  1. The way I look at it, under $30k-40k, most anything new is a 4cyl FWD generic--just boring gray interior point A to point B transport..disposable appliances. I'd rather have something more substantial, comfortable, and nicer equipped for a daily driver, and don't want to spend $40-50k on a new vehicle. I'm not trying to impress anyone, I got what I wanted. I don't care what anyone else thinks, I like Jeeps. Grand Cherokees specifically. I wanted an American midsize 2 row RWD/AWD SUV, since I don't do FWD/AWD transverse engine CUVs. Not many choices. Had a good experience w/ my previous one, having a good experience w/ my CPO. Vintage stuff is nice to look at at a car show, but not something I want to spend time dealing with, and since I don't have extra garage space, vintage is out of the question.
  2. My next door neighbors have an older F150, and a Sienna and an Odyssey, both around 10 years old..now that their kids are both driving (one in high school w/ an FR-S, one in college w/ a Compass), I assume they will get something else eventually. Speaking of minivans, I wonder if they will eventually drop the Caravan or rebadge the Voyager for Dodge dealers. It's still selling...
  3. Well, it's not my truth, so I really couldn't care less what you think. I'd rather buy a used clean luxury car or SUV than a new 4cyl FWD shitbox w/ a CVT and despair gray interior.
  4. Bullshit..it's a bad investment to buy new, a depreciated 3 yr old vehicle with 25k is a much better purchase. I don't buy your Quebec argument either--are people too lazy there to keep their cars clean? We got a lot of salt and bad weather here in Cleveland also, yes cars are worn out here after 10 years also if you don't take care of them...but you can have a daily driver look great here if you keep it washed and get the salt off.
  5. Went out for taco Tuesday and custard...saw a variety of interesting cars---a very clean red C4 convertible, a sharp silver '67 Corvette coupe, a primered '63 Ford Galaxie boxtop w/ a healthy rumble, a bright yellow slammed '68-72 C10 longbed, an orange Hellcat Challenger, and a white wide body Hellcat Challenger.. Oddest sight was a black Audi Q7 sitting up on 4 jack stands in a driveway of a modest house...looked like the guy was doing a brake job. Also saw a sharp red '59 Edsel convertible, rolling in traffic, top down. Saw a house with a pale yellow '65 Mustang coupe in the garage and a blue w/ white top Lincoln Mark III in the driveway being polished.
  6. That is sweet...love the central courtyard.
  7. With my tiny garage and the stairs of the split level, I think I'm going to be looking for a new house sooner than later...more garage space and a single story ranch...
  8. The biggest frustration I have with my central air (and heat) is more of a factor of the house...being a split level, I have 4 separate levels, and there is a lot of temperature variation between upstairs, the central level (kitchen, dining room, living room, the sunken family/tv room, and the basement. tv room is always colder than other other parts, the bedrooms upstairs always warmer...
  9. I've heard of heat pumps, don't know how common they are here, though. They would replace both furnace and A/C units?
  10. Yeah...and the height of a minivan is big part of the difference for an adult getting in the third row..I recall getting in the 3rd row of an Uber Burban in SF a few years ago, was awkward even with the size of the Burban...
  11. They make a lot more sense as a family hauler than the CUV or SUV..taller inside, power sliding doors, etc...
  12. Cruel
  13. Benz buyers want 'The best or nothing', so they are waiting on the next 'best' to be available.
  14. Could explain why the current one is down, people waiting on the new one.
  15. Is the next gen GLS on sale yet in the US?
  16. There is a closed former car dealer around here filled with overflow Rams.
  17. Speaking of the Pacifica, haven't seen any mention here about the return of the Voyager name for the lower Pacifica trims.
  18. Saw this on the FB...it's funny even if it is a fake story..I can imagine someone clueless about cars saying that.
  19. Took a scenic drive down through the national park to my favorite custard stand (been making this drive every day since June 28th, very relaxing). Saw a variety of interesting oldies—a clean red 40 Plymouth 2dr, a clean cream and red ‘56 Chevy 2dr sedan, a dark blue ‘71 Chevelle 2dr, a primered 55 Ford 4dr sedan, and an orange ‘70 Cuda.
  20. maybe they deleted their Excel spreadsheets by accident..
  21. Just going off how M-B categorizes them...they have the A-Class under sedans on their website, the CLA under coupes. It's not supposed to make sense.
  22. Well, the A-class is the sedan (in the US, they have a hatchback version also in Europe), the CLA is the 4dr coupe, the GLA is the crossover coupe, and the GLB is the more upright crossover...
  23. Funny thing about A/C and summer weather..when it's 80 around here, I see people out and about in shorts and t-shirts, but I'm inside w/ a hoodie and the A/C at 70. I even go outside and am comfortable in a hoodie over my t-shirt...I guess even after 2 years here, 'm still used to Arizona weather and 80 doesn't feel that warm to me... I find w/ my split level house and the A/C I find the upstairs gets warm, have to crank it down to 65 at night to sleep.
  24. I assume the CLA sales are down because the 2nd gen 2020 model isn't out yet, so they are winding down the 1st gen 2019.. (the A class isn't replacing it).
  25. Taillights seem to be a blend of the C7 and 6th gen Camaro. One odd thing is the license pocket is so high up, where will the badging go?
