a record high # of unsold new vehicles.

Out running errands at lunch, saw a black Grand Cherokee SRT at my groomers, and across the street in an empty funeral home parking lot was a new black Rolls Royce Silver Ghost. The funeral biz must be booming in Ukranian Village (neighborhood in Parma, Oh).

A sunny Monday morning in suburbia.....went out for coffee and a bagel, saw an eclectic mix of cars out and about. On the road saw 4 very clean examples of late GM V8 sports sedans---a black STS-V, a silver 2nd gen CTS-V, a dark gray G8 GXP, and a blue Chevy SS...love 'em all. Came out of the coffee shop, and it was like a Lexus showroom---2 nearly identical metallic red NXs, a hulking black LX, a slick dark gray new generation LS, and a gorgeous bright blue LC...that is one car that looks much better in person than in photos, IMO...the Lexus ragey mouth front end works on it, IMO. On the road heading home saw a brown w/ tan top '70s-80s Fiat 124 Spyder--haven't one of those in ages---a gray Nissan GT-R, a gorgeous black CT6 (parked in the lot of a funeral home--so many funeral homes around here), and a sharp white last gen Regal GS. Also an orange w/ black hood Challenger Hellcat and a gorgeous dark red Grand Cherokee SRT. And for something completely different, at my local independent auto repair shop, there was a Caterpillar tanker truck...never realized there were Cat-branded trucks (red cab w/ a big "CAT' logo in the grille). Speaking of Caterpillar, went by a huge dealer/shop with signs for 'Ohio Cat' with a shovel and earth mover out front by a fountain..I guess the local Caterpillar dealer..never noticed it before.
