The New-Style Obstacle course, formed by...
2005 EquinoxLS replied to knightfan26917's topic in The Lounge
Around here if it isnt the potholes its the foot or 2 deep of water in the lower parts of the road. The roads are finally a little clear now though there is still the pothole issue to deal with. Havent see anybody trying to fix them either. -

That could work too. I forgot the interior of the 1976 is black. Could try that with the 1981 Bonneville. :AH-HA_wink: Nahhhhhhh. Dont know how that would be with the vinyl top on it. -

Gee Cort. You could paint the 1981 that color. Would match the interior better than the others. -
The couple time I was through Chicago it wasnt too bad. Though I time it so I am not going through it during the rush hour. Indianapolis Indiana isnt too bad. Neither is Louisville Kentucky. Nashville Tennessee can be a little bit if you catch it wrong but not too bad. Of course coming from Appleton Wisconsin big city traffic is more to deal with than we are used to.

We are having a terrible time with them in Northeast Wisconsin. Told Mom to try to avoid them at all cost with the Aveo. I avoid them at all cost in the truck. No worries with the 2 old ones.I think this is the 1st winter in a long time where I could get them out once in the while. I will not subject them to this crap. -

I am with oncblu. If I want used cars I already have 2 of them And I know what they need. I would like to stick with new. Leasing works out well for me provided I get the terms I got on the Equinox. Next time though I may get an Impala. I would rather lease a new one than buy a used one that somebody either didnt care about or a rental at the hands of everybody. I guess I am lucky that I am with the majority around here where FWD doesnt bother them. -
Just a little piece of advice for eveybody. Life is too short to waste on something that isnt going to work. Tried that a few times. Wasnt worth it. The woman who liked vodka too much was a real treat. Or the one that thought I was her own taxi just so she could see her boyfriend. Doesnt mean I have given up on a good relationship but it isnt as easy as the guy on Eharmony.com makes it out to be.
-
Not 100% of the X-bodies were junk. Nor do all of us see FWD as a bad thing. The 2 1980's cars I own are good but things have come a long way since they were made. Reliable A/C is a huge improvment over these cars. Same with fuel economy and winter driving. Now I love my old cars to death and love driving them. But I can see where they arent so perfect.

The Caprice cranks slowly when it is very cold but if the battery is good it will start. Havent had the 2 old ones out in almost 2 months. Dont want them getting rusted. Thats why I dont want an old car for winter. If its too good I wouldnt want it getting rusted and if it isnt in good shape then I would worry about it. Plus I do like the new cars too.

2007 Chevrolet Impala LS
2005 EquinoxLS replied to vonVeezelsnider's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
I will keep that in mind. At least where I buy my cars you dont see very many 3.9's anyway. Nearly all are 3.5's except for 1 or 2. -
Thats another one I will add to my list. Of course according to the Ford people it was better than the Blazer. Why did the Blazer seem so much better? I have ridden in both and I stand by that statement. The Blazer rode much better and more quietly. The body was much more modern and so was the interior.

The 1981-1990 Ford Escort. What a piece of trash. At least the ones I rode in and drove. The Cavalier was a luxury car in comparison. I didnt find the Tempo to be so bad other than the fact that I couldnt get in one without banging some part of my body. The Renault Alliance also fits there. A neighbor was blessed with one of these in about 1988. It never wanted to start when it was cold. The 1965 Chevrolet Impala she got rid of for this piece of garbage never failed to start in the cold. I was not much of a fan of the ohhh so popular Dodge Aries-Plymouth Reliant. They just seemed like bigger Escorts if you ask me.

2007 Chevrolet Impala LS
2005 EquinoxLS replied to vonVeezelsnider's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
I might look at one of these in a year when the lease is up on the Equinox. May be looking for more fuel economy but yet I still want space. I liked my 2000 Monte Carlo for this reason. I might either lease one or find one maybe 2-3 years old. I dont think I can purchase one brand new. Can anyone tell me if the 3.9 liter V6 is worth it over the 3.5? I want so hard to like the new Malibu but keep coming back to the Impala. -
You got lucky Knightfan. Plus great maintenence on the origional owners part and yours helped it along more than anything. Along with Chevrolet using tried and true technology on your Montes and my 2 Full sizers.

Sounds like a lot of people are interested. If the body is as good as it looks the rest can be replaced or rebuilt byt the right person. I read the post where you have the distributer coming for the Mazda. All I can suggest to get that going after the new distributer is installed is put a charger on the battery until it is fully charged. Better hope the gas is good. Shouldnt be a problem though if it is like the 1984 Buick Park Avenue that I got running after sitting for 2 years. Good luck with the Mazda. -
The Equinox has been perfect. So has Moms Aveo. And we have had a harder winter than the last few. So not all new cars have more problems than old ones Havent though had trouble out of the old ones either. Though I dont drive them through the salt and slush unless its an emergency. Figure this out though Knightfan. My Bonneville works pretty well in the snow the one time I had to drive it when my sister had the truck in December. The Caprice the one time I tried it slid all over the place. Same kind of car. Both have new tires. Figure that one out.

Much as I like the old cars, I like not fighting with body rot and the other less than nice points about old cars. Wouldnt want to go back to having only old cars for daily drivers. Though mine are pretty good I still like the Equinox for winter. -
looking for a project car, need some info.

I know somebody on here who has a 1984 he might be begging to get rid of. :AH-HA_wink: -
That will be funny. Lets just hope the truck doesnt break in half and hurt somebody.

Too bad you got a bad one. The body though looks to be in good shape. Reliability is different things to different people. Parts are cheap for it. Thats one good thing. The Olds 307 engine is tough as nails. At least in my travels with my Bonneville. I agree both mine have all that wiring and hoses. Especially the Bonneville. Decontented. You have to remember when ours were made. Mine too dont have a real lot of options. But it is expected in these and I live with it. My biggest problem is keeping the A/C working on both since I dont like heat. Yeah the little things break sometimes but mine are reliable as can be. Never in our ownership(My Dad had the Caprice before he died in June 2007) has either car left somebody on the side of the road. Neither one has overheated or anything. Did get the transmissions rebuilt on both but anyone who has one of these should know that the overdrive transmissions on these tend to be flimsy. But the rebuilds werent too expensive and I doubt I will ever have to do it again. Just get rid of it if you hate it so much. Some of us like the styling of these cars. It sets them apart from todays vehicles. -
Thats true. Welcome to C and G. The loves of my life are my 2 B-bodies. Plus the leased Equinox.
