  1. Yeah, that was that guy that was in that show..or maybe he just looks like him...
  2. You going to keep it going to 200k? My Jeep is now a few hundred miles away from the 50k mark. Still running well..
  3. Yes, they were plainer than the usual heavily cladded Pontiacs, but they were V8 RWD, not US GM generic FWD mediocrity...
  4. Basically would have been an earlier version of the G8. If Pontiac had kept real names instead of G* nonsense....woulda coulda shoulda...too little, too late.
  5. mac n cheese
  6. Well, over the last 25 years Holden was building V8 RWD sedans in the Commodore and Caprice/Statesman, with wagons and ute variations at a time when in the US Chevy, Pontiac etc were churning out forgettable, mediocre FWD appliances. They also had HSV making high performance variations of those models.
  7. I'm jaded and cynical, world-weary and worn down from decades in the corporate IT game. I don't think *any* ad has 'inspired' me in maybe 25 years.. There are some I can appreciate occasionally, though. Like the Jeeps in the mountains on snowy trails ads...always like those.
  8. How about this XT6 ad with a diverse group of Millennial hipsters... (struck me as funny since the XT6 is a 3 row soccer mom family hauler type of CUV).
  9. GM is rapidly becoming a small regional automaker, period...
  10. Diesel seems like it would be a dead end, outside of HD pickups. A supercharged V8 then a Hybrid of some sort would make more sense...
  11. The bigger question is how relevant is TV advertising in the age of streaming, where a lot of content can be consumed ad-free?
  12. Well, GX is old school body-on-frame and only available w/ a V8 in the US, the RX is a generic transverse V6 layout as is the XT6. And it is available in a 3rd row now.
  13. It’s more torque than the 3.6 LFY in the XT6’s siblings from Chevy and Buick though (but the Acadia being Professional Grade gets the same engine/torque). And about the same as a major competitor (Lexus RX).
  14. No, but the LGX 3.6 in the XT5 and XT6 makes 271 units.
  15. I've seen several Cadillac ads recently...I generally don't watch TV with ads, but I do watch local news and live events (sports and awards shows) occasionally. Specifically an XT6 ad with Millennials, saw that during the Oscars last week several times. During the Oscars there was also a nice 2021 Escalade ad w/ Regina King.
  16. Where I was was at a Big Fortune 500 corporation that probably had their facilities maintenance and moving outsourced to a unionized shop. Odd because it was in Colorado which never struck me as a particular union-ey place. The next two places I worked after that were tiny---one a startup company and one a consulting firm, under 10 people each, and we moved offices a couple of times at each place and I helped w/ the moves, once hauled a load of servers, computers and monitors in my Jeep a couple miles between offices..
  17. I remember a long time ago (over 20 years ago), I was working in an corporate IT cube farm, and my team got recubed--my whole department moved across the floor to a different collection of 20 or so cubicles. I could box up my personal content in my cube, but couldn't move it, my chair or my computer--those had to be moved by union mover resource units. Struck me as odd.
  18. Those are just generic CUVs on shared platforms with other GM appliances, though. Nothing special.
  19. Day off so out running errands this afternoon. Sunny and 46. Saw an eclectic mix...dark red 87-90 Caprice sedan in good shape that I’ve seen before. Saw a clean white w tan top 77 Caddy Sedan de Ville w a custom chrome grille. Saw a derelict ‘61 Ford Falcon 4dr in traffic, a tri-color of gray primer, matte black and rust. Saw a pale green early 90s XJ Cherokee with Forest Ranger lettering and door shields. Wasn’t sure if it was county, state or federal..but is something that old still in official use? And went by the City of Parma office building and sure enough they still have their early ‘00s Bonnevilles...
  20. Of the modern era French cars, I like the Renault Avantime and Vel Satis for their weirdness, along the with the Citroen XM and C6. The Peugeot 607 was a good looking, albeit conventional large sedan. Reminded me of the Chrysler LH sedans of the 90s-00s. The 407 coupe was good looking. For current French cars, I like the revived Alpine model, and some of the current models from DS
  21. I could see that..an Icon Derelict style build.
  22. 1959. Has patina in spades..
  23. Someone was inspired by the new Silverado. Look at that vent between the fender and grille surround. Or maybe a GM designer saw this and was inspired?
  24. Yeah, I remember when crossing the void a few years ago the drive on I-70 from St Louis to Columbus being pretty dull.... almost as dull as I-40 from Albuquerque to OK City through the Texas panhandle...
  25. Speaking of speakers, any of you audiophiles have experience w/ wireless home theatre speakers? Next time I set something up I really don't want to futz with running wires through walls for surround sound..
