Mine is the 4-door and has the 5.0 liter(307). Engine is perfect. Had to get the transmisson rebuilt though. I dont think they made too many Bonnevilles in 1980-1981 versus the Oldsmobile-Buick-Chevrolet versions. I have seen those few on Ebay myself. People tell me I have the best engine offered at the time.

Tell your sister and mother to start showing a bit of pride for our country and support our own. And for gods sakes quit reaing Consumer Reports!!!!

I am pretty comfortable with my co-workers. A few are 18-20 years old and need to grow up a little bit As long as people dont bother me too much I am ok. I run a wave soldering machine at an electronics plant. I am also a trainer for others that run the other waves. I kind of though am more or less the person that tells them what needs to be done. More or less I am kind of their boss. Doesnt bother me. They want it that way and I would rather have it that way because then I can make sure things get done right. We are always pulling pranks on each other.

We havent seen sun for about 3 weeks now. And its wet all the time. Did something happen where we ended up in Seattle Washington or Portland Oregon? Still though its better than having your house blown 200 miles in a hurricane. Or incinerated in a forest fire.

There are women in here for me to get a crush on? Didnt really know that.

I am fairly conservative. My only real things I spend money on are the Equinox lease, the Bonneville maintenence, and I do admit to liking to go out to eat sometimes. And I 99% of the time dont like to go too cheap. Culvers, The Four Star accross the street from me are good. Very seldom do I go as cheap as McDonalds. I eat well, I like meat from the meat market rather than any of the grocery stores. No worry of E Coli with this meat market.

I have dealt with that too but this person was talking up Toyota and how perfect they are. Another wanted a Honda Civic and said that Camaros dont handle worth crap and are overweight. Tell you what, I will take a Camaro over a damn Civic. At least the Camaro is the genuine article. For people that complain about the Equinoxes old pushrod engine, it has something the Toyotas and Hondas lack and may never know. Torque. You dont need to rev it to 6000 RPMs to make it accelarate.

Like I have said, there is nothing wrong with the FWD ones that are here now. But there should be some RWD versions for those that want them. Then let the market decide.

The new Impala should be good in a crash test considering that the 2000-2005 got a 5 star rating. I know the Malibu is real good also. As for seating position I do like being up higher in the Equinox. But I also like the 1981 Bonneville and 1984 Buick Park Avenue too. Some people(My parents) like a little taller vehicle because you dont have to slouch at all to get into it. The Equinox is the perfect height for this. I dont fault the Ford 500 for being higher because there are a lot of people who want it like that. Want low. Get a sports car.
-
Dont be concerned about it being an old persons car. I have had a few of the old ones and currently have the 1981 Pontiac Bonneville which may be considered an old persons car. Know what? Dont care. I drove the parents former 2002 Impala quite a few times and didnt feel like an old person.

I have seen that. I almost had a woman that was taller than me. Wouldnt matter. Back to the subject though. There is more room in the Maxx than the regular one if you configure the back seat right. I wish they would reconsider the Maxx. They made such a big deal with it last year at the auto show. The factory guy had to show Dad and I all it could do. It was a consideration before we looked closer at the Equinox.

Once in the great while we might get a mouse in the basement. Dad usually manages to find the holes and fill them with roofing cement. Its not a real problem though.

I was a good little boy this year. I have had times though when I wasnt. One time I drank about half a bottle of Bacardi 151. Then went out to Park Central and had the drink special. After about 9 whiskey and Cokes, I kind of figured it was time to let up so I only had 2 more screwdrivers before my friends were nice enough to take me to their house. Something tells me you shouldnt drink that much. I didnt puke luckily though. Hangover.............. That didnt start until about 3:00 the next afternoon. I was still drunk at 11:00 in the morning when I woke up.

I cant wait to see it at the Chicago auto show in February. It looks like a nice redo. Hopefully the truck and Suburban and Avalanche can have the same upgrades. Along with the engine upgrades to show the world that the Hemi and Titan motor arent the best thing to God.

It does create more choice in the market.

They only care about the cars value and thats it.
-
I just find it too bad that on full coverage they only will pay to the value of the car in the case of the old ones. I almost lost a 1979 Impala that way. It got rear ended by a Ford pickup and bent the frame behind the rear wheels. Broke the left rear shock mount too. It came within $12 of being totalled. That would have been a shame because it was practiclly like brand new. They should have another way and maybe they do for those of us that like the old stuff but dont want it totaled because somebody scratches it.

That could work too.

What Era of Automobiles is your Favorite?
2005 EquinoxLS replied to capriceman's topic in The Lounge
To really be truthful there is a little of each in my blood. I will instead try to list which ones I would buy if I had lots of money I have the 1981 Bonneville. 1977-79 Chevrolet Impala 1971-76 Chevrolet Impala or Caprice 4-door hardtop 1969-70 Chevrolet Bel-Air or MAYBE an Impala 1978-80 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 1980-84 Buick Park Avenue. 1976-79 Dodge Aspen 2-door Special Edition 1978 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 1980-87 Chevrolet Caprice 2-door 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LTZ My current Chevrolet Equinox. -
I got a few of these after leasing the Equinox. I didnt see about it because I like my current provider and like Knightfans concerns I didnt know if they would want to insure the 1981 Bonneville. I want both cars with the same company. Much easier that way.
-
I agree fully with the above statement. It isnt 1973. I have to wonder if a RWD Monte Carlo would even sell better than the current FWD one. Like I have said before the Monte Carlo couldnt stay the same forever. It had to change to stay with the times. Maybe though RWD is feasable now with the advances made sinve the last one in 1988. MAYBE. Does GM want to spend a pile of money on something that could be a very iffy project? A solution I thought of is keep the current Monte Carlo but remane it something else maybe even the Impala coupe and make a RWD Monte Carlo and a Camaro off the same platform but make them different in respect to their names. The Monte Carlo being the longer wider one being able to seat 4 people comfortably. The Camaro being shorter and being a 2+2.

Where should I start? RWD on everything. There is room for all powertrain combinations based on the use of the vehicle. Country music Rap music(Mostly) Too many people around me at one time. Old Fords(about 1995 and older) New Chryslers (1990 on) Internet sites that dont work like they are supposed to. People volenteering me to do stuff for others. Illegal Drugs. Smoking. Bullys( we are not ten years old on the playground. Get over it). Import cars. Some safety features on power equiptment. Heat and Humidity(Winter isnt really a bother to me). Most vegetables. I am sure I will think of more later.

You will love the V6 and it doesnt get much worse mileage than the 4 cylinder would.
