  1. The hybrid seems like a reasonable approach for now as it can be built with existing technology and doesn't require changes in usage patterns or infrastructure. There is a gas mileage increase, but more importantly (the point which everyone seems to miss) is that they are cleaner..
  2. Yes...I used to live near Walnut Creek, Ohio, and when people would pronounce it Walnut Crick, I assumed they were hicks or West Virginia transplants (which there were a lot of in Eastern Ohio). Now Walnut Creek, Ca is a very nice place...my company's CEO lives there.
  3. The also have a '67 Camaro convertible and '70 Chevelle SS convertible in the Classics line, new for '06...I found a couple recently, pretty nice--redline tires and spectraflame paint.
  4. What? Speak up...I can't hear you... I limit the use of mine to 2-3 hrs a day usually... at work.
  5. Actually, the internet was around 25 years ago..actually, 35 years ago. It was only used by government agencies, defence contractors, and universities. No WWW then...just ftp, telnet, etc.
  6. Yesterday I saw two '90s Roadmasters--a dark red wagon with wood trim, and a base gold 4dr (no vinyl top, plain full wheelcovers). Don't see those very often. Last night, I saw a car that would excite 68P---a late '70s Toyota Cressida station wagon..in good shape.
  7. 2008 Buick lineup: La Crosse, Lucerne, Enclave, Terraza. (Enclave is replacing both the Rainier and Rendezvous?). Something with 2 doors would be nice.... i.e. Riviera.
  8. Riiight...fuel cells are still a pipe dream...at least 25 years or more away from being practical, both as far as the cars and the infrastructure.
  9. Could be..the mid '90s ('92-96?) 4dr Camry looked quite a bit like the original Taurus, IMHO..
  10. For me it's usually #2. For the most part, the Democratic party fits my views pretty well. There used to be aspects of the Republican party that I liked (financial responsibility, etc) but there is no way I could support that party now as it has been hijacked by the right-wing neocons and evangelicals, two groups I want nothing to do with.
  11. Interesting..I generally only make right turns unless I have a left turn lane with an arrow. I have a phobia about turning left in traffic without an arrow (a couple of bad experiences years ago caused that....(partially related to my phobia about carburators).
  12. Yeah, the extremists get all the press... I'm not down with any religion, so it's all alien to me.
  13. Is it just me, or the Muslim world in general obsessed with violence and mayhem (esp. towards Western cultures)? So much for Islam being a religion of 'peace'. I've never understood the violence and insanity that seems to surround religion in general...
  14. I call such a hat a 'toque'. I wear one in the winter, since I shave my head and it gets cold...
  15. I heard 'warsh' a lot in Eastern Ohio....I think it's a general Appalachia thing... same with 'crick' for 'creek' and 'holler' for 'hollow'....
  16. I drove over a raised 4-inch median at 30 or so in my GC. Had to have a front end alignment.
  17. The topic title is a bit misleading..the Camry has been built in the US for years...Georgetown, Ky...they are just considering an additional plant.
  18. Yeah....though annexing Mexico is probably more likely...infinite supply of cheap labor.
  19. Maybe they can do a luxury version of the passenger version..brand it as a Chrysler Town and Country.
  20. No, no, no...what America needs is The Homer. The car for the forgotten man.

    G5

My guess is the Solstice will be renamed the G5.. Of course, there is already a G5 on the market...a pretty sweet one at that.. /G5
  22. I've read about that...somewhere in Alberta, I think..very costly to extract it, though...
  23. Maybe GM will offer the new Camaro with a torquey turbodiesel and sell it in Europe..that would be cool.
  24. I found out today that AMT announced at the annual Toy Fair show that they will be doing a 1:25th scale plastic model of the Camaro concept, due out in September.. that's the fastest I think I remember ever hearing about a kit announcement relative to the public debut of a production car or concept car...
  25. I liked it quite a bit also...subtle, clean styling (great front end treatment, IMHO), beautiful interior... but then I look at the A8 which looks even better to me inside and out...
