  1. I am with Flybrian on this. While I love my Bonneville it has a lot of flaws that arent present in modern cars. Fuel injection is one of the best things to ever come. Much better control of assembly and rust resistance. Plus more comfortable seats.
  2. I cant seem to find a parking brake release cable for the Bonneville to save my soul. I pulled it to release the parking brake and ended up with it in my hand.
  3. I am only on my 5th car and I still have the 3rd one.
  4. They usually rent space at one of the local bars and have all you can drink beer and food. Pretty cool for the most part.
  5. Fuel injectors are a known issue with this engine. Might want to see if those are working properly.
  6. The cool thing about this is you could choose if you want it to be RWD/FWD or even AWD. Then nobody could complain about powertrain configuration. Problem is that it wouldnt have a "real" engine and some people would throw a fit about this.
  7. I remember when I took my 19" computer monitor home in the 2000 Monte Carlo. I couldnt get it in the trunk so I had to put it in the passenger part. Had no right side vision at all. With the Equinox getting my 24" TV home wasnt a problem at all. My Bonneville has a big opening so I could at least fit those things in it but the lid doesnt close so you have to use bungee straps to hold it down. So that isnt a perfect solution either.
  8. I would bet the parts cost is up there too. But if you love the BMW it may still be worth it. What year is it?
  9. I couldnt over totally give up cars. Like I have said, I like both the old and the new stuff. I like my 1981 Bonneville but I like my 2005 Equinox for the daily grind or for severe weather driving(Winter). And like the 2000 Monte Carlo or the 2005 Equinox, I dont want to keep these newer cars longer than 4-5 years. So leasing the Equinox makes perfect sense.
  10. Mine was working for the cleaning company that cleaned the Target store at the Fox River Mall. My brother-in-lew was my boss. It was actually a nice job in the summertime but watch out in the winter. Especially the day after Thanksgiving. Did that for 6.5 years than went to the company I am at now which makes circuit boards. That was 7 years and 2 months ago. Notic I dont change jobs much? I also cut older peoples lawns and did their snow before and during working at the cleaning job. I quit those when I started at my current job. 55 hour workweeks and doing that was a bit much.
  11. I was wondering when something like that would happen. I should have known it would.
  12. I started by waxing the Bonneville and getting it ready to mostly sit for the winter. Put a bottle of Sta-bil and a bottle of Iso-heet in it and drove it for about a half hour to get these fluids through then parked it. Then I waxed the Equinox and then went out to eat with me Mom and Dad, aunt, sister and the 4 nieces. Then sat at the computer the rest of the day and night.
  13. When I was a kid Be an auto mechanic. Get through high school so I wouldnt have to go and be harrassed all the time. Now. Get through to see tommorrow.
  14. Not too sure how I feel about RWD coming back on the Impala. Most people here including me want FWD or AWD for the winter. I havent met someone that wants RWD. Some deal with it because it is all they can afford. Some might view RWD as a step backwards.
  15. Ehh RWD is overrated anyway.
  16. Jee Knightfan. I should check in the morning when I take the truck to the dealer for its oil change. They had 3 GTOs and I think they were all automatics. And one was red. One was black with grey racing stripes(Drove that one once). Trying to remember what the 3rd one was but I cant at the moment. I wouldnt want a manual one either. Trust me, the automatic is not detremental to having fun with this car. They are brand new but they have been sitting a while. Maybe a good deal could be had if they want to remove them from their lot bad enough.
  17. I think there are some people that would buy a 4-door turbo Cobalt. Mitsubishi sells these cars all the time. The EVO.
  18. Just remember what I wrolte a few lines ago.
  19. I will be kind of sad when they quit making it. People complain about the latest FWD ones but I liked my 2000 when I had it. Roomy, comfortable and well appointed. It dealt with winter very well also.
  20. I have these brochures for all of the cars I have owned too. Pretty cool.
  21. Kaukauna Wisconsin all my life. I have even lived in the same house since 1978 though that wont be for much longer because the city wants to tear it down for a road widening of highway 55.
  22. Somebody should do that to one of those rice-grinders. Then we will see if these same people think it is so funny. I sure as hell would.
  23. \ ] Ahh. Another fellow diabetic. Isnt it fun having to watch every little thing you consume for fear of raising your sugar level out of whack. Though I dont mind nicely filtered cold water. Getting rid of a 6 pack a day of reguler Pepsi or Mountain Dew helped it out a big amount.
  24. I dont care what direction this whole thing goes. What people do in their private lives is their own buisness. I am a straight male but I have no issue with gays as long as it is understood that I am not gay. Everyone has the right to live their lives they way they want as long as it doesnt hurt anybody else.
