  1. Mindless hooliganism. I remember seeing the burning houses on the news every year when I lived in Michigan.
  2. ?? I don't get it..it's a Comcast.net homepage. I see that every day.
  3. Wasn't there going to be a Silverado Classic carried into '07?
  4. Not really...the Avenger is coming as an '07, isn't it? The '07 Malibu is still going to be the current model (the new Malibu isn't coming until MY '08). So it's a valid comparison.
  5. I guess it will compete more with the lower price end of the midsize market---Malibu, Sonata, Optima...
  6. Speaking of Chrysler concepts, one I loved in the '90s was the Atlantic...
  7. Hmmm...a sublime Avenger Daytona is inevitable, I'm afraid..probably a sublime Ram Daytona also. What's next, a sublime Caravan Daytona? A Durango Daytona? A Calibre Daytona??
  8. I've long thought the Tucker was hideous, but as far as the late '30s and '40s, I lthink the '38-40 Fords, the '39-40 Mercurys, the '40-41 Lincoln Continental, the late '30s-early 40s Lincoln Zephyrs, the Cadillac Sixty Special, the Cords, Auburn Boattails, and some Packards were all beautiful cars... As far as owning an old car for a weekend toy, the oldest I'd probably go is the '60s or early '70s..still modern enough to be drivable in today's traffic.
  9. Though I can appreciate them at car shows, cars that old seem to me like they would be rather unpleasant to drive...either that, or I'm too used to the creature comforts and reliability of modern cars..
  10. A used CTS-v, maybe.. There are a lot of cars in that price range I'd be interested in, but most are imports....like a: '90s Acura NSX mid-90s Porsche 911 (993) late model Porsche Boxster S 2002-2003 BMW M3 2003 BMW M5 to name a few found on ebaY.. $35k is a great price point..there are a lot of appealing cars that have depreciated to that point. If I were buying a daily driver now, I'd look for a new car in the $35-40k range, but for a non-primary car, I could find something quite appealing for that price..
  11. Hmmm..sounds like something is infected with a virus..spread through the flash drive. When multiple programs start crashing, it's often a virus (a weakness of Windows).
  12. You have an HP? A google on this phrase turned up this: Try going to: " Start>Run>type "msconfig" and hit enter>goto "Startup">Scroll down and find the Backweb Agent and untick the box> Click Apply/Ok>Restart the computer and see if it helps *Note: Backweb is an unneccessary program provided by HP/Compaq that sends information from your computer to the HP Centre. Some may consider this spyware and seeing as it has no effect on your computer whatsoever, it is safe to disable from the Startup options."
  13. Yeah, they want a piece of the Lexus/Infiniti action..
  14. It's hard to tell if it's off-center or not from that photo..the wierd thing about the Camry's console is that it's not integrated with the center stack..seems like it's an afterthought..do they have a base model Camry without the console or something?
  15. Hmm...maybe GM can build a Ridgeline competitor from the Acadia/Outlook/Enclave platform...call it the Chevrolet Cheyenne..
  16. There were a ton of them... the Mustangs are all 6-cyl automatics. Hertz also had some Shelbys, but they are outrageously pricey...they also had a few C6 convertibles and XKs. The Hertz lot also had lots of Corollas, Crown Vics and Grand Marquises (I should have rented one of these--way more room for 4, but the convertible was more fun). Lots of Dodge Calibers, Auras, and G6 rentals from Avis around also.. (by the way, I know I've railed against BOF as being old school, but lately the Crown Vic LX Sport has been looking very attractive to me..am I getting old???)
  17. It would probably be horribly heavy..not to mention the GMT 900 is a ladder type frame, isn't it? A BOF car would need a perimeter frame..
  18. The oddest aspect of the current 'bu interior is the wierd vent treatment on the upper center stack, IMHO.
  19. About the only thing 2006 I've listened to a lot of lately is the Red Hot Chill Peppers 'Stadium Arcadium' double CD, Audioslave's 'Revalations' and the 2006 Miami Vice soundtrack.. Otherwise, I have a steady diet of my usual U2, Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Peal Jam, Foo Fighters, with some occasional Tori Amos, Moby, Mogwai, M83, Kraftwerk, The Cure, New Order, Dead Can Dance, and Sigur Ros..
  20. Oh yeah..took lots of pics... and ate lots of macadamia nuts for snacking...chocolate covered ones... wasabi and terayaki flavored ones.. (my favorite).. and guava chips. (also ingested lots of immodium and pepto-bismol.. Got to catch up on sleep tonight so I can be back to work tommorow.
  21. I like Winding Road (online magazine)...for the print mags, I still subscribe to Car & Driver, Road & Track, and Automobile, with Automobile probably my current favorite....been subscribing to it since it's first issue in the '80s..
  22. My girlfriend, my sister and her boyfriend, and I went to Hawaii for the weekend--flew out of Phoenix Friday morning to Honolulu, came back late last night then my g/f and flew back to Denver this morning..I'm a zombie (less than 3 hrs sleep last night). We went for the Pearl Jam/U2 concert in Aloha stadium--the last show on U2's Vertigo tour...incredible show. Pearl Jam was my favorite 'grunge' band in college and U2 is probably my all-time favorite band (behind Pink Floyd), so it was a very special night. We had an '06 Mustang convertible rental..a bit tight for 4 people, but a lot of fun for driving around the island. There were loads of Dodge Calibers and Saturn Auras (the first I had seen of them on the road--they look great)...rentals I presume, like all the V6 Mustang convertibles.. Crown Vics and Grand Marquis were pretty common also, many with sunroofs (something I've never seen on one on the mainland..) Ate way too much bbq pork, spare ribs, chicken, macaroni salad, Thai, etc. I had never been to Hawaii, but I'm going to have to go back for a week or two eventually...what a beautiful place...the beaches, the mountains, everything so GREEN!!!!
  23. '00 Jeep Grand Cherokee-- since 8/00 '96 BMW M3-- since 6/98 '87 Ford Mustang GT-- since 6/87
  24. Looks great...interesting, I didn't realize there was an Astra sedan. In Europe, I think only recall seeing the hatchbacks...
  25. They'd still be owned by Renault and building 4th generation Alliances and Encores..
