  1. Black, white and red...how boring and mainstream. The extra charge colors are pretty boring also, though I like the brown and the blues.
  2. Yes..I remember the joys of driving a manual in a past life on winding, twisting hilly Ohio roads and winding, twisting Colorado mountain roads. It's not about 0-60 or lap times---the numbers mean nothing, it's enjoying the interaction w/ your car and the road.
  3. I learned to drive before cell phones or cupholders. In olden days, i remember trying to drink coffee and eat a bagel while driving in a car w/ a manual..
  4. Being on the 'wrong' side of the vehicle and the 'wrong' side of the road definitely is awkward at first...even more so in a manual. Especially w/ roundabouts.
  5. I wonder if they will do a 60th anniversary edition in 2024.
  6. But different from an ordinary automatic w/ flappy paddles.
  7. As with the C8, they aren't targeting 'traditional GM performance car buyers'---they have realized they can't sell to Baby Boomers forever, they are aging out.
  8. I've never experienced a column shift manual, but learned to drive with a typical '80s 5spd floor shift manual. I've owned cars w/ 4 and 5 speed manuals, would like to own something with a modern 6 speed manual...I still enjoy driving w/ a manual on occasion. But in the real world grind an automatic is fine. Never got into the flappy paddle thing, my Jeep has them but I don't see any point. Maybe a sports car with a DCT and flappy paddles could be fun, though.
  9. The NSX does look good in black out...sports cars are about the only place I like that appearance.
  10. And the orange barrels were everywhere...miles and miles at 50 mph w/ occasional signs of construction...
  11. Because they are Mercedes...infinite niches. Will that strategy change? Maybe..
  12. By M-B's logic and terminology, the A-class and CLA are like the E-class and CLS. Sedan and 4dr coupe. Whether the market needs both, that's another issue..
  13. Another angle to the no manual detail is they didn't want to a hole in the tunnel...also read there were packaging issues. Also it's cheaper to only have to engineer one transmission. https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/autos-sports/the-real-reason-the-new-c8-corvette-isnt-available-with-a-manual-transmission/ar-AAF1wMm
  14. https://www.landroverusa.com/vehicles/range-rover-family.html
  15. Looks like the RR website shows both the 1st and 2nd gen model (the new 2nd gen is in blue, the 1st gen in white). The 2nd gen came out as a '19 in Europe, it looks like it's a '20 in the US. https://www.landroverusa.com/vehicles/range-rover-family.html
  16. Interesting..both the Evoque and Tour X have those silly tabs at the top of the wheel arch trims. The Velar has cleaner side trim.
  17. I want to be that guy when I'm that age..still driving fun cars. But I have to get in better shape.
  18. I saw a guy in Scottsdale a few years ago, appeared to be around 80 parking a yellow C6 Z06 convertible. Had the top down and a walker sitting in the passenger seat..opened the door, lifted out the walker, then got out.
  19. Cool... With my back, hips and knees it would be painful...I'd be banging my shoulders/head on the roof. So I'd have to have a convertible and leave the top down. I would like to have a sports car for a fun car sooner or later, but definitely not a daily driver.
  20. I've never driven one either. I've ridden in a couple, though. Had a coworker w/ an '85 C4 (with the blocky digital dash) and another w/ a C6. Sat in a few at car shows.
  21. I could see myself becoming one of those 65 year old guys in plaid shorts and golf shirt cruising around Scottsdale or Palm Springs in a Corvette convertible. The scary part is that is only a little over 15 years away..
  22. Back to the original thread topic, maybe the 2020 C8 will be a short run, hence the 'almost sold out already' and the higher volume production next year will be for MY 2021.
  23. Maybe we will see trans genre CUV-based sedans...with the body height and proportions of a crossover but with a trunk. Picture an Equinox or Edge w/ a trunk. A crossover crossover.
  24. Too gloomy. ...not a fan of blackout, I like a bit of chrome and some color. It is funny to see Honda just now jumping on this blackout bandwagon..wasn't this trend passe 3-4 years ago? I've seen so many white SUVs w/ black wheels or black SUVs w/ black wheels....so boring, so overdone...
