  1. Another way of looking at it that the sedan was probably a rusty beater, the Elco was probably a wreck, and someone merged the two into something else rather than both going to the crusher...

I was surprised to see the 4dr being a softtop (unlike the Dakar concept which had a fixed roof).I wonder if the doors are removable like the 2dr.

I guess the idea behind the 4dr Wrangler is to make the rear seat more accessible/usable and give more rear legroom...(getting in and out of the back of a regular Wrangler can be a pain for adults)..
  4. Sounds plausible...I'd read the jousting thing somewhere else also. I could see that at the time of the American Revolution colonists walking on the opposite side of the road (right side) to be different from the British...
  5. Too bad Ford doesn't offer the Focus SVT anymore. I'd take the GTI over the Civic for many reasons, incl. that it's a hatchback (I'd much rather have a hatchback in a compact than a trunk). I've driven one of the previous style GTIs..it was a fun car. A coworker of mine is looking to trade his '02 Eclipse on a new GTI.
  6. Yeah...look how long it took to shut down Olds..5 years? It's just some wiseguy bs-ing...
  7. I've seen a few mutants like this before..when I lived in Florida, in my little town there was a '73 Torino wagon that had been cut off behind the driver's seat and had a flat bed installed, and a '73 Mercury Colony Park wagon that had the whole roof cut off--a station wagon convertible..both crudely done..
  8. I'm pretty sure it was a four door..look at the length of the door and you can see the outline of the sealed-up rear door under the bondo..
  9. It's a '68 Catalina 4dr sedan that has had some crude cut-and-paste job done to it. Looks like it would be hard to get in and out of with the tiny door uppers.
  10. How enlightened. Try using proper spelling, grammar, punctuation if you want to have any credibility to your posts.
  11. I'm not sure why LEDs couldn't project white light.. they have blue LEDs, red LEDs for tailights, etc..
  12. With that 6-light greenhouse, it would make a nice Chevy Caprice..(as it no doubt will in the Middle East market).
  13. I understand the frustration...I've been in 3 car accidents that resulted in damage in almost 20 years of driving, and none were my fault.
  14. Agreed, I don't think GM has been growing much at all, it's that they have been loosing market share for a long time---contracting---but not shrinking correspondingly as a company... They are still staffed like they still have 40% of the market when they can expect maybe 20% by the end of the decade, I think....
  15. I'm skeptical that original poster is just making up his/her allegations.
  16. Why do you think LED headlamps are illegal in the US? Do you have proof? Or is this just a PFA?
  17. It looks good...those big wheels look good on a big car. Now that they have the DUB edition for the youth, how about an edition for the older Buick buyers--wire wheels on white wall tires, padded top, tufted red cloth loose-pillow style interior, AM radio, etc
  18. Comparing 'sport sedans' with automatics doesn't make sense..call me old-school, but a sport sedan has to have a manual... now in a luxury sedan, an automatic is fine..
  19. Good to hear..I wonder what the coupe vs. sedan distribution of sales is. I see coupes more frequently (probably 4 to 1) than sedans, though either is still an uncommon sight here in Denver, a heavily SUV- and import-oriented market...
  20. Ouch.. I almost had a side swipe accident about 15 minutes ago.. Some stupid f*ck in a Dodge Ram almost side swiped me on the freeway.. talking on his cell phone and moving into my lane without signaling when he was still parallel and not completely in front of me... I wish I had had a rocket launcher to take out this bozo and his damn 'W04' sticker..
  21. I can understand the consumer indifference/ambivalence...honestly, I'm ambivalent myself. I'm not union, no one in my family is, and I think my industry (software) has had a lot more layoffs in the last 5 years than the auto industry--high paying, educated white collar cubicle jobs, some of which have been outsourced. Even through that, though, there are still a lot of companies hiring, so the future looks good in my line of work. If some union workers in the Midwest strike, it's just not relevant to my reality. The transit workers were on strike here last week, I noticed it because traffic was heavier and parking downtown much harder to find. That said, I want to see the old big 3 survive, as they have vehicles I would definitely consider buying in the future..
  22. Agreed on these...the Jetta/Passat rear would be the first change I'd make. It needs Buick-style wide, horizontal taillights.
  23. I did too...too bad it was never offered with the Northstar. The Riv, first-gen Aurora, '92+ Seville/STS and Eldorado are my favorite '90s GM models.
  24. Interesting..i wonder what platform it is on...a new Mazda platform or the Ford/Volvo platform that the Five Hundred/etc is on? I assume there will be more crossovers off the Five Hundred/Freestyle/Montego/MKZ platform.
  25. Ok..so you are upset about a crease in plastic bumper...wow..that's pretty shallow. Why not wait until you see more photos or see the car in person?
