  1. The cabin-to-body ratio on that custom is outrageous...
  2. It is funny about the regional differences...I rarely saw Buicks in Phoenix and Scottsdale, but they are all over the Cleveland area.
  3. In the Cleveland, Oh suburbs where I normally see a lot of Buicks (long a popular brand here, I think), I've seen maybe 4 new Regals--2 hatchbacks and 2 Tour Xes in the wild in the last year. The wagon looks really good in that dark maroon red.
  4. Odd..I didn't say anything about engines..was talking about the Intrepid cab forward styling and Dodge sedans; i.e. wherever Dodge goes next it isn't going to be the 90s styling themes..not going 'back to the future'..
  5. Nice to hear you liked the Grand Cherokee Limited...I love my '14. Bought mine as a CPO in March '17 w/ 25k to replace my '00 GC (which I put 170k miles on). It's up to 42k miles now, been great around town and on cross country road trips..love driving it.
  6. In 20+ years of working, only had to pay to park once...had to pay monthly at a downtown parking garage in Phoenix when I worked a contract at the City...but my contracting firm reimbursed me..was only like $50/month IIRC. I'm used to working in suburban office parks for the most part. Here in Cleveland I mostly Uber when I'm going to events downtown (dinner, plays, concerts, sports, etc).
  7. It was a great design, quite futuristic and the Powertrain was an advanced hybrid IIRC. But I don’t see FCA going back to the future. Maybe the next Charger will be a crossover sedan.
  8. NSX, Blazer, Challenger,Gladiator, Lexus LC, Volvo S60
  9. It just amazes me how ill-equipped for the real world it seems so many people are coming out of college today.. STEM is where it is at..has been that way for a long time. and for the non-college bound, we have a severe shortage of people doing meaningful, practical trade work..we have got to have competent electricians, plumbers, welders, auto mechanics, HVAC people, etc in addition to cube dweller techies like myself to keep the world going...can't outsource everything to China or India...
  10. I have a feeling there won't be a 'next design' anytime soon...I think they will just keep upgrading the current model indefinitely, along w/ the Challenger...
  11. It's amazing in 2019 there are women still with such an obsolete mindset. If she wants the Volvo and big house, she should go work hard and earn it..
  12. Well, they have gone a different direction w/ the Charger...I don't think we will see ideas from 2 decades ago re-surfacing..
  13. That was the Intrepid ESX concept from 1996...kind of predicted the general styling of the 2nd gen Intrepid, but sleeker. I always liked the LH cars, even though they were FWD. I remember seeing this concept in person on the University of Michigan campus back in the day.
  14. Before the electric truck, they built step vans (former GM model) going back to '98, and RV chassis, apparently Navistar owned them or part of them at one time.
  15. Today's 'WTF' sighting...a white Ford Transit panel van, with a Cadillac wreath and crest badge overlaying the blue oval in the grille.
  16. I wonder if GM will sell the plant to Workhorse for $1. I read that Workhorse had $736k in revenue last year, and only $38 mil in losses, or something like that..market value of $109 mil. Saw that they were a penny stock, had a big surge today. https://www.cnbc.com/2019/05/08/trump-tweet-sends-penny-stock-workhorse-surging-by-more-than-50percent-crashes-website.html Smoke and mirrors? GM clarified they are in talks..nothing concrete announced yet.
  17. Interesting...according to Wikipedia, the current generation Equinox and Terrain are available w/ diesels, but I don't recall ever hearing about them...must be pretty low volume.
  18. Outside of the SuperDuty/HeavyDuty type truck market, I can't imagine there is much consumer demand for diesels anymore.. Actual sales are probably a small percentage of the total of any model that has a diesel option, outside of the heavy duty niche. Outside of the heavy duty niche and maybe light trucks, it's no longer a growth market for diesels in the US..can't see their sales increasing.
  19. Yeah, I went without an auto payment for 12 years until I got to the point my old Jeep was too worn out to keep driving.
  20. Speaking of Buick naming, I vaguely remember there being a compact sedan based on the Opel Astra in the US briefly a few years ago. I can’t remember the name. It may have been Excelle in China.
  21. The D-100 was pretty old by the mid 80s, but it sounds like they did use some components..per Wikipedia--To keep investment low, many components were shared with existing Chrysler products and the manufacturing plant was shared with the full-sized Dodge D-Model. Wasn't the 3.9 V6 a 318 w/ two fewer cylinders? I remember reading this article on Allpar once before, not a lot of detail, but an ok overview on the 1st gen https://www.allpar.com/trucks/dakota-1987.html
  22. Now now boys...make nice.. back on topic, it is interesting to see another US diesel variant from Jeep.
  23. The existing diesel Compass in Europe--I wonder if that is a VM engine like other Fiat diesel models? Speaking of Jeep Compasses in Europe, I was watching a British crime drama last week and a couple of the detectives drove a black Compass. (Other detectives had Mondeos, and there were Ford Ecosport police cars).
  24. Speaking of CUV variants---it's too bad the convertible CUV never really took off, after the Murano and Land Rover Evoque...an XT5 2dr convertible, Escalade 2dr convertible, Escalade Landaulet, etc would be interesting variations...
  25. Cadillac should get in the game, do a XT5 CCUV with a rear window sloped like the late, great CTS coupe.
