  1. I didnt have too much of a problem with torque steer in the 2004 Impala SS I drove but I also couldnt help thinking that they probably shouldnt try to put more power through this platform. I may have to try a new SS to see if I was right. Yes FWD is better in snow and I wouldnt want to go backwards to a RWD for that reason, but I must also say the GTO I drove a little after the Impala SS handled its V8 a lot better.
  2. I dont really care too much about whats going on right this second. I will be intersted in the 2009 models since that is when my lease expires on the Equinox. Hopefully they have done some things to the Equinox by then because I really like the vehicle. The HHR may be another contender when that time comes.
  3. Regular unleaded is up to $2.94 here in northeast Wisconsin. About the only thing I may do less of is drive the 1984 Buick Park Avenue that gets 11-12 miles to the gallon in town. Even the 15-16 miles to the gallon in the 1981 Bonneville is better. Or the 16-17 in the Equinox. It would be nice to fix the Buick but I am hesitant to spend much more money on it if we are going to sell it next fall.
  4. Does leasing count? If so then I got the Equinox brand new.
  5. The 1984 Buick Park Avenue I have my hands into has 260,000 miles. Far as I know it has the origional engine and maybe the origional transmission.
  6. 1981 Caprice 2-door. This one had the 229 V6. 1979 Chevrolet Impala 4-door.
  7. I would definatly get ABS. I can see the benefits in the last 2 cars I had especially in winter. I dont know about LSD but my dad said you have to be really careful with it in the winter. Once you start spinning its harder to stop. I would never get a madern car witout A/C. It helps defog the winshield and if its really humid and hot you can be comfortable driving it.
  8. These sound like good upgrades. I dont think the current engine is as terrible as people make it out to be. Only thing I notice is that it starts to lose it above about 50-55. What I am saying is it could use a little better higher end performance. Maybe the 3.5 liter could fix this little issue. The low end performance however is very good. My fuel mileage is about 16-17 in town and 20-24 on the highway.
  9. I would buy a Chevrolet Uplander any day over the Chrysler products. Want to know why? Lets see, the transmission will last longer than 50,000 miles, the A/C has a better chance of making it past 50,000 miles, should I keep going?
  10. Around here it is doing so-so. The salesman I got the Equinox from told me that for them the new Impala and the Equinox and the Torrent are their best sellers by far. The Malibu and Cobalt sell quite a bit less.
  11. I had them at about 8 years old. The itch was the worst part of the whole ordeal.
  12. I have heard too that regular butter is actually BETTER for you than the margerine or other fake butters. I am also leery of some of the diabetic sugar substitutes because of the chemicals in them.
  13. I used to like to drink quite a lot at a time. Like a whole bottle of something at one sitting but I dont do that too much anymore. I dont like the feeling after you start coming down from the high. plus the nausua. I have liquer from my grandmas house when we sold it and I havent even opened it.
  14. I will take a GM product any day over a Chrysler problem,I mean product. At least the Uplander shouldnt fall apart at 40-50,000 miles like the Chrysler products will.
  15. I will stick with cable if this is what satallite does. Roadrunner works well.
  16. Saw both the Maxx SS and the regular SS at the Chicago Auto show. They look pretty good to me.
  17. I liked what Chevrolet had to display. I liked the fact they also had the base models and the top models to show the differences.
  18. There is nothing wrong with FWD for normal everyday driving. If driven sanely they are easier to deal with in snow. I know, I have driven RWD.FWD, and now AWD in snow. And have good expeiriences in all formats. I sat in a few Cobalts and was quite impressed by what I saw. And felt.
  19. A really good cheeseburger is also a winner for me. Culvers is great. Cinderz is about the best you can get here. Or my own with a pack of onion soup with good hamburger from the local meat market.
  20. Same thing mine is doing. I was told by Time Warner to get a new one from their store so I shall do that tommorrow. They did run a new heavier line to it and put in an amplifier for all the cable. The guy said those are becoming outdate for whats coming up in the future.
  21. I think the cable modem here is starting to go. It couldnt connect for a long while. This has happened more frequently as of late. Called cable but of course they arent open at 12:30 in the morning. It is currently working now but for how long? Its a 3Com. Looks like a shark fin. Its 5 years old. Problem is we have Vonage so when it doesnt work neither does the phone.
  22. Has it been 12 years since I got mine? And I started with a 1981 Caprice 2-door. Doors were rusted out but the rest of it was pretty good.
  23. It doesnt matter if its brand new like the Equinox or old like the Bonneville was when I got it from Grandma it was exciting either way. Same way with all my cars. When I got my 1979 Impala I couldnt hardly contain myself. Especially since it had such low mileage when I got it.
