Ah, ‘Arkon’—-nickname for Akron, a city near me in NE Ohio. For some reason, I’ve used that nickname for decades. Saw a very clean 90-92 Cadillac Brougham today, dark blue w dark blue top, dark window tint, whitewalls and wires. Classy.

And of course a long time ago Ford had an engine that was very successful in Indy Car and Formula 1, the Cosworth-Ford DFV.

I'd want that green convertible w/ the tan interior. I'll have to check out the configurator. The bronze would look good w/ a brown interior. I love how many exterior and interior colors are available.. one combo I do like is Elkhart Lake Blue w/ ultra bright trident spoke wheels w/ 3LT trim and Natural Dipped (tan) interior. The Morello red interior looks great also, would work well with the exterior in Shadow Gray. Sweet... The C8 is one of those cars I think will look great in person...withholding styling judgement until I can walk around one (and hopefully sit in one). -
Yesterday was my sister's birthday, so I took her out to dinner tonight at our favorite seafood restaurant, Pier W. Took Uber Black to get there and back...on the way there, the driver had a 2016 Escalade ESV...very comfortable, loads of leg and headroom in the 2nd row. On the way back, the driver had a 2016 Lincoln MKS. Had an interesting conversation w/ the driver, said he bought it new but at 25k and 50k miles the engine had to be replaced each time under warranty due to some failure. had 70k on it now. Comfortable ride. He's planning on trading it on a Navigator in the next year, for the new Uber Black SUV series (currently there is Uber Black and Uber Select for the more premium rides, sounds like the SUVs in Uber Black will get their own categorization as Uber Black SUV). The Corvette has been successful in sports car racing, I assume the C8 will competing also. F1 has sadly become a deeply dull snore fest of ugly cars, boring tracks, and predictable outcomes. And as a 40 yr F1 fan, it’s sad. -

I bet the Z06 or ZR1 will have this black trim at the edge of the scoop in carbon fiber. Maybe the aftermarket will put out a chrome trim piece for it. Pretty slick how they worked the door cutline through the scoop opening surround. -

No, it’s a convertible. Look at the pics of the regular targa w/ the fixed rear window and bar where the rear hatch/engine cover is hinged. The convertible version probably works like a Ferrari 488 Spyder or various Lambos—the section with the headrest fairings flips backward and the top folds into a well between the seats and engine. Pretty standard approach for convertible versions of modern mid-engined sports cars. The Jalopnik article shows the differences in the rear structure between the coupe and convertible. The pics below are from that article--convertible in green, coupe/targa in red. https://jalopnik.com/heres-a-first-look-at-the-new-corvette-convertible-1836527053 -

You are talking about the targa top (removable roof panel) version, not the convertible. I was talking about the convertible, which doesn't have a see through panel..(the dark green car in the pics I posted). -

It probably folds and stacks over the engine, hence no see through panel. (I'm talking about the convertible, not the targa). -

It will be interesting to see how it sells, and what the retention rate from existing Corvette owners is like... -

Non-sequitor. Saying Ferrari has been owned by Fiat is like saying Chevrolet is owned by GM. Ferrari is a multi model brand of vehicles, the Corvette is a single model within the Chevrolet brand. And besides, Ferrari is an independent company now (since 2016). -

Haven't seen any engine bay pics...I assume the engine will be north-south ahead of the transaxle. -
Talk about irony..I saw an older gent with a 'Korean War Veteran' license plate frame recently...he was driving a Sonata.

I assume the convertible version will follow within a year to 18 months. It will be interesting to see how the Corvettes' usual 65 yr old male buyers react to it... The styling is kind how I expected it to be, some C7 general styling cues with mid-engined silhouette and proportions..a slight resemblance in profile to the F430, but squarer and bigger scoops. At least they didn't go full Silverado with the front end. -

You are just being obstinate...Corvettes have always been Chevrolets. Nothing wrong with that. I'm sure on the title or registration it will say Chevrolet. It's not a separate brand. And there is a little bowtie on the winged bird emblem. -
My favorite CTS bodystyle may be the wagon... love those taillights... I think the 2nd gen CTS was the best overall for styling inside and out, I esp. prefer the 2nd gen front end to the 1st and 3rd gen models.

Lotus still has one model in the US, and it's the cheapest rear-mid engine sports car currently on sale in the US, I think..the Evora has been around for over a decade now. They are pretty low key amongst sports car makers..

I don't know about 'half-assed', but it has a huge ass... I like the look, it doesn't follow the usual 2dr coupe that looks like a 4dr w/ two longer doors formula.
