They had pretty cheap lease deals advertised in my area but since it is all employee leases, I can't say how that compares to the rest of the country. I wish I could see the sales chart. It isn't come up for me for some reason. I haven't had that problem in the other sales threads.
-
Fusion, Escape and Explorer up. Basically, the usual suspects. I'm really surprised the C-MAX doesn't sell better. While I have never driven one, it is the same powertrain as the Fusion/MKZ hybrid so it shouldn't be a drivetrain problem. I wonder if it is something with the vehicle itself or more related to the fuel economy controversy?
-
Wow. As others have stated, big numbers from Jeep! Who would have guessed 16K Cherokees a month when the first images leaked out. Durango and Journey sales up and Dart finally having a decent month.
-
I would have to believe the huge jump in Sentra sales is either huge incentives, huge fleet sales or both. I have driven many Altimas (not the most recent, though) and it isn't a bad car but it still amazes me they sell in the volumes they do.
-
I have used OnStar both times. They are the ones that told me it was code P0133.
-
For the record, there has been no noticeable signs of any problem other than the check engine light. The DTC is for a slow responding heated O2 sensor. Driveability wise, you would never know the light was on. The car acts 100% normal. I just don't like going through the hassle of taking the car to dealer, catching a shuttle to work and then back only to find out they didn't do anything because the DTC was stored in history and not a current fault. The light is already back out again. I already set up my appointment but I'm tempted to just cancel it. The only reason I haven't is because I will be going on vacation soon and I want to make sure the car is ready.
-
At the rate the car is going, we might wind up renting something for piece of mind. The engine light came on again. DTC is P0133, same as last time. I'll be calling the dealership in the morning to set up another appointment. They better do something other than tell me it is a stored fault and they can't do anything.

Fiat News: Sergio Marchionne Asks You To Pass On The Fiat 500e
2QuickZ's replied to William Maley's topic in Fiat
I don't get offended by your comments and I don't think you were being an ass! You are entitled to your opinions even if folks don't agree with them. Like I said, there are still a number of FCA products that deserve to be picked on. I just think you picked on the wrong one! I really do think you will like the latest generation(or at least have a much more positive impression) if you check one out. IMO pretty much every automaker makes at least one product that deserves a little bashing. -
Vehicle: Volkswagen Beetle TDi (2013)

Nice! I haven't gotten that kind of mileage out of my Cruze yet but I think it is going on a trip to Virginia in a couple of weeks so it will be interesting to see how it does. Just out of curiosity, what would you say the city/hwy split was on that tank? -
The next tank is in. I actually bought diesel for $3.84/gallon and regular right now is $3.95 so I'm happy. Anyway, thanks to my 100 mile or so round trip is was closer to a 60/40 split this tank but thanks to the dealer visit (I have no idea what they did but they managed to kill my mileage in only 15 miles of test driving) and extremely bad traffic, I wound up only averaging 31.6 MPH on this tank per the VIC. It went 467.2 miles on 12.12 gallons for an average of 38.55 MPG.
-
We'll see what happens. I actually did a 100 mile round trip last Saturday that was mostly interstate. My putzing around in town in the middle of the round trip brought my overall mileage for the trip down to 40.5 per the VIC (which is usually 1.2 - 1.5 MPG too low) but it did show a 50 mile average of 48.5 MPG on the drive out!

Fiat News: Sergio Marchionne Asks You To Pass On The Fiat 500e
2QuickZ's replied to William Maley's topic in Fiat
Well, I owned a 2007 Saturn Aura and a 2008 Saturn Vue when GM announced they were folding the brand and I have always been a big Pontiac fan so I wasn't thrilled when they were both killed. I guess I could also throw in that I have had three 2005+ Saab's, including a 2007 9-5 when they sold Saab. Apparently my interest in a GM brand helps kill it. lol Let's hope my Cruze purchase doesn't lead to the death of Chevrolet. All kidding aside, though, I think it was right to kill those two brands as opposed to all of Chrysler. Chrysler going under would have put a lot more people out of work than two brands dying plus I am a firm believer having fewer brands will make GM stronger. Much like you (and many other people) I was surprised they picked Buick over Pontiac but all I can say about that is... China. Do you really think the Durango is dull inside and out? To each their own, I guess. I personally feel it is one of the better looking SUV's on the market right now. The interior isn't as nice as the GC's but it's still pretty nice. Out of curiosity, what do you like better for the price? As dfelt stated the current generation GC and Durango were actually started under Cerberus. They both are huge improvements over their predecessors IMO and the MY14 refresh enhanced them both even more. If you are bored one day, you may want to swing by your local dealership and check a Durango out. You may still hate it but I wouldn't be surprised if you wound up liking it. Either way, it is always fun to stop at the dealership and check new cars out! -
That instrument panel is essentially the same one they have been using since 2004. I know because I worked on the interior back then. It basically looks the same other then the center stack. They definitely weren't bad trucks at all when they were first launch but it appears as though time has passed them by (a while ago) and the new truck can't get here fast enough.

