  1. I try and avoid them...they are always so crowded.. I have about 6 Targets within 15 miles of me (3 are SuperTargets) and about the same # of Wal-Marts. My mom,on the other hand, lives in rural Ohio and Wal-Mart is the only big store within 50 miles. My brother worked for them for 10 years, retiring at age 50 as a regional manager).
  2. Interesting..it has a strong resembalance to the Sky. YAK (Yet Another Kappa).
  3. It's a sweet looking wagon..I like the interior and exterior. I hope it, the Outlook and Enclave are all hits for GM...
  4. I can't see it being compared to the RAV-4..different size, different market niche. Now I could see it being compared to the Highlander, Pilot, and Murano though...
  5. Yeah, I thought Asia since Nanjing is a Chinese company...the MG brand was British brand, though.. Interesting times we live in..cars with a British brand, formerly owned by a German company, may be built in the US by a Chinese company.
  6. Duplicate post..I posted the same article (from Reuters) 4 min ago in the Asian Marques..
  7. Oklahoma..surprising choice for a location, I think. Nanjing Auto to assemble cars in Oklahoma
  8. Interesting..I like the skinny taillights and veed decklid and rear bumper..I see it has the very short deck that is en vogue these days.. I'd be interested in seeing how a coupe would look with that front and rear..
  9. Many of the visuals in that Buick Regal ad from 1987 ('88 car, '87 ad) remind me of the original Taurus ads and Reagan's 'Morning in America' ad campaign...
  10. A '69 Mustang Mach 1 hood scoop and rear wing on a Chrysler 300M. A Honda 'H' and 'Type R' badges on a worn-out '80s Camaro IROC-Z. A 'W04' Bush sticker on a Prius.
  11. Has a CTS coupe been confirmed? I haven't seen anything concrete about it..
  12. Yes, I've been a Benz fan since I was a kid..I love the Big '80s style 560 SELs and SECs .. but with all the quality/reliability issues I've read about with today's Benzes, it would be hard for me to spring for one--Lexuses are definitely the safer choice. I wouldn't want something that has to go to the dealer all the time for repairs.
  13. At 89, Kirk should be ready for a rest home.... or, I'm surprised GM hasn't arranged for him to be euthanised already...
  14. Beautiful cars...I love the design of the new LS. But I also love the new S-class design also.
  15. Those pics are so bad it's hard to tell what has actually changed from the current model.

I'm wondering why they are dragging the V8 LaCrosse intro out so long..the GP got the V8 in MY 05 and the Impala in MY 06..
  17. Vanilla always outsells other flavours. The Civic is too wierd for some buyers, so the Corolla is the more conservative choice..
  18. The Escalade is ok as a truckish luxury SUV, but for a luxury SUV, I find the X5, ML, Range Rover, and Cayenne much more desirable..the Escalade's gaudy 'bling-bling' image is just a big turn-off to me.
  19. This reminds me of the great scene in 'Office Space' with the printer.. I'm a computer guy....I enjoy working w/ computers, networks, and developing software, but I HATE printers. I have nothing but trouble with them... At home, at work, and on the system my company builds printers seem to be nothing but trouble...our application sometimes has to print 30-50k documents at night at the client's site, and it's a monster commercial printer, but there are frequently problems with it at night--hardware, software, and with the Adobe rendering engine we use for PDFs... I'm glad I'm not on production support for it..
  20. I couldn't imagine having a car w/o A/C anywhere in the US except maybe Alaska...everywhere I've lived (Fla, Oh, Mi, Ill, Co, Az) I've used the A/C. I haven't had a car w/o A/C, power windows, power brakes, power steering for 20 years. To me, cranked windows in modern cars seem like a feature from the automotive past--as out of place today as features like AM radios, carburators, live rear axles, BOF construction, etc. would be, IMHO...
  21. Interesting...I heard last month from my brother that he heard that one of the new ethanol plants is likely to be built near where he lives (Gnadenhutten, Ohio).
  22. Interesting little article.. USA Today article on cranked car windows
  23. I could see the potential of GM benefitting from Nissan's platforms and drivetrains(imagine a Malibu with Nissan's excellent V6 and transmissions instead of the same-old, same-old OHV V6 w/ 4spd auto) and both Renault and Nissan's small car expertise..
  24. My folks were married 51 years and were loyal Ford buyers most of the time, with a few Chevies, a Dodge and a Hino in the mix. All were bought new except where noted.. The ones they had before me up through 1969: Dad's first car: '41 Packard (his dad's car) When Mom & Dad got married, a new '49 Ford Fordor '52 Ford 2dr '56 Chevy Bel Air 4dr ht '58 Mercury Monterey 4dr sedan '62 Ford Fairlane wagon '65 Hino Contessa sedan (when they lived overseas) '66 Mustang coupe w/ 289 Hi-Po (was my mom's main car till '69, given to my brother who totalled it in '71) '67 Mercury Cougar (mom still has it) '69 Ford Mustang Mach 1 (mom still has it) After I was born: '68 Mercury Cougar (bought in '74) '68 Mercury Cougar XR-7 (bought in '85) '70 Ford LTD 4dr ht '73 Chevy Corvette 454 '73 Dodge 'Mobile Traveler' 21 ft motor home '76 Chevy Caprice 2dr '77 Chevy Vega '78 Southwind 25ft motor home '79 Lincoln Continental Town Car '79 Dodge Power Wagon 4x4 (bought used in '82, a real POS) '81 Chevy chevette (tow car) '82 Lincoln Town Car '82 Pace Arrow 28ft motor home '84 Ford Escort diesel (tow car, my first car) '85 Ford Mustang GT '86 Winnebago Chieftain 33 ft motor home '86 Lincoln Town Car '88 Ford Bronco II 4x4 (became mine in '94) '90 Lincoln Town Car '90 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 conv (mom still has it) '96 Lincoln Town Car (mom still has it) '96 Ford Explorer mom on her own: '05 Lincoln Navigator
  25. Yeah..the CLS is a beautiful car, but it would have made a great hardtop. The reality, though, with pretty much 100% air conditioning in cars today, is that I think people rarely ever drive with the windows down, so a hardtop (2dr or 4dr) is not a big selling point...
