I guess I will throw my 2 cents in this debate since everybody else is. Much as I like my 2 old RWD B-bodies I can admit one thing. I would much rather drive my FWD Impala in snow or ice anytime. Much less chance of the back end coming around with the Impala. Muchn easier to get the Impala moving also. Simple physics. And I have plenty of experience in driving both on snow and ice. Great plenty. I dont think like some do that I am the best driver there is. There is always somebody better.

Appleton Wisconsin isnt quite up there huh? -
I could live on Pasta. Sausage is another favorite(The German in me). Italian dishes are a good thing for me. Some Mexican, Real egg rolls.

And now for something a little different....

Cant wait to get mine. I am goin g to try to preserve it but use it once in the while enough tio enjoy it. It will be like getting reaquainted with an old friend. Like I said it has a lot of life in it and it has not seen ANY hard use. 12.5 horse Kawasaki engine and hydrostatic transmission. Its RWD too. It doesnt have a mixed drink holder like the Sears does but I am sure that could be arrainged. -

I am getting a 1986 John Deere lawn tractor model 165 from my uncle. It was my grandma and grandpas until grandma moved out of her house. I always used it and loved it. So I will have 2 riding lawnmowers this summer. It is in fairly good shape. Not a lot of hours since it was only used a few times a year. It just needs a little cleanup and the right front tire is bald. -
Thinking about selling all of my diecasts and memorabilia
2005 EquinoxLS replied to Camino LS6's topic in Merchandise Lookout
I almost sold the Bonneville last week due to an impending situation but my family asd friends reminded me that I wouldnt get much for it anyway and that it is not expensive to have around. They all know how much the 2 old ones mean to me. That would pain me to ever have to part with either of them. So I will keep it. In other words they are telling me I would lose more than I would gain by selling it. -
Whatever works I guess.

Sounds like you already made your choice. If you dont mind the fuel economy a 455 could be the way to go here. I agree with you that the 307 feels strangled as it comes from the factory. Mine on the '81 does and supposedly that one has bigger ports than the later ones did. Good luck in what you do. On ly nice thing though about the 350 versus the 455 is that the 350 is more of a bolt in operation where the 455 you have to modify things a lot. Hmmmmmmmmmm maybe in 20 years when the 307 gives out in the '81 I should try a 455 huh?

Not until late April or May here. It was 48 here and thats a heat wave for this time of the year in Northeast Wisconsin.

Too bad about your situation. My Mom and I for the most part get along pretty well. Sometimes she forgets I am a grownup but I deal with that pretty well. I too dont really make enough money to live on my own and her money situation is going to change. I think it will all work out though. I guess I can say do what you can with what you have. Maybe when she doesnt have your help to pay the bills thing will change for her. Good luck to you and Jessica. This bad economy doesnt help either as far as finding work. I am crossing my fingers right now that my job holds out.

There certainly has been a lot of things happening this year. Those of us that still have jobs should be greatful and we should all give a round of support for those that lost theirs. We are with you 100% !!!! Too many people here to pick as for who contributes to this forum the most. I figure we all contribute something and thats what this is all about. Almost time to shower and get to bed. Thank you all for all the interesting conversation.

We got our ice storm a few weeks ago then it got really cold. Salt doesnt work too well when it is below zero. It did at leat get warm enough to get the driveway cleared though. Now it is just cold. About 5 above zero though the cold doesnt bother me too much. I was forced to drive though that ice storm a few weeks ago and the Impala did just fine. People just need to learn to slow down. I was doing about 40-45 on a 65 mile an hour highway. Made it safe though. I dont even think there were any power outages in that mess though our infostructure is made for the most part to deal with this type of thing. Good luck to all of you riding out the ice storm.

Very funny. And somewhat true. Though not all of American cars are junk. I am loving my Impala so far. And I liked my Equinox.

At least Obamas birth certificate was likely written in paper. When McCain was born paper wasnt even invented yet. Why some people would have wanted more of the same with McCain is still a mystery to me but to each their own. I hope that Obama can at least get the wheels turning on some economic reforms. People have to have jobs in order for this country to survive. We cannot make it just on the rich. REAGONOMICS hasnt worked!!!!

Circuit City to liquidate remaining US stores
2005 EquinoxLS replied to Intrepidation's topic in The Lounge
I dropped in ours this morning just to browse. I wished the employees good luck in finding new work. I couldnt stand to stay in there too long though. No music or TVs going and nobody there reminded me of when our company did layoffs in 2001-2003. The silence was deafening and the few employees that were there looked like they were just going through the motions. Why put forth much effort when you know you are out anyway in a month or 2. I know they already got rid of most of the people because like I said, there were maybe 4-5 employees there today. SAD and scary!!!!! -
I would maybe have loved another Monte Carlo (Yes the FWD one all the RWD lovers hate) but a new one want available so I got the next best thing the Impala. Considering it has had to do a lot of people hauling duties since I got it I am not sorry I got it. Much easier to deal with when you have a group of people. And I am a FWD liker in the weather we have had. That thing goes through snow like a SUV.

I have wondered if schooling is even worth it considering how juch you have to pay for it. Though the company thay bought us does have tuition reinbursment so I may look into that and some of the online classes.

My fuel economy right now seems to go for the most part right to the window sticker. about 20-21 city and 28-29 highway. Mine has 1800 miles on it right now. Just had the first oil change done on it so I expect the mileage to go up slightly. I use just regular 87 octane. Havent tried E85. Its not worth it right now to bother with it. Mine is the really dark Imperial Blue with the ebony interior. Its a beautiful color if you can keep it clean. That thing is like an SUV in the snow too. It handles it VERY well.

Cant complain about my 2008 Impala LS. Only thing the dealer screwed up on which is minor is that they didnt quite put enough air in the tires and after I took delivery and drove it in the cold they said the tires were low. The dealer fixed it though and so far so good. My only other question for everybody here that has one is that does it seem like you dont get a real lot of foot heat when it is set to the floor positon?
-
VERY nice. And the blue just sets it off wonderfully. My Impala is nearly that same blue and it too looks wonderful when its clean. I always make the dealer put mud guards on any car I buy. I think it is cheap insurance against stone chips on the rocker panels. My this Malibu provide you with many years of trouble free service. I am seeing lots of them here in Northeast Wisconsin.

Cool truck. GM cant say you and I didnt try to help them you with the truck and me with the Impala.
