I went to an open house over the weekend for a house--one story with finished basement that had an oversized attached two car garage and a detached 3 car garage w/ an RV carport beside it.. pretty nice. Had some hideous bathrooms, though. Beautiful wooded lot.. https://www.trulia.com/p/oh/madison/2431-forest-glen-rd-madison-oh-44057--2045441015 I also looked at this place...a lot smaller, but with a four car garage and boathouse and right on Lake Erie.. https://www.trulia.com/p/oh/madison/7543-lakeshore-blvd-madison-oh-44057--2045445232 Not looking to move anytime soon, but I'd like something like one of these w/ one story, more garage space and on the lake or close by in my next house...

Yeah, like when I lived in Arizona, I would drop my sister off at the airport every Sunday evening/Monday morning and pick her up Thursday evening when she worked out of town for years. When I lived in Colorado, I would leave a vehicle at DIA sometimes for 2-3 weeks in long term parking when I would go on vacations.

Interesting...definitely an approach that wouldn't work today. I loathe carports. Had them in Arizona (front and back), no protection from dust, birds or cats and limited protection from the weather. I do like the idea of built-in closets and shelving/drawers, though.
-
Not sure...I know Frank Lloyd Wright house designs either usually had carports or no garage at all, neither of which solution makes any sense in cold climates.

But once you factor in the cost of parking at the airport (if you leave your vehicle there for several days), then taxi/uber/etc may make more sense.

If I had any Photoshop skillz I'd love to come up with what a 2019 regular cab pickup would look like in the 1 seater narrow cab form...

My two current workspace desktop backgrounds on my Mac... local pics....one downtown Cleveland and the Cuyahoga River from the air, and the other Headlands State Beach and Lake Erie...

The Ford truck is neat, never seen a pic of one of those...I've seen a few pics of the VW ones around the 'net, here's one hauling pipe and one that is out to pasture.

I like using Uber occasionally when I’m going to dinner or a concert or other event downtown in an area without convenient parking...not something I’d use daily, but a few times a month.. For vacations, I could see using Uber esp. in places where I wouldn't rent a car.

Nah, just for fun...though I am thinking of buying a lake house a few years down the road. I would like a single story house w/ more garage space in the future,, either on Lake Erie or close by.

I took a tour of the Arizona Tallesin West some years ago and a few of his houses in Oak Park, Il. Still need to see Fallingwater, and another one near here. The horrific climate of Arizona is hard on buildings (TW has had a restoration or two). I like the lines and use of red in his houses, the wood and stone, along w the glass work. A lot of his custom designed furniture looks very uncomfortable and he designed doorways for short people. In So Cal, I love the mid-century Neutra, Eichler and A. Quincy Jones designed-homes..toured a few in Palm Springs a few years ago. Speaking of wood and stone and color in houses, went to this one open house today, was a spacious 70s ranch with a 2 car garage and detached 3 car garage and RV garage. Dark stone and dk brown trim outside, some interesting finishes inside but hideously remodeled bathrooms (weird ‘rustic’) and a dark, dour gray kitchen w black cabinets. Another Cape Cod style house right on the lake was charming on the outside, but so dull and sterile inside—-all white w light gray tile and painted white stone around the fireplace... Another place right on the lake that I liked had a 4 car garage but was 1300 sq ft w 2 bedrooms. But it had a boat house and a bit of beach.

Yeah, growing up w/ Baby Boomer siblings and MTV through the 80s I got exposed to a lot of classic rock at an early age...

It was a beautiful Sunday for a Sunday drive...went out this afternoon up to Lake County and it was Pontiac Sunday..saw a sharp black w/ gold trim '77-78 Trans Am, and 2 min later a sharp gold '77/78 Trans Am. In a small town at a garage/resto business there was a black '63 Grand Prix sitting on flat tires w/ 8 lug wheels, parked next to a primered '66 Tempest 2dr. Saw a sharp mid 80s Trans Am in a driveway, a dark red '05-06 GTO, a silver Solstice top down, and a sharp two-tone green '77 Bonneville Brougham 4dr. Also saw a clean red '68 Camaro and a gold '65 Dodge Monaco 2dr ht.

Was out for a Sunday drive up in Lake County and going to open houses and happened to turn a corner and see this Frank Lloyd Wright beauty... needs a '50s car in the carport. The Karl Staley House in N. Madison, Oh

Yeah, great voice...he was also in another band you may have heard of, 'Led Zeppelin'. A solo song of his I really like is 'Ship of Fools' from '88. The song 'Sea of Love' was also used in the film 'Sea of Love' IIRC...a murder mystery w/ Al Pacino and Ellen Barkin. I saw Robert Plant on a solo tour about 10 years ago, he's great live. And the Stray Cats guy later formed a band called 'The Brian Setzer Orchestra'.

Nice sunny day today...out and about this afternoon saw a clean bright orange '68-69 Chevy C10 step side...I think it was a '68-69 because it had side marker lights and a small rear window..didn't see the front end. Had '80s Chevy pickup Rally wheels. Also saw a Solstice in dark green w/ tan interior, top down. Saw a clean sliver early 90s Mercedes SL top down also.

Remember, there is a steel bumper bar and crash structure behind the plastic fascia.. and if the crash is hard to enough to get to the wheels and suspension, it's probably a total...

GM News: The Possible Sale of Lordstown Is Raising Skepticism
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
It was Horse... it would be nice to see some of manufacturing there. There are many empty auto plants across NE Ohio..there is a huge empty Ford plant near by the Cleveland airport.... a couple former auto plants have been repurposed as Amazon fulfillment centers. -
A good afternoon for spotting bright red coupes—saw the ‘04-06 GTO from around the corner rumbling down the street, a clean 72 Gran Torino coupe w black vinyl top, and the 70s Lamborghini Jarama from Parma I saw last year.

Looks like more front overhang, similar slope to back window. Will be interesting to see what the C-pillar trim looks like...;) Yep.
-
That is better...even better would be an actual window in the C-pillar rather than the black triangle of fail. Fake anything--fake grilles, fake exhaust tips, vents, etc is bad. But the fake grilles aren't really as noticeable as the bad C-pillar trim. A C-pillar window would let a bit of light in, and whether or not anyone looks in or out of it is immaterial--an actual window is infinitely better than a black triangle of fail.
-
Leasing makes sense than buying for consumers w/ luxury cars, esp. when the cabin tech changes quickly. Don't want to get stuck w/ a dated or out-of-warranty product.
-
Vile, fake black C-pillar trim is an endemic problem with many car makers today, GM in particular is bad about it. It's lazy, thoughtless design. Either put a window there like on the CT6, or shape the door differently so no trim is needed on the C-pillar. The ATS and CTS did a good job w/ the door and C-pillar shape. Don't put cheesy trim on the C-pillar that serves no purpose.
