I second that, except I want mine to get 30mpg. With DOD and six-speed or CVT, I don't think that's too far fetched. 80s B-Bodys could achieve mid 20s

I can't remember the last article of clothing I've bought. I wear things until they fall apart, and over 99% of my wardrobe consists of gifts or were bought with gift cards (I've never been a trendy or fashion concious person, so even if I had alot of cash to spend, still wouldn't spend it here). I don't buy DVDs, and all of my CD's are burned copies of other peoples or downloaded (shhh... don't tell the lawyers). Don't have a cell phone (don't have anything that important to talk about) or cable TV (never home to watch it). I do occasionally splurge on a dinner out with my g/f, or for my collections (Johnny Lightnings and license plates mostly) and will be putting out some money to travel out of the country this year. I've always been tight with my money, work two jobs and make alot less than... say, Josh did last year (since he disclosed his earnings) so I have to watch where it goes and make sure I'm not "wasting" it on interest. The upside is that I'm 26 and own my own home (it's not mortgaged), paid for both of my cars with cash, and carry no credit card balances.

I'm with you, I like EVERYTHING on the steering column. Of course, most of you guys already know I like the tranny shifter up there, but I also like the flashers on the column. I can't stand the big button on the dash in my Impala, and it lights up red at night. Red tells me something is wrong, and it grabs my attention at times when it shouldn't. The Impala also has the cruise on the steering wheel, and it lights up which is annoying. When I'm trying to back down my driveway at night and I'm using the mirrors to make sure I'm not too close to the house all I see is the reflection of the cruise lights moving on the side window as I'm moving the wheel. I also prefer the ignition on the column, easier to turn when reaching in from the passenger side (to let car warm up whil I'm scraping the ice/snow off the windows). I couldn't stand the wiper location in my g/f's old Beretta. It was on the dash to the right of guages. I almost crashed once trying to find the wipers frantically. The only bad thing is when it goes bad, it's bad. I thought I was going to fail my driver's test in my dad's '91 Jimmy because after the right turn signal snapped off, the wipers took a single pass.

yea, what he said :CG_all:

Do you still have the '99 50th Anniv Eighty-Eight? What is the color/current miles? If you do and are EVER interested in selling it, drop me a line, I'll be here.

I've only owned two cars so far, both GM '96 Cutlass Supreme SL coupe, Series II, the only thing rare about it was that it has the split bench front seat along with only 3844 (or approx 13%) of the other '96 coupes. Only 310 were in the same color combination as mine (Dark Teal metallic/med. beige cloth) and my new ride: '03 Impala base 1SB, with the uncommon (nothing rare about Impalas) blue deluxe cloth interior looking nice inside the Superior Blue exterior paint.

LOL, is that the one where the car has a glass floor so you can see who you ran over?

Pennsylvania has logbooks now, but it's the parents that keep the logs so they can still be fudged. I think all new drivers should be tought by a professional instructor. That way the bad habits of the parent won't be picked up by the new driver, and they'll learn the right way to do it.

Great article. I always use my turn signals when turning and changing lanes. I think it's one of the most important things a driver can do. Why would you not want other drivers to know what you're planning on doing? I don't know if it's laziness, ignorance or something else, but it seems like I'm vast becoming a minority. Sometimes I see halfhearted attempts like after someone has half changed lanes they give a blink or two, or after they have come to a complete stop or slown down severely and are on top of the turn. As far as headlights, I have noticed more people driving with foglights only at night. Why? It doesn't look cool, and can't be safe The parking lights in my Cutlass gave me more light than the fogs did. Also, I have noticed that at least 9 out of 10 drivers (that I can see) who leave thier brights on are elderly. Reaction time that slow, that oblivious, or really can't see? I've also noticed alot of drivers making left turns on red lately and passing on the left to make a right on red in front of someone who is stopped to go straight or left.

I have all kinds of stuff that I collect. I actually got more into it after GM announced the end of Oldsmobile and I lost some interest in new cars. Still bieng a car guy and an Olds guy til death, found a different way to channel my passion. Brochures (all makes models, but mostly domestic/GM) dealer only items (all Oldsmobile stuff: ordering guides, price/spec handbooks, posters and a huge flag) license plates (my newest interest. BTW: Sixty8Panther, I'm still interested in trading w/ you. I'm back online after losing everything to a computer virus, just been busy with the holidays and getting ready to move) diecast (mostly Johnny Lightnings) Most of my stuff is boxed up right now, but after I move and get set up sometime next month, I'll post some pics of my collections.

