  1. American followed by Italian and Greman with a little Mexican thrown in for good measure.
  2. Should go to Ozzfest sometime Knightfan.
  3. But see the Lincoln looked good with that. I also dont mind that the 1981 Bonneville has one but I would never put one on a new car. NEVER. Imagine if you will one of these on an Equinox? Think about that.
  4. In how many pieces?
  5. Depending who is playing Ozzfest at Alpine Valley is something I look forward to. Other than that I dont really get into that much. I am kind of a solitary person. Anytime I can be by myself and not have to deal with other people(Including parents)is a wonderful thing for me. I know it sounds weird but thats me.
  6. Graduating high school and knowing I didnt have to deal with those jerks again. That summer (1994) I just worked part time and had fun with my friends. About September I started buckling down and working full time and actually doing somthing. Car buying for some reason is always an exciting thing for me also.
  7. Dont like the STS? Though what you are looking for is a VERY good thing.
  8. I never noticed that in the 3 that I had. All of them though had good shocks and springs so that may have been a good thing. On all 3 of them I also had heavier duty springs in the back. The factory ones are very soft and allow the rear end to go down too much. Having 3 people in the back of these without heavy duty springs is enough to make it bottom out in certain conditions. I notice this same thing though on the Ford Crown vics too. I dont know though about the 1991 and later ones. Mine were a 1981 Caprice, 1979 Impala and currently a 1981 Bonneville.

I was pleasently surprised when I sat in one at the Chicago Auto Show. The windows dont seem so undersized when you are sitting in it. It does have more room than a lot of cars these days. I fit pretty well in the back. If you have large feet it is a little bit of a pain to get back there but once you are there it has plenty of back seat room. The cargo area is plenty big for what most people will use it for. As for the control positions I am used to some of it from having an Equinox. I know they give mileage ratings but I wonder what people are really getting that own these?
  10. Got to look at a 2006 Monte Carlo at the Chicago Auto show. I actually do like the new front end better than the old one. I wish they had used wood trim instead of the silver for the interior. The new radio is cool if its the same as the one on the new Impala I tried. I am still a little annoyed though at the cost cutting measures compared to the 2000 I had. The SS version doesnt seem all that much different from the base version just based on sitting in both. At least they made more of an effort to make the SS Impala different from the base one. Oh I am sure they drive much differently though. I am also ticked that they removed nearly all the badging from it. Including the interior badge just above the glove box. I still miss my 2000 to a degree even though the engine choices werent as nice as now. put all the stuff back on that has been removed through the years and I will be a lot happier.
  11. I wouldnt mind seeing a picture of this myself. I liked the LS far better than the SS as far as looks. What difference in real life was there between the SS 305 V8 and the regular one like in the LS?
  12. I just got done cleaning up the foot of snow we just got in Northeast Wisconsin. At least I didnt have to go to work today. They called and told me not to go in. It is 16 degrees now but they are saying -15 to -20 tommorrow night. Saturday is the bus trip down to Chicago for the Chicago auto show. Lucky I have 2 snowblowers and small 3 horse one and a 9 horse one for the driveway and big stuff. The small one is surprisingly capable for its small size.
  13. Isnt the dash padded? The 2000 I had did have a padded dash. I agree the cost cutting is unfortunate because when it came out in 2000 it came with quite a few nice things standard. I would have had to get an upper level 2005 when I was looking to get the same stuff the 2000 had. Thats when I passed on it and got the Equinox. Well............ I also needed something more practical too. I think too the reason Chevrolet didnt do as much with the interior of the Monte Carlo as they did the Impala is because the Monte Carlo interior didnt get bashed nearly as much as the Impalas did.
  14. I agree it isnt always easy. I live at home yet and I am 30. I go to work every day and hardly ever take off. I am always on time with everything as far as paying and being to work on time. I dont go out much or do most any extracurricular activites. My only things I do for fun are the computer and when I can drive my vehicles. Rent here is between $400-$500 a month for a normal place.
  15. No Novas. No Camaros. No Chevelle. A 1979 Impala. A 1981 Caprice. A 2000 Monte Carlo. No El Camino.
  16. I am currently involved with a 1984 Buick Park Avenue that has 260,000 miles on it. Runs like a new car but uses a lot of gas. The body is pretty good. well,,, at least what you can see. Its rusted under the doors and a little around the rear wheelwells. The interior is practiclly like new. The cruise control and A/C dont work anymore but did when my sister bought it 4 years ago. It still can be trusted to drive most anywhere. Figure it survived 22 Wisconsin winters. Most imports are rusted to the point where they are unsafe way before this.
  17. The window switches on the center console do take a bit of getting used to in the Equinox too. But you eventually get used to it.
  18. If its like the Equinox they are tweeters for the sound system.
  19. I dont think that the loss of the 2500 is a bad thing. The ones I always see are the 1500s. I drove one of the 1500s and was impressed with its performance. It rode like a nice car. even with the off-road suspension.
  20. Styling is subjective.
  21. Funny thing is it runs VERY good. It actually runs better than the Bonneville. It never so much as misfires.
  22. I have thought about having the oxygen sensor replaced. As for the sniffer test will the fact that there is no converter on the exhaust make this test not work right? Both vehicles are bone stock.
  23. As bad as the intake manifold gasket issues are on the GM minivans it is still better than Chryslers transmissions. Which dont seem to be improving either. I thought the 2004 and later ones had a redesigned gasket to try to solve this problem. I may never know since I leased my Equinox and will likely be giving it back before this would happen.
