  1. I am actually in the process right now. My Equinox lease comes up in March and GM must be really hard up for money. I was going to maybe get an Impala in the future. I took the Equinox in for an oil change and started talking to my salesguy and he meantoned that GM is doing early lease takebacks. Lets just say that I got the deal of a lifetime on a leftover 2008 Impala. So I will likely have an Impala VERY soon.
  2. Sounds cool though they did modify it a bit. Wonder what shape the 4.3 liter V6 engine is in? 30 MPG highway? Might be true but I would have to see it to believe it though I suppose the Bonneville gets about 24-25 and the Caprice I have about 22-23 with the 305 V8. Looks pretty nice though.
  3. 1. A Christmas Story. 2. The night they saved Christmas. 3. Christmas comes to Willow Creek. 4. Christmas Vacation.
  4. I dont know how many miles I put on the 3 this year. I guess I will break the news. I was able to get a deal too good to pass up on a left over 2008 Impala so pretty soon the 2005 Equinox may be history. It pays sometimes to take advantage of a bad economy.
  5. My 307 in the Bonneville is the same way. Not a lot of power but it is reliable as the day is 24 hours long and it doesnt use a drop of oil. The 305 in the Caprice is margnially better.
  6. It would be YOUR project Cort. You can do whatever YOU want with it.
  7. My Dad did it for me. He only bought GM and mostly the Chevrolet Full-sized ones until about 15 years ago. When he and Mom bought a maroon 1978 Impala I loved it. When I started learning to drive in it it was getting pretty old but I knew right then that I had to have a car like that. The 1985 Caprice they bought a few years later that I also learned to drive on (That I now have) helped even more to make me want one. I now have had 4 of them and still have 2 of the 4.
  8. I am sure somewhere somebody has done that very thing.
  9. Like I said, I could officiate the return of the B-body. Cort can do the MonteCarlo. And any brothers and sisters he deems fit in the MonteCarlo having.
  10. They are able to make new cars perfect enough to where I guess I do agree there could be ten of the same cars and they would drive the same. People ask me why I have 2 b-bodies that since they are basiclly the same that they drive the same. I tell them "You drive them and tell me if they are the same". They sure are not. Each one of the 2 drive, ride and are just quite different than another. That would be like telling Cort that the '79,81,and 87 should drive the same because they are on the same frame and are basiclly the same. I am sure he will tell you otherwise.
  11. Might have to chack a few sources and see if thats a good price or not. I really dont know since the one I drove and Gustman had were brand new at the time. Seems to me they were pretty expensive new. $27,000 or so comes to mind. Like I said, it is a VERY nice car. They ride well too. That was my biggest pleasent surprise. I could stand to be in it for a long road trip. Only thing thats different and not good or bad but just different is that you can tell it isnt a normal GM car. Blaupunkt stereo and most of the controls arent the GM norm. Do drive it though if you get the chance.
  12. I hear that number 18 is on the way. Doesnt Mrs. Dugger get tired of this?
  13. There I did my part. Though there should be some conditions the automakers must meet. Now is not the time for the union to be pushing their rules and regulations. Step aside UAW and let the 3 automakers and the governmant do what they need to to fix this. If you arent part of the solution you are part of the problem.
  14. Can we bring back the 1977-90 B-body preferably the way it looked after the 1980 restyle but with todays engine technology and even dare I say the choice of AWD? I wonder if the 2-door versions could be marketed to sell well? The wagon COULD be a fuel effcient alternative to a SUV.Also though I thought the ones I had were fairly good about rust resistance, bring that up to todays standards. I think with todays powertrain technology they could be done so they arent gas guzzlers. Heck, there would be a use for the 4.2 liter I6 Atlas engine. Use that as a base engine. I know people around here hate the idea but we DO also have to have a few FWD vehicles for those that want them. Have a Camaro and a small truck and a full-sized truck . But again make the small truck so that it is actually worth getting it based on fuel economy. The 18/24 the Colorado gets now isnt too much better than the V6 Silverado.
  15. I think our heat bill last winter was around maybe $500 maybe $550. Our new house is pretty efficient being built and designed for Wisconsin winter. I thi nk we saved about $100 over the old house which was built in 1901 but was fully insulated. Doesnt homeowners insurance frown on wood stoves?
  16. I know that feeling all to well. I still once in the while expect to see my dad every now and then. Though Mom and I live in our new house that he never got to see I still expect him to walk in every now and then and start talking about what he plans to do later on or the next day. My dad was the planner type of person. I am kind of like that but not to the extreme my dad was. I didnt always get to grieve either because when he died I had to make sure the new house was coming along and deal with the city people and relocation people with the old one. And the movers. I can tell you one thing, you NEVER forget.
  17. Where I work is one of the few places that is doing well. I am actually on overtime and it will be busy at least until the end of the year. I guess electronic circuit boards do have their place in society. I dont take it for granted though. It was VERY bad back in 2001-2003 but we had different owners then. The current ones are VERY good at finding work for us.
  18. Nothing wrong with an automatic. Thats what I would have too. The one I drove was an auto. I dont think Gustman has ever had a manual one. They were all automatics.
  19. I dont know that the new domestics are built that same way like they once were. The reason my 2 have lasted so long is that they werent subjected to very much road salt like Wisconsin likes to use in the winter. I for one wouldnt look forward to keeping my daily driver forever. Though one never knows what may come in the future. Though the new cars do have far better bodies on them than the old ones ever did. Thats 1 VERY good reason I use my new vehicle in the winter.
  20. I liked the GTO my Dad and I test drove a few years ago. The leather seats didnt even bother me and I usually hate leather with a passion. It doesnt have a huge trunk since they had to redesign it to fit the fuel tank for the U.S. I thought it was a VERY grown up Firebird. My dad had said if he was rich he would have thought about one. I wonder, do they have cars in heaven? Maybe he is driving one right now for all we know.
  21. I have all the cars I need but I will try this little exersise anyway. Moms Aveo is good as far as I am concerned for town driving which is 90% of my driving. I would just get a 2 year old one.
  22. Reagans policies put my dad out of a job. Bush JR is the worst president we have ever had. BY FAR!!!. Doesnt have half the sense his daddy gave him. Say what we will about Clinton but at least we had an economy when he was in office. Things were going pretty good until Bush Jr came along and ruined it. Along with the then Republican congress.
  23. Could try that Cort.
