  1. I just wanna know who took the picture of the Compass and made it look like it's really about to go off-roading.
  2. Maybe they waited until they couldn't ignore it anymore.
  3. Mary Kay DTS... in front of a Dollar General store. Dodge SRT4... in black.
  4. Two Silverado SS, one red, one black.
  5. I don't think I knew anyone who had a Vision. I had a friend who had (and I think still has) a first-gen Concorde, though.
  6. She bought it in June or July '05 with 142K on the clock, just because she needed transportation while she was student-teaching. While we were in college, the water pump died, and we found out that the camber on the front tires was off and the car leaked oil. I told my wife (then fiancee) that we would probably be replacing her car after we got married. Fast-forward to September '06. Her car blows a radiator while she's at work. I get it towed to a shop, and they replace the radiator and thermostat, but can't figure out how to get the engine fan to work without the A/C on. I drive it home (a mile) and the car overheats AGAIN, even with the A/C on. We didn't have the funds to take it anywhere else to figure out how to fix the fan, so I declare the car dead. Then our apartment complex tows the car because it had expired Virginia plates on it (we never went to the MVA to transfer her title). No, we haven't tried to get it back either.
  7. I didn't wanna be the one to say it, but
  8. Why, I don't know. They had the Stratus/Sebring for that. My wife had an Intrepid (see the sig), and in no way was that car a midsize. To compare it with one would be as dumb as comparing the current CTS to... oh, never mind.
  9. I just read a post about this on BON. What's with sharing non-automotive topics?
  10. Concorde? Midsized?
  11. 17 or 18. :AH-HA_wink:
  12. I have a friend/classmate from Asheville. I'm gonna ask her about it next chance I get. It sounds like an area that isolated is going through its copycat phase, where kids are acting like they're hard when they're just imitating what they may have seen somewhere else.
  13. Two brand spanking new vehicles... ... Dodge Journey in silver... ... Chevy Tahoe Hybrid.
  14. Was the engine broken in yet?
  15. I don't disagree with you about mounting the engines longitudinally. Which Audi does your mother have, and what year?
  16. Good points. With the way all its cars are built, Acura could really improve its position by focusing on Audi, another company whose platforms are all FWD/AWD. 4's and 6's being FWD, higher-powered engines AWD. Acura already has the standard-equipment edge on most everybody, and the interiors are still rather decent-looking. Now, if only someone could sneak over and steal that ugly stick from Honda HQ, then they could once again get some decent-looking exteriors.
  17. I grew up in Newport News, VA, near the NASA center at Langley which is in Hampton. Hurricanes aren't usually a problem for Hampton Roads... Floyd and Isabel were the worst hurricanes I can remember coming through the area in recent years. Also, summers are more often humid than hot. Winters usually don't bring snow. The area has really started growing more in recent years, and because of that, the cost of living has gone up slightly. It's nowhere near as bad as where I live now though (Baltimore-Washington area). Yearly vehicle inspections are mandated, but inexpensive ($10 or so). Registration and tags aren't expensive either. They only require emissions inspections near DC. Oh, and in various parts of VA they have what are called Highway Safety Corridors, where they monitor speeding more closely and charge higher for tickets.
  18. I think I have seen it, then... and looked through it. I'll probably pick one up next time I'm at B&N.
  19. I had to ask because I did a web search for "Red Book" as it pertained to autos, and it turns out that that's the Aussie equivalent of our Blue Book. Come to think of it, I did see a used-car directory the other day at B&N that listed wholesale prices in it... and it was red. Hmm... The book your uncle gave you, was it paperback?
  20. Self-evidence if I ever saw it.
  21. Do they have Red Book here in the States? Only one I've seen is the Blue Book... that's how I found the actual value of the car at over $10k.
  22. I'll take your word for it, sir.
  23. I did a KBB query and it said the car was worth 10K, but you know how that goes... My trade is actually worth 3K, so in effect I'd be paying less out of pocket. Unfortunately, though, the car wasn't on the lot the last time I drove past.
  24. Moltar, how are you gonna copy my post?
  25. Good topic. Perfect for wasting time this icy afternoon. Chevy C/K1500 Silverado (my daily driver when I first got my license) Cobalt LS (rental on my honeymoon) Impala LTZ (test drive) Cadillac '06 STS (my dad's) Pontiac G6 Base (test drive... unexciting test drive... I wanted to push a V6 and they gave me the SV) Vibe (a friend's... felt like a Toyota but thankfully looked much better inside) Bonneville SLE (test drive... I wanted this car but someone got it by now ) Saturn, GMC, Buick, Oldsmobile, Saab, Suzuki, Isuzu None, actually
