  1. No surprise with the gas mileage results...I wouldn't have expected big, heavy squarish V8 trucks to do any better than 15 mpg or so..
  2. Reminds me of some older Citroens w/ the hydropneumatic suspension..they could be driven on 3 wheels..I remember seeing one doing that in a ChiPs episode when I was a kid..
  3. "I don't much care for..." icy roads.. snowstorms.. Republicans.. diarrhea.... though I try and take immodium before and after spicy food, I forget sometimes.. I'll enjoy a delicious vindaloo, then my arse burns with the heat of 1000 suns, red-hot lavapoo pouring out...not fun.
  4. Overall I like the styling, but...there's something about the greenhouse--specifically the rear door glass area that disturbingly reminds me of the last 2 generations of Civics...the C-pillar and upper rear door just doesn't say MB to me..
  5. It must be a sign... I guess it's time to trade up to an Avalon.
  6. The 4dr Wrangler is a great idea...surprised they didn't do it in '87 or before.. but the Compass????
  7. It's that's it branded as a Jeep is what is most offensive... if it were a Chevy, I'm sure people would be ecstatic...
  8. I doubt if we will see any new GM FWD models bigger than the Epsilons... once the Ws and Gs are gone, that's it for large FWD, I think...
  9. Something like this makes sense for Toyota for developing countries....India, countries in Africa, rural China, etc..
  10. it would be nice if they had a larger venue out in the 'burbs close to the airport..that would be more convenient for out-of-town visitors and locals alike, I would think.
  11. Actually, that's a good thing for this type of vehicle..more weight over the front wheels should give it better traction...and it's more space-efficient so it can have a flat(er) floor.
  12. I have a soft spot in my heart for '80s B-body Delta 88s...from my high school days. As far as vintage Olds, I really like the '71-73 88 coupe and convertible and the '71-72 Toronado.
  13. low-cost materials...hmmm...maybe styrofoam for interior trim and plywood or tinfoil for exterior panels?
  14. Looks pretty rusty...I wonder how bad the underneath is.. I guess my view on buying old cars to restore (for fun, not as a business) would be to buy a car in the best possible condition that I can afford...it would always be cheaper in the long run than buying something cheap that needed a costly restoration..
  15. It's good to see Bill Richardson also enter the race... not sure what his chances are, but I like seeing candidates from the West....(and I don't mean Texas--Texas is part of the South, IMHO).
  16. Autoweek article. At Capacity Toyota article
  17. RC2 (formerly Racing Champions) is a diecast company primarily..the went on a buying binge over the last few years, bought ERTL (previous owners of AMT) and Playing Mantis (owners of Johnny Lightning) and really don't have a clue it looks like as to how to make a profit on model kits... I suspect they are looking to unload AMT to another company...I suspect someone else will buy AMT within this year. Since RC2 bought ERTL/AMT they let go of most of their design staff... except for the Chrysler 300C and new Camaro concept, the new kits developed under RC2 have been pretty bad (the F&F Eclipse, Supra, Evo, 350Z). Otherwise, they've been doing straight reissues and modified reissues of old AMT/MPC tools. I hope to see the AMT name carry on; I've been building AMT models for almost 30 years and have many that are older than I am (dating back to their 1958 annuals). The oldest models in my collection are AMTs---an AMT '58 Edsel ht, and several '59 annuals--Impala ht and convertible, Bonneville ht & convertible, Invicta ht & convertible, a Galaxie ht, and Edsel ht & convertible.
  18. Looking at the pic on the HSV website, they look like Mazda 6 taillights, but flush. http://www.hsv.com.au/index_eseries.asp
  19. That's insane..a car on a truck/SUV platform? In the 21st century? No way..
  20. Maybe they will use the Zeta platform for the next DTS?
  21. I'm sure the next CLK will be a ht like the current one..
  22. The Post Office has a bunch of the SWB ones around here...labeled 'Dodge C-V' instead of Caravan ('Cargo-Van' is the commercial name, apparently)....along with some Windstars and a few of those older wierd little trapazoidal box trucks...
  23. Looks like something for a '50s truck...
  24. True... I'd rather not see the GC get any larger than it is... I've taken mine off-road a few times every year...and know other owners that do that, but this being Colorado, that's probably an anomaly compared to the rest of the country..
  25. Agreed...they already have the Durango and Aspen for those who want/need a 7 passenger SUV...I'm all for keeping the GC the size it is...