Should Pontiac make a 4-cylinder G6 Coupe?
AM6_Cutlass replied to ToniCipriani's topic in Heritage Marques
There should definately be a G6 coupe with a 4-cyl. Face it, the G6 coupe is not selling. I have not seen one on the road yet, they need to do all they can to increase its appeal (including replacing the 2+2 configuration with a real back seat) In fact, the Grand AM coupe did not seem to sell that well after they got rid of the SE trim either. You can get an Accord coupe with a four, so why not a Pontiac? -
Wow, I'd LOVE to have that Oldsmobile sign. It would look great hanging above the couch in my game room, but I could never justify spending that much on it. If there are any volunteers, I can send you my shipping address;) . . . . ...Nobody? Ok, guess I'll have to be happy with my little round Oldsmobile Service sign for now. Had one heck of a time finding one. Every other division/brand, but the few Oldsmobile ones I found were porcelin. Finally managed to track down a tin one while on vacation a few years ago.

Glad to see you are still with us. I was wondering how the surgery went. Have fun at the show!

Dropping the Custom Cruiser probably didn't do much to the core customer base, but dropping the Ciera definately did. The Ciera had a good record of reliability, was cheap, and had a bench seat interior. An equivilant car was missing from the Olds lineup after its demise, and I always wished there would have been a Cutlass version of the Intrigue instead of the Malibu based one. Give an Intrigue a bench seat, 15" steel wheels with hubcaps, 3100 V6 and spend what they spent on the Malicutlass styling touches to differentiate from the Intrigue much like the Century was to the Regal over at Buick. The Regal got the spotlight, but it was the Century quietly racking up the sales in the shadows.

Beautiful car. It always bothered me that this car was killed of in '92 instead of surviving through until '96. It actually sold about the same as the Roadmaster Estate, but John Rock didn't think it fit into his vision of Olds.

I'm glad history didn't take that direction, but I don't think it would have been a total disaster (disaster to the Camaro name only). The Beretta sold great in its first couple years, so I don't see why a Beretta badged as Camaro would not have sold just as well. Camaro traditionalists would have hated it, but someone would have liked it. It's just a name, and considering that Beretta and Camaro are both currently out of production, it wouldn't have been the WORST thing GM ever did. Actually, my g/f would still be driving her '90 Beretta GT (3.1/3-speed auto) if she didn't total it this past April. Ran great, and still had a great body (before the accident  ). Interior was fair with some dash peel (much less than my grandfather's '93 Lumina had three years ago), but no issues with reliability and ran better than my 3100 Cutlass.

as far as I know, these are Toys R Us exclusive. I bought the set just for the '84 Hurst/Olds

That basically sums it up. Also, interesting and little known fact... Oldsmobile began offering a sport package on the base Cutlass Supreme in 1990 and again in 1991, basically International Series ground effects and foglamps (and duals on the sedans), option code BYP. The 92+ "SL" was actually equvilant to this car, as there were no true SL models. Even the VIN on my 96 decoded as "Cutlass Supreme S". I had a '96 coupe for almost seven years with the very rare (for the coupe) bench front seat, which was available only on the four-door for '97. '96 was also the last year for the red cloth interior (although mine was beige).

2007 Cadillac Escalade Standard Equip. + OPTIONS
AM6_Cutlass replied to CadillacCTS's topic in Cadillac
not to be a smart@$$, but the Dodge Caravan had one a few years ago, looked like a power window lever on the end of the shifter. Don't have any pics, but I remember seeing it at the auto show. -

AM6_Cutlass replied to CadillacCTS's topic in Cadillac
Right on! I don't understand why column shifters have become so looked down on recently. The current Escalade has one, and it's still percieved as a cool vehicle, and sells well. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Lincoln switched to a floor shifter in the Navigator and I don't exactly see it running away with sales. The Escalade is a BIG proudly American vehicle, and a column shifter fits in just fine with that. -
Sounds good, those are two I don't have. blue one is in very good cond. I'll have to check my box of yellow ones, pretty sure I can find a "clean" one.

Try Kohls. I don't know if they get the entire Hallmark line, but my g/f bought me the Toronado ornament for $2.50 last year about two weeks after Christmas.

I've just started to aquire a few plates to hang on the wall by the computer and in the garage. I have a whole box of PA ( and a few nearby states) plates I got from my grandma's house. Oldest one is from 1929, most from the 70s and 80s. I bought a few from ebay and traded with people I know in other states for a few others. I have PA Conserve Wild Resources (with the Owl), PA D.A.R.E., Maryland Treasure the Chesepeke, and Florida Challenger among others. If anybody is interested in an 80s style yellow background PA plate, or a 90s style blue background plate with seven characters I'd be interested in trade. Both plates are "Keystone State". Traded my only "You've got a Friend in Pennsylvania" plate for a New York plate.
