Catching ad errors: '75 MC labeled as '76 MC
2005 EquinoxLS replied to knightfan26917's topic in The Lounge
Doesnt the '76 have the rectangular headlights while the '75 still has the round ones? -
Why are you still an auto enthusiast?

My thing with B-bodies comes from growing up with them. Tht was all my Dad and Grandparents on both side would ever buy. When we went an picked up the '78 in 1985 it was the next best thing to well......... nothing. EVen though it had 75,000 miles on it. That started it. My Grandparents bought the 1981 Bonneville that I have now and that helped it. -
I got the chance to drive both the Vibe and the HHR. The HHR is in my opinion a much better vehicle. Much quieter and its no contest which engine is more powerful though I drove the HHR with the 2.4 liter.

Owned my Gen 6 from July 2001 to March 2005. Rode in a 1978 but it was near the end of its life when I did. I would like to drive a 1978-80 someday. Maybe even own one. Rode in a 1973 also but that was in even worse shape than the 1978.

Strong pickup sales suggest a GM revival
2005 EquinoxLS replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in General Motors
I am starting to see a lot of the new GM trucks around here. The new Tahoe seems to be a really strong seller. The Suburban too. -
My sister has a 1998 with about 70,000 miles. It needed a steering rack when she first bought it with 39,000 miles but other than that it has been great. I would recomend a Venture over a Grand Caravan any day. At least the Venture doesnt strand you 3 times in 2 weeks the way the Grand Caravan did for my sister.

I am kind of sad to see it go. I liked my 2000 in the time I had it. It worked well in all the things I wanted it to do except of course for the typical 2-door downfalls. It wont be around to be a choice in 2009 when my lease comes up and that kind of sucks. People can blast it all they want but it was comfortable quiet and easy to deal with.

Give GM credit for taking care of a problem before it becomes a lawsuit or somebody gets hurt because the airbag didnt deploy.

I would try replacing the thermostat first. Then see what happens. My parents Equinox did this and it was the thermostat. Dad had noticed it didnt seem to heat as well as normal.

You did fine Cort. I have had the same thing happen to me quite a few times. Better a little screeching halt than to hit somebody else.

I have been sick the last few days too. I didnt check to see if I had a fever. I dont think I did but when you cant stop coughing for 5 minutes that tends to get to you. I didnt work on Friday because I was sick to the point where doing every little thing made me exhausted. I also ached all over and hurt from coughing so much. Now I have a little bit of the cough and runny nose. At least I can do things now and now get exhausted. Good thing since we had about 10 inches of snow and I needed to remove it.

Well you know theres people that think they need a V8 RWD even with gas at the price it has been. I had one W-Body. The 2000 Mone Carlo and I really liked it. It never got less than 22 miles to the gallon in the city and always got more than 31 miles to the gallon on the highway. Roomy and quiet and a very nice riding highway car. I think the new G8 may have more of a chance than the GTO did simply since it is a 4-door rather than a 2-door. That alone will make it more likable for a lot people. I just wonder if everyone will want a V8 RWD? Time will tell.

What is your next car purchase? revisited...
2005 EquinoxLS replied to intrigued's topic in The Lounge
I am deciding between another Equinox or a HHR. -
Funny, I see more rusted out Toyotas than rusted out GMs. The powertrain of a Toyota may go a very long time but the bodies (at least on the older ones) never lasted really long before they were rusted to obliviation.

My answer when people tell me they need something. " I have a lot of needs too but not all of my needs are being met. However I have come to accept that fact and when everyone else does too the world will be a better place".
-
Dont worry. I do that too sometimes. Or when I am going through the channels on TV and hit on something interesting.

You most definatly are NOT a loser. You do a lot of wonderful things with your life. If thats the definition of a loser then I am 2/3 of a loser. And I will admit if I didnt live with my parents I could not have a new vehicle for myself. Its one of the few luxury items I allow myself. I dont have a relationship because I just cant seem to find someone that doesnt think I am weird in some ways mentally. I dont own the house I live in but the parents treat me like 1/3 the owner. And right now I am helping them deal with the city buying the property to make the street wider. I will do what it takes to help them get what they want. I do envy your Monte Carlo collection Cort. And thats the truth. Like I have maybe said I would like someday to get a 1978-80 Monte Carlo if I could to go along with the Bonneville. Maybe someday. People tell me all the time that I dont know what the real world is like because I dont have any bills. Uhhh I do have bills and expenses plus U do help with the house expenses. I have told said individuals to "Bite Me". Hey sometimes you have to get a little tough in life or people will take advantage of you.

Captainbooyah, that is the same kind of setup I us for my computer sound instead of wimpy computer screen. My only problem is with an electrical humming noise. Have you ever hd this problem?Other than the noise my Pioneer reciever handles it just fine. And remember like Captainbooyah said if you do this make sure you turn the computer volume up all the way.

We got our first real snowfall this winter and that was only about 4 inches. Not a lot of snow or cold in Northeast Wisconsin this winter.

Oh jeez where to start with this one? Papa Murphys Dilight pizzas, Little luigis italian dishes( A local Italian place that makes pizzas and Italian food to die for) Culvers double cheeseburgers,Johnsonville summer sausage origional recipe,Most meat from the local meat market, Doritos,Pringles with some Frito-Lay nacho cheese. Dove chocolate. I used to love regular Pepsi and Mountain Dew but I have had to cut that out due to being a diabetic. And the diet stuff in some cases just isnt the same. So now I have grown to like cold filtered water.

I wouldnt worry about it. Fill the fuel tank and make sure you have fresh oil and a full service and you should be fine. I leave the Bonneville sit for a lot longer than that and other than starting it every 2-3 weeks or so it survives it just fine.
-
As far as I know the Equinox never had a voltmeter or an oil pressure guage. Neither mine or my parents has either of these guages and mine is an LS and theirs an LT.

I am a liker of blue myself. I have 2 sets of blue LED lights up right now. I have the daylight color fluoresents in all of my lamps and fixtures in my room. Also the other thought with this is its my way to save electricity.