Chevrolet News:Spying: Chevrolet Cruze, Take 2
2QuickZ's replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
I also thought Focus the first time seeing the front end. I do like it more than the nose on my Cruze, though. The rear... not so much. It isn't offensive or ugly but it isn't a thing of beauty either. -
Fiat News: Sergio Marchionne Asks You To Pass On The Fiat 500e
2QuickZ's replied to William Maley's topic in Fiat
Alright, I can obviously sense you are a FCA hater from your many, many posts but you are just plain wrong on the Durango. Wrong, wrong, wrong. It is consistently rated very well by all the car mags, FCA is selling quite a few of them and everybody I know that has one LOVES it. That includes my sister-in-law (pre-refresh 2013) and my parents (post refresh 2014). Perhaps you haven't been in one made since 2011? I personally wouldn't touch one made before that but 2011+ models are very nice. There are a number of FCA products you could rightfully refer to as a disaster but the current Durango is not one of them. -
Well, the dealership appointment went about like I expected it to. They couldn't find anything wrong with it. They found the stored fault (P0113) but couldn't find anything wrong with the O2 sensor. I also asked them to check if there was a newer program for the trans but the answer was no and they took it for a test drive and thought it was fine.
-
Filled up again on Thursday. I'd say 70/30 split with heavy traffic. Average speed per the VIC was 31.x MPH. 503.4 miles on 14.25 gallons = 35.2 MPG. I paid $3.84/gallon which is actually less than regular was thanks to the holiday weekend run up. It threw a engine light on Friday. Per Onstar it is an O2 sensor code. I have an appointment to take it in on Wednesday to see what is going on.

Chrysler News: Fiat Chrysler Warms Up To The Idea Of Hybrids
2QuickZ's replied to William Maley's topic in Chrysler
Exactly! LOVE the idea of a hybrid Tahoe. As far as Fiat goes, for the 500, we already have flashlight batteries, so this should not be a problem. Given the 500's nature as a sorority chic car, perhaps making it run on a cell phone battery would be more appropriate. Eh, I think the sorority chick car is fairly accurate for the regular 500 but around here you see a ton of Abarths and they are all driven by guys. I wonder what the sales split is between the 500, 500 Turbo and Abarth? Those would be some interesting numbers to see.- 11 replies

