  1. I don't understand why they couldn't use the Olive Ash or the wood they use in the Platinums for all Cadillacs... at the price you pay, I don't think you should be getting plood. Yes, I'm aware that in previous Cadillacs they used real wood and switched to plood based on reviews calling it fake-looking, but there are so many rich and beautiful woods and grain-styles out there, they could really spice up a dull interior with the correct choice. I'd also like to see different materials used--there are so many creative ways to decorate, why aren't they showing up anywhere even in our most-luxurious cars?
  2. I agree... I've heard nothing but excellent comments in reviews about the plood in the new LaCrosse... they claimed they had to study it carefully to discover it wasn't real. I always wondered why they couldn't mimic real wood in cars... just don't make it form crazy shapes real wood couldn't conform to, and give it a nice grain/detail.
  3. That was another point I was going to bring up... it's GM's photography which we've seen in many instances in the past tends not to capture the real beauty of its vehicles. I agree with you to a degree on knots... I don't like knots or burl in a car's interior... it doesn't look right. On actual wood furniture, a knot can be a thing of beauty in my eyes... but over a large expanse of space which wood in a car never seems to have. I say, see it in person before knocking it... only because you may be pleasantly surprised. I thought the plood/interior in the 07-09 LaCrosse was horrendous, but when I saw it in person, it actually looked like a very warm, inviting interior--it completely shocked me. It looked MUCH more upscale than in photos... and what shocked me most is that it was on a dated design.
  4. Yes, I'm replying to my own. It also reminds me of the RL's wood before the refresh.
  5. I would say the definition Buick originally set up for the Lucerne (then the LaCrosse Super), with the 6/8 ventiports has been gone since EVERY MANUFACTURER has tacked on airholes, including GM, and it's essentially lost all meaning. Hell, I've seen the 3 ventiports you find on a 2005 Park Avenue Ultra, on a Camry with those cloth roofs (whatever they're called).
  6. Reg, would it kill you to wait to see the wood in person? And it kind-of reminds me of the tortoise shell accents in previous Chryslers.
  7. This reminds me of George buying "John Voight's" LeBaron.
  8. Interested in seeing the "Choccachino" color.
  9. I really like the plood in the Verano. I think it looks quite handsome. I would be fine if it only came on the cashmere/cocoa trim.
  10. You know me... INTERIORS INTERIORS INTERIORS with closeups of the gauge clusters and center stack.
  11. I really like it... everything except the chrome eyebrows on the rear. But seriously, love the interior, plood IMO looks good, happy with offered features.. just hope lower trims of the car don't look too cheap.
  12. This is good news to my friend who has a 2004 Impala and doesn't have an OnStar mirror but totally wants it.
  13. John
  14. Palin (unfortunately that's what came to mind first)
  15. That is one of the first things I thought when I looked at the pictures of the car. Granted it's in mint condition, but one problem and where are you going to get an instrument cluster from? It's all digital! Where are you going to find one of those lying around!
  16. My local Buick dealer has a 91 Reatta with 2,787 miles on it. They wanted $32,999... after a year of not selling, they're asking $29,999. I still think they're about $20,000 too high
  17. I see Rivieras on the road all the time and they still look good today. I was very upset when I saw the Mark VIII (my fav car at the time), the Continental and the LS all go. To me, they were awesome cars that needed updates/replacements (albeit, I didn't care much for the last gen Continental).
  18. That has been there for quite some time now...
  19. I'm at 201,000 miles and it starts up and runs continually.
  20. I voted you up one to counteract the negativity from your post because I totally agree. The 300 should have gotten an update a couple of years ago instead of remaining stale for about six years. This honestly looks like a heavy refresh. I haven't seen the interior (which bugs me when articles report on such drastic changes yet fail to post a single pic of them). A heavily refreshed interior and IMO a mildly modified exterior does not make a new car that's supposed to last for another, what, 5-6 years?
  21. I'm a clean/neat freak as well, but white to me just says impossible to keep white for the life of the car. Too many things can discolor it. Hell, my parents are neat-freaks and the cashmere leather in their Lucerne is darknening with age, and I'm not sure what they're doing that's making that happen.
  22. One of my big problems with Chryslers and Fords interiors were that everything seemed so boxy/squarish. This update is unbelievable--and thank GOD. The previous lines/shapes of the interior reminded me of my old `87 Sundance. Although the white on black looks nice it just makes me wonder how it'll look if you don't stay absolutely on top of it at all times, and after a few years, will it look cream-colored due to wear.
  23. Congrats! Can you snap a couple of pics of the interior?
  24. Just looked and according to the Chevy website, it's not available on the LS, but available on the Eco.
  25. I believe it. Was a bit disappointed with the power of the Lucerne's base 6-speaker stereo compared to the 6-speaker setup in the last gen Sonata. Can we avoid all the Sonata = everything amazing comments just because I compared the two?
