  1. 2x4s, plywood, styrofoam and a lot of ducttape....(I've read about showcars before that literally were that underneath).
  2. I'm wondering what's underneath--a one-off for the show, the GTO platform, a Zeta prototype, Sigma, a hacked Cobalt platform, stretched Solstice platform, Trailblazer platform??
  3. To compliment the 'American Revolution' ad campaign, Chevrolet's ad campaign in Europe should be the 'Korean Revolution'.
  4. I guess I'm not going to get my hopes up until I see the real thing in showrooms...it would be nice if they do build it and it's within 50% of the concept and the do it before I'm 40!
  5. It would make the perfect 5 year commuter car...enough gadgets that I wouldn't get bored, and the reliability for piece of mind, and a decent resale value. That said, the only Lexus I would serious consider would be a GS450...
  6. Dean Martin and Traci Lords were from my original hometown (Steubenville, Oh). No one came up for my other hometowns (Gnadenhutten, Oh) , Marathon, Florida. (I only consider places I lived as a kid or teenager, before college as hometowns---I wouldn't use that term for places I've lived as an adult. One movie connection I have, though, is filming location... the 1978 NBC TV Miniseries 'Centennial' was filmed some in my area in Ohio (the Amish country of Ohio standing in for 1840's Lancaster, Pa)....they filmed a number of scenes at my family's farm--the outside of the barn and house, in the house, a fight scene in the barn...I had a part as an Amish kid in the background (I was 7 when they filmed there in 1977...met a few actors--John Bennett Perry (Matthew's father), Robert Conrad, Gregory Harrison... The irony is that miniseries was about the settling of Colorado, and I now live in Colorado...
  7. Because they have been on TV?
  8. Since I first saw the pics, I kept thinking this concept reminded me of another concept....I remember what it was--this car reminds me quite a bit of the GTO concept from the late '90s...has that video-game unreality aspect to it...
  9. Well, like with Benz the small and large are similar, but the medium differs..i.e. the C- and outgoing S- class have some visual similarities, the E-class is on it's own path, and likewise here the new LS has some similiarities to the IS while the GS goes it's own way.. Nothing wrong with establishing a theme across a range..
  10. Yes... I'd rather have a lot of buttons that have to deal with a mouse and menu system....the I-Drive, Comand, etc stuff is just pointless fluff, IMHO...
  11. It would be nice to see a Cadillac competitive with this.
  12. Very clean, conservative, tasteful, as a Lexus should be...I bet it will have the best resale value in it's class as well. As far as the interior, I like the gauges especially...
  13. I suspect the exterior is very close to production, though smaller wheels will be likely. The exterior looks production-ready to me (unlike the Camaro concept, which looks way more wild concept than production-ready).
  14. Looks very good..I see Buick is continuing the VW theme they started with the Lucerne ..the Enclave rear end (esp. the taillights) shows a Touraeg influence, IMHO...
  15. Agreed on the Accord...it's way more space-efficient, nice interior, and modern engine and transmission.
  16. I suspect they would raise the roof also..the concept has an odd chop-top look to it in profile..
  17. Nah, it was all-ugly all the time...esp. in garish colors like yellow and orange...
  18. Interesting concept...but could a production version remotely look like that?
  19. It's definite improvement over the Durango (which may be the ugliest vehicle out there now, with the demise of the Asstek...)
  20. I'd go for the Lucerne...more modern platform, more luxury, more goodies, and the Northstar engine. Better package all-around... I'm 35 and could live with the Buick image.
  21. They have a 1-pager with photos of a concept car in silver with an illustration of an interior...strong '69 styling cues inside and out... They claim the photos were taken at the GM Design center (look like a clay) the article says don't expect it before '08, likely to be on the Zeta platform w/ v8 and v6...
  22. Hong Kong is a different world from mainland China, though....Hong Kong has had decades of exposure to Japanese cars, Benzes, British cars, etc... personal ownership of a car is still a very new thing in much of China...
  23. There is a rendering on the cover and on page 20 of the Feb Automobile that looks very conceptual...not production material...dissapointing.
  24. It must be the contrast of color and the wall in the background, but the 3rd photo down looks like a photo of a scale model to me rather than of a 1:1 vehicle. The new 'Slade looks great, IMHO...but if I ever wanted to buy a full-size SUV, I'd have to go with a Suburban..it's the most honest.