Massachusetts proposes taxing by miles driven
2QuickZ's replied to balthazar's topic in Industry News
The economy in Michigan was pretty bad for a while but it has rebounded and even property values are coming back in a big way. The problem right now isn't so much the economy as it is politics. Tax increase is verboten in a completely Republican controlled state (thanks redistricting!) and they pretty much have full control to implement their agenda which does not include any serious effort to fix the roads. I think they are too busy fighting a new international border crossing where all the money is being fronted by Canada because they are afraid something might no go according to plan and the state may have to pay something out of our own pocket. Plus Matty Moroun has deep pockets to pay them all off to fight it. In case you don't know good ol' Matty, he is the owner of what I believe is the only privately held border crossing in the U.S. He is using his money to convince our fine upstanding legislators that any new border crossing between Michigan and Ontario should also be privately held. --EDIT: Okay, apparently it isn't the only one. See the newly attached links if interested in more info-- On the plus side, they actually took a public beating for trying to give surplus tax money back so it looks like now they may decide to spend it on some road resurfacing instead. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/12/us/12bridge.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0 http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2012-05-03/matty-moroun-detroits-border-baron http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=10241088 -
Massachusetts proposes taxing by miles driven
2QuickZ's replied to balthazar's topic in Industry News
With such an amazing country to see, why would you want people to drive less? This is cast system thinking of keep people in their place. Politicians from either party are idiots as they only think of themselves and never truly work for the people. Term limits and accountability need to be instilled into our gov again. +1 for your post as I pretty much agree with everything in it. [rant] We definitely need term limits. I actually voted against ALL incumbents a couple of elections ago as a protest, not that it did any good. The average uninformed American voter just checks the box for the name they recognize. While we are at it, why not reform the primary setup so we don't keep getting these radical candidates from each side? It makes it hard for an independent moderate like me to pick a "good" candidate. I can't recall a recent election where I didn't feel I was choosing between dumb and dumber. I don't get to vote for a good candidate, just a less bad one. [/rant] I strictly meant the drive less in terms of people's proximity to work, not in regard to recreational driving. The Michigan tourism folks (Pure Michigan anyone?) would not be real happy with discouraging tourism. -
Massachusetts proposes taxing by miles driven
2QuickZ's replied to balthazar's topic in Industry News
the percent rate would be a sales tax.... just like most everything else has. when i started driving a gallon was ~$1. at a ~$.18 per gallon federal and $.17 for missouri. so if it was a percent.... Mo's would be ~26% federal would be 27.7% today in IL gas is ~$3.65 - the taxes = ~$3.30. make them percentages...3.3 * ~1.53 = $5.04. think we'd be complaining about the conditions of the road anymore if that money was going where it was supposed to? yes i simplified and didn't do anything for the state change... http://www.irs.gov.edgesuite-staging.net/pub/irs-soi/00gastax.pdf i think if this happened rural areas would suffer... or walmarts would start poping up in towns with less than 5K people Even a gas tax is a tax on miles driven when you think about it. I guess my thought was it doesn't let the drivers of electrics or hybrids off the hook for paying for the roads they use along with everybody else but also doesn't encourage them to go out and buy a gas guzzler either. My thought is that the gas tax would drop by a similar amount to what could be expected to be recouped via the mileage based tax but not fully so they would get a net revenue gain. Unfortunately I don't have the right answer but I can say that doing nothing is definitely not it. -
Massachusetts proposes taxing by miles driven
2QuickZ's replied to balthazar's topic in Industry News
All I know is they need to do something here in Michigan as our roads look like they were carpet bombed by a B52. It is an absolute embarrassment. The Rebublicans in control were going to try and give some surplus tax money back but some many people have been shouting about the roads I think they have finally decided the money would be spent repairing our dismal roads. I personally think a mixed gas/mileage based system would make the most sense as it would still encourage people to shift toward more fuel efficient vehicles while also encouraging them to drive less. What would constitute a reasonable tax rate is another matter entirely. -
Well, unfortunately as the weather has gotten warmer the traffic has gotten much worse and I am stuck in stop and go every day on the way home. Here is where I stand now: Tank #6 = 36.3 MPG on a 70/30 split. More highway this tank but far worse traffic off the highway. Tank #7 = 513.8 miles x 14.198 gallons = 36.19 MPG. EVIC said 30.6 MPH average. Back to an 80/20 split but again, traffic has sucked thanks to I-96 being closed for the summer. There was a little A/C usage on this tank as well. The good news is I only paid $3.849/gallon which is actually only slightly more than mid-grade here right now. Thanks to the traffic scenario, I think this is going to be my typical econ for the summer. We are going to take a trip to either Virginia Beach or Myrtle Beach at the end of June but I don't think I will be able to talk the wife into taking this car. She thinks it's too small for that long of a trip with our two kids in the back seat. I'm betting we wind up renting a minivan.

I don't know, I don't think you have to drop your expectations for my Charger. It has bee a great, trouble free car for the 1.5 years I've had it. My wife even loves it. It is the main reason I considered a Dart. My parents and my sister-in-law both have Durangos (2014 & 2013 respectively) and they both absolutely love them. My Dad, (a GM retiree) loves his Chrysler T&C to. He has had that for 2 years w/out any problems other than maybe a trans cal reflash. Hell, my Mom even loves the T&C and she historically has pretty much hated every vehicle my Dad has ever bought for himself! LOL Obviously Chrysler still has a way to go but I definitely feel like they are on the right path. Pretty much everything they have launched since 2011 has been at least competitive.
