  1. You're not alone there. My parents Regal GS was chosen for that reason, and my father has commented before that it is still a just a tad wallowy at times for the "sporty" Buick @ the time. :AH-HA_wink:
  2. Chuck Norris once visited the Virgin Islands. They are now The Islands.
  3. Escorts are cheap on CL, so long as you don't care if has a stick or not.
  4. I wish I could have bought one of those SC2's, that's really cheap considering the're essentially new cars. That Caprice (despite the odd color combo ) was an even better deal. BTW: There never was an N-body convert. in regular production, right?
  5. I also worked ~5 yrs between AZ and O'Reilly part time, and a couple of years at a dealership. I used to joke w/ my coworkers sometime that one of the best perks in the business could be a "Get the **** out!" privilege to use once or twice a year.
  6. If you haven't already done so, you can test the ISP part http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ BTW: If the internet is a series of tubes, will Al Gore come over with a pipe snake and clean them?
  7. LOL, imagine the look you'd get going into Radio Shack or BB and asking if they had a tube tester.
  8. No CarFax access here, but I can tell you a couple of it's RPO's tell who the 1st owner was at least: C1U - ENTERPRISE RENT A CAR, FLT - FLEET PROCESSING OPTION.
  9. It's probably a good idea to at least re-check the fluid level since they may may have just guessed at the quick lube. If you want do it yourself: -Have it sitting level (i.e. on lift/over pit/on 4 jack stands) -Start and warm to fluid to at least 104F/40C (I usually just warm it up until pan is real warm but not burning hot). -Shift through each detent on shifter. -Leave eng. running in park while checking fluid like usual. -Remove check plug on trans. near pass. side inboard CV joint. fluid should be at level of threads, if not add through red cap up on top of tranny until it runs out check plug hole then stops. Replace check plug (9 lb-ft to be exact).
  10. IIRC, wasn't the only thing they would really buy there were Astro vans? I know they sold <5K Saturns and few "Toyota" Cavaliers. Course, the fact that they tariff the **** out of our cars over there probably had somthing to do w/ it.
  11. Yes, when I was a saturn parts guy there were several times when it was very difficult to ensure a cust. that there was no cam sensor to swap out on their 1.9 and why their wires and/or their nasty looking coil towers would be the real fault.
  12. While their at it, they could have just dusted off this thing and showed it as their new subcompact.
  13. I think the issue discussed is the trucks w/ hydroboost power brakes having a (usually very small) drop in P/S assist when cranking the wheel fast and braking at the same time. GM's response is a rather weak and somewhat ignorant sounding retort but I think unless this guy somehow had two trucks in a row w/ bad P/S pumps he is just being very picky. In the hydroboost equipped P/U's and Astros I've driven this I barely notice such behavior and I normally drive a VUE with it's grossly overboosted at parking lot speed Electric P/S.
  14. As I think it was discussed here some time ago, Saturn's coming to being seemed to be Roger Smith's baby back in the 80's. That is one reason some higher-ups in GM were never Saturn fans either - It was like telling them their brands were hopeless to conquest import buyers so we have to make up a new brand and distance ourselves from it marketing-wise. I really liked and appreciated Saturn and my two vehicles I have owned from them, but I am also not horribly suprised by their seemingly apparent demise as they have a fairly incoherent identity between where they started and where they are now, which both puts off many the old S-car buyers and doesn't fully convince many of the "upscale" buyers they try marketing to currently.
  15. Damn, only 57K on it too.
  16. Not bad. They did have for the time a pretty powerful 4 banger.
  17. Do they still even make this thing?
  18. Futura are usually made by Cooper Tire IIRC. They probably aren't bad tires. They do sell other private label stuff (Cornell ?) I'm not as sure about that stuff.
  19. The '95+ J cars made the two much closer, but the S still felt just a bit more fun to drive, especally if it was one of the 2's with it's Twin Cam motor, 4 wheel discs (sometimes), stiff suspension, and speed-sensitive steering.
  20. Motelona FTW! Seriously though, if you have T-Mobile (i.e. 1900 MHz PCS service, AT&T is mostly only 850MHz) you could also find a old Nokia 5190 that would accept a SIM and took all the colored faceplates. I had one from '00-'04, it was a great phone. I 'donated' mine away back then, i'm sure they sell for almost nothing on eBay anymore.
  21. Yeah, but talk to them and they all think they are non-conformist for bying thier import. BTW: Do they ever not have "the big one" sale at Kohl's?
  22. Mopar or No Car, Eh? :AH-HA_wink:
  23. Good video. I see on the news or read way too often here in Pensacola and Mobile about traffic deaths or permanent injuries where nobody involved used their seatbelts.
  24. C-class looks like an Optima in back, now E-class looks like Amanti. Is there going to be a M-B that looks like the Kia "Soul" next?
  25. They can't find the pickle either?
