GM News: GM Shelves Diesel Option for Equinox and Terrain
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
Re: marketing....for example, Jeep has successfully capitalized on the outdoor adventure imagery with their ads for decades, GM could do the same with their various CUVs/SUVs.. -
Saw a bright red '67 Grand Prix convertible yesterday, rolling top down...white interior. Also saw a Saab 9-7X in clean condition, kind of a taupe color. Haven't seen one in a couple of years.

I could see that happening at BP gas stations...they have their unleaded pump handles in green, instead of just the diesel at other station chains. -
Sharp truck. I like the color.

Ya, incredible stuff...I've always liked ice cream, but never experienced frozen custard like this...delicious..they have a couple basic flavors (chocolate, vanilla) and a unique flavor of the day..every day. It's about 10 miles from home, beautiful drive through winding, hilly roads of the national park to get there....gone almost daily the last 2 weeks...a summer guilty pleasure. Went for custard again tonight and saw a red '60 Chevy Impala convertible, a black '63 Bonneville convertible, and a white first gen Chevy II sedan delivery (cut and shut from a wagon) out enjoying a beautiful Ohio summer evening.. also saw a black '68 Chevelle ht, a dark blue w/ white stripe '68 Chevelle convertible, a silver blue '66 Mustang coupe, and a silver blue '69 Impala ht.

On a nearby street being resurfaced, saw a strange street sweeper truck..had a Frieghtliner cab with two steering wheels! The driver was sitting on the passenger side. I guess having dual drive setups makes sense so the driver can sit on the curbside to watch curbs when sweeping.. A bit o' googling turned up pics of one..wild.

Yeah, some of the more distant ones are. I know I have ancestors in the US going back to colonial days.

She had the same thought about the 'killer gene'. And the interesting thing is there are close relatives in our Mom's family with schizophrenia and other mental illness issues. It makes for interesting research. I am related to William Shatner, by the way.

Yes, but quite tastefully used. I love the 80s styling.

I'd have to check my sister's notes, but all these guys are/were 3rd - 12th cousins, IIRC. Ted Bundy Gary Ridgeway (Green River Killer) Dennis Rader (BTK Killer) John Wayne Gacy Jeffrey Dahmer Henry Lee Lucas

It is interesting to look into that.. my sister goes on genealogy kicks occasionally and has traced our family lineage back a long way...mostly English, but some French (Alsace) and Swiss, Scottish and Ulster Scots. A related activity is finding what famous or infamous people one is related to. I'm distantly related to multiple past and modern era presidents, entertainers, and strangest of all--some of the most notorious serial killers (all through my Mom's family).

I don't know much about Tacoma, but I would like to visit the LeMay Car Museum.

Though I know firsthand how old Mercedes can be money pits, I'd really love to have a mid 80s 500SEC or 500SEC AMG...love the hardtop styling.

Cadillac News: 2020 Cadillac CT6 Makes Big Price Moves

Do you have any comprehension of geography? It’s over 2000 miles. I wasn’t going to buy something in Ohio, ship or drive it to Az then drive it back to Ohio.. .I hadn’t sold the house in Az yet, had to move the dogs to Ohio and needed a new vehicle..my old Jeep had 170k and I didn’t trust it for the long drive that was looming in my future....I had had it 17 years, got my money’s worth. (I had bought it new, by the way.) No point trying to explain anything to you, you can’t understand. Different reality context..I had a unique situation...it works for me... -

And I didn’t downvote you because you said Quebec cars rust, but for your shitty attitude and the inaccurate assumptions you make. And your long, rambling incoherent posts. -

Yes, I bought a California car because I was living in Arizona. Arizona dealers get a lot of California vehicles. I needed it to drive cross country to my house in Ohio. Wouldn’t have made sense to buy it in Ohio... -

@oldshurst442 as an aside, do you ever have short, condensed responses? Too long and rambling. Anyway, yes life is hard in Canada and you have shitty winters and everything rusts. We understand that. You are just whining at this point. There was nothing smug or arrogant about my post; just stating facts. CPOs can be a good deal. Maybe Canadian car dealers don’t have CPO programs? I don’t know. I’m presenting facts as I know them in my reality context. -

Cadillac News: 2020 Cadillac CT6 Makes Big Price Moves

By buying a 3 yr old CPO from California w/ 25k miles I got a rust free pretty much spotless like new Jeep that had only trivial differences from a new one, at about $15k off the new price. New car smell isn’t worth that much for me. ( I have a very poor sense of smell anyway) -
Ah, good point... many do seem to be CJRD dealers nowadays (that's all I've seen in NE Ohio and the Phoenix area)...so they probably they don't need a Dodge version. Maybe Voyager is the strategy to replace the current Caravan... Dodge if it's around in 5 years will probably just be the Charger and Challenger, since the Durango will probably be replaced by the 3 row Jeep.
