It likely wouldnt matter. Unless she starts bashing the 2 B-bodies. Then all bets are off.

Maybe too political though a lot of other threads are too.

I always liked the 1977-79 too in its own way though I liked the Impala just slightly more than the Caprice though I would take either one. I think its because at one time or another our family each owned one. My Grandpa owned a 1977, my Mom and Dad had a 1978 and I had a 1979 all Impalas.

They look cooler but the smller opening limits the usefulness. Being as nearly all cars are designed this way today it alsmost forces you to get an SUV or a truck just to haul a box. Where a box fits in my 2 old ones. Yes you have to hook the trunklid when you do that but at least you can do it on those old B-bodies.

Cool beans. My Mom and Dad had 2 -bodies. The 1992 Olds Cutlass was kind of a lemon. 2.5 liter 4 cylinder that sucked oil and front brkes that only lasted about 30,000 miles. The 1996 Buick Centry was better. That one had the 3.1 liter V6.

This world is centered around couples. It has always been that way and it always will be. No mention is ever made about helping a single person. Its all about the kids or "I cant do something because I have to talk to my wife about it". Seems I get hardly any tax exemptions too because I am single. Got to get married and have kids to get those. So just because I dont want to have kids I have to pay? Do I have the wrong attitude here? Tell me if I do. If it were me I would likely take the FWD coupe depending what it is. Thats the operative thing. What are the 2 choices. If its a choice between a Cavalier coupe and say a 1989 Caprice classis, I would take the Caprice Classic and just deal the the RWD. Most of us work because we havent won the lottery or werent born into a rich family. Just a fact of life. It will always be that way. I dont mind my job too much. I get 3 weeks of Vacation nd starting NEXT October 4th it will be 4 weeks. Plus a week of paid time that if we dont want to take the days off we get paid for it at the end of the years. Pretty nice. When is the last time I took an actual vacation? I think fall of 2003 when My Mom and Dad and Oldest niece and I went to Tennessee. Otherwise I took days off here and there. Last year I took a lot of time off but that wasnt fun time. That was dealing with Dads death and the new house and dealing with nieghbors wanting stuff off the old one before it got torn down. It was nice to get a new house but the rest of it sucked. Though I dont miss cutting the big hill at the old place. Much nicer to ride a riding mower even though our new lot is pretty big. I am not religious but we have to thank the greater powers for the blessings we have. It is building up here too Cort. Not probably like down by you but it is none the less. Still quite a bit of empty space to drive the 2 old ones. Though I take them to work pretty regularily. This is my side of this story. My intention is not to offend anybody, just to lay out a few hard facts from a fellow single person and what we deal with in this society. Have yourselves a good night. Time to shower and sleep so I can do it all over again tommorrow. Mark.

Palin running the country. Heh Heh. Yeah right. I could do better and I know nothing about running a country. McCain ruined it by starting in right away on the negetive campaigning. Obama didnt really start that until just lately and even then he keeps it to a minimum. McCain cant seem to state facts he just talks crap about things Obama did 40 years ago. McCain talks about being a war hero. Sure, but that doesnt mean you can run a country. Ulysses S. Grant proved that theory in the late 1860's.

In the new RWD platform I would use the Atlas motor as a base engine. I was kind of hoping they would do that with the Camaro. Dont know about changing the Impala to RWD. The FWD one is selling so well. Do we really want to mess up a formula that makes money? I say add a RWD Caprice model with the atlas base engine and go up from there.

It gets people into the dealer. Even if they say dont end up buying a Flex but another Ford product it still got the person in the door. I would imagine Ford too will take a customer any way they can get one.

GM Extends Idling Of Wilmington Assembly

If people dont have jobs they cant afford to have play cars. They have to make sure that they have a good daily driver. Solstice doesnt really fit that bill. -

I never though of my B-bodies as being Filet Mignon and Lobster. This gives a whole new perspective. -

Sedans arent so bad Cort. I have two and an SUV and I am single. And maybe you could get used to FWD. I did. Took a little bit but I did. -

Movin on up in the world huh Sylvester? How much life does this thing have left in it? Whats this I hear Mercedes is going to switch to FWD soon? J/k -
People think the 2 of mine have big blocks. And that they dont have computers. The funniest was when a friend said that a 1977-90 Caprice/Impala is a poorly engineered car and that a 1981-90 Ford Escort is better. Well friend guess what you see more of now? Or try getting it through to some people that the Pontiac has an Oldsmobile engine. I guess the confusion is understandable since the 307 was only used in the Bonneville in 1981. The 1977-80 used the Pontiac 301. I am told I got the better end of tht deal anyway.

Love my B-bodies too. Reliability hasnt been perfect but far better than a lot of my co-workers older cars. Both have rebuilt transmissions. That I was told is a downfall of the first few years of the 4-speed overdrives. If I cant get a new vehicle to replace the Equinox next year an older B-bodu isnt out of the question. But it has to start in -20 nights. And deal with our sometimes severe winters. Lets see, I have the Pontiac and Chevrolet versions, maybe I should get the Oldsmobile since I did have a chance to play with a 1984 Buick Park Avenue a few years ago. Though that I think is techniclly a C-body. -

I am with you on this. I have both new and old. Like them both. I wont subject an old one to winter here if I can help it either. -
Its about time people see the Republican party for what it really is. Caring only for the rich and big oil.

Colin always seemed to me like a real person. Not just a polititian like most others. That is truly a breakthrough for him to switch partys like that. McCain must have really screwed up. McCain is getting too desperate for his own good.

GM to absorb Chrysler - as Chrysler absorbed AMC?
2005 EquinoxLS replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in General Motors
To me if this does happen it will be a long time coming. How many times can you almost die and be brought back to life? They have had nine lives and they are on life number 9. I am sure the Chrysler minivans are very nice. Maybe GM can make them so they last longer than 60,000 miles before they self destruct like so many of the newer ones seem to do. Trying to wonder what else is useful from Chrysler? If I think of something I will get back to you all. -

And GM may actually get the Chrysler minivans so they can actually reach 60,000 miles without self-destructing like my sisters did. -
My question is what does Chrysler have that GM would want? Most of what GM has is better anyway. If this does happen it will likely piss a lot of Chrysler loyalists off.

What would GM want with Chryslers stuff? Most of what GM has is better than Chryslers anyway.
