  1. Yes, also the Chevy Mexico line is a mix of US and Opel-based models...I've seen Chevy Vectras, Astras, and a 'Chevy' (Corsa) in Arizona...
  2. I'd have no problem with Holdens or Opels sold here..I've driven modern Opels in Europe (a Vectra and an Astra) and they were fine cars..
  3. It's been over 25 years since the Opel name was used in the US.... I really doubt if many buyers under 45 remember it...
  4. I'll reserve judgement until I see it in person, but I like what I've seen in the spy photos (on Autoweek) so far...the '70 Challenger has long been one of my favorite old cars (along with the '69-70 Mustang).
  5. Agreed... the Alero, Intrigue, and Aurora were a definite cut above the usual blandtastic GM sedan fare of the late '90s-early '00s... nicely styled, good engines, suspension, decent interiors... I liked the direction Olds was taking then--breaking away from their fogey image of the Ciera/Cutlass/88/98s of the '90s into something very competent and modern. Too bad GM couldn't make it work.
  6. 1. Daimler-Chrysler (Jeep) 2. BMW 3. Ford
  7. I think the Lotus Elise is sold under some sort of safety-reg low-volume exemption..(though it does have airbags). I don't know what the production figures on the S7 are, but it's pretty low...(i've only seen 4 different ones out and about over the last 2 years).
  8. It makes sense for people buying gas-guzzlers like the obese Ram Mega Cab.., I guess
  9. It's kinda cool in a futuramic way.... (imagine it parked beside a GM EV-1, Honda Insight, the '80s GM future car from Epot Center, etc..)
  10. The Lucerne is a car that I think looks even better in person than in photos. It looks great up close, IMHO...
  11. Those are cool...I'm waiting on the JL 'Chevy High Performance' 6 car set I have on order...has a '69 Impala SS convertible (first one of those I've seen in 1:64th scale).
  12. Too bad about the barn doors not being an option anymore. One rationale I heard for them from a buddy of mine that hauls trailers is that they could be opened when the trailer is hooked up (couldn't lower a tailgate or swing up a hatch in the same space).
  13. Yeah, it was really stripped down..a base 2wd shortbed model. But he tricked it out in in the tacky '80s style---big CHEVY decal across the windshield, tinted headlight covers, running boards, custom stripes, bed cover, rear window louvers, sun visor, custom wheels, key hole surround trim, CB radio, fog lights, front air dam, fake hood scoop, etc...
  14. I haven't been in a Blockbuster's in about 5 1/2 years...ever since I started my Netflix subscription. Speaking of firing, I've never been fired but have lost a couple of jobs back in the dot.bomb era due to startup companies running out of money and shutting down (incl. one that shut down owing me about 10k in wages).
  15. I got my BS and MS in Computer Science from Ohio State, and then worked 3 years on my Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering at the U. of Michigan before I got burnt out on academia.. I'm thinking about going back to school eventually for an MBA with an Information Systems concentration.
  16. My brother got 15 years and 185k out of his '84 S-10..it had the 4 cyl (2.5L?). No A/C, no power options, no carpeting!
  17. For me, it was public schools from Kindergarden through grad school.. started out in a small Ohio town, then jr. high and high school in a small Florida resort town, then a big university in Ohio for the BS & MS, then a big university in Michigan for the PhD..
  18. Sounds like a smoke-and-mirrors thing...700mpg and 300 hp...riiiiight..
  19. They are here in Denver..the one I sat in yesterday was a CXL V8 stickered at $38.5 or so... they look great in person.
  20. Hmmm...maybe something based off the Highlander....with a hybrid version.
  21. I stopped in at a local Chevy-Buick-Saab dealer today and saw a black Lucerne w/ tan interior on the lot.. first I've seen upclose--pretty nice. To my surprise, it was unlocked (outside on a Sunday). I sat inside..pretty nice....it was stickered at 38k-ish.
  22. It looks cheap. A hood prop is ok on a 20k car, but on a 30k car...
  23. Hmmm...looking at the pic of the white one and the black one on the Caddy website, I see they did do a little tweaking on the B-pillar trim to distinguish it from the Tahoe and Yukon (a black applique over the door uppers, it looks like).
  24. Why not ressurect the 'GS' moniker? It has a long history with Buick, not unlike 'SS' with Chevrolet..
  25. Maybe spin OnStar off into a separate company? (Or did they already do that?)
