  1. Speaking of Autoblog, they posted a gallery of the live reveal. I maintain my opinion of the silver.
  2. Exterior: I don't quite love it, but I don't despise it. Interior: No complaints whatsoever. Powertrain: Engine output between the Charger R/T and SRT8 is an interesting place to be... which car does it compete with? Also, in natural light, silver does this car NO favors whatsoever. 3. .. that'll buff right out? Or is this the wrong thread?
  4. Well, I did just cheat and ask her. Her response: "I wouldn't mind a new Maxima." So there's that.
  5. You underestimate the practical nature of a wife, mother, and teacher all wrapped up into one woman who cares about as much for cars as I do for most reality TV.
  6. You just made this question real hard, since I have no idea what kind of cars she actually likes or wants. So I'll go with a new Town and Country.
  7. There's a reason for that, I'm sure.
  8. Some of those states, like NJ, WV, and SC, have only been drive-through states on the way to my final destinations. With my current car, anyway.
  9. I guess we should distinguish "size class" from "market segment" then, as they're not the same thing anymore. You're right, though... size classes are changing as everything is getting bigger, especially cars in the midsize segment. Sonata's not that much smaller than Azera, and Altima is actually bigger than Maxima in most dimensions IIRC. I still chuckle when I think about how my wife's Maxima was classified as a "full-size" car in 1999.
  10. And yet the Passat's down on interior volume by about 4.4 cu ft to the Taurus. Wonder where the space went... must be due to the width difference. Now for fun, I looked up the Fusion's interior numbers, and most of the measurements are greater than those of the Passat (only rear legroom and shoulder room are less). Are we going to call the Fusion a Taurus competitor too?
  11. Bad news: Now you'll never get to know that secretary...
  12. You think so? I sat in both, and the Taurus still feels more spacious, at least in the driver's seat. That said, the Taurus does have some weird angles inside that intrude in odd places. Also, though it's not here, VW still has the Phaeton in the portfolio as the company full-sizer. I'd say that the Passat is still there as the midsizer, both in starting price and engine offerings. (And yeah, exterior size...)
  13. Passat Accord If you're going to leave off the Lacrosse and Cadenza, then the Azera should go too. Passat and Accord don't list the aforementioned as their competitors, so I didn't mention. They're very much still in the midsize market... like the 6-foot-tall kid on the 5th grade basketball team. I left off the LaCrosse because of the Impala, and I left off the Cadenza in favor of the Azera.
  14. I like it because of what it is, which is a fullsize RWD sedan that's gonna hit our shores. But the exterior styling reminds me of quite a few other cars at once.
  15. (Bad news: Turbojett quoted the wrong person. ) On-topic bad news: We really don't know where that boy toy is now...
  16. True... but I left off the Cadenza for the same reason I left off the LaCrosse.
  17. You got it, man. BTW, I'd like a comparo of all the FWD full-size sedans. Taurus, Impala, Azera, Maxima, Avalon... and I'm sure I'm forgetting one.
  18. Indeed, good sir. The only Ford FWDer to get the 3.7 is the Edge Sport, IIRC.
  19. FTFY.
  20. Good news: You dodged a huge bullet since she has - unbeknownst to you - MAJOR control issues.
  21. Those are huge advantages, given that everyone's fighting against distracted driving these days... lawmakers and manufacturers alike. Third advantage: Mobile data plans ain't as cheap as they used to be.
  22. In other words, the Impala will finally be catching up to Corolla? As nav systems have come down in price (which many have), OhStar TBT has looked less and less appealing. Especially to those like me who prefer having dynamic maps.
  23. Once I updated my wife's phone, I had to let go of the unlimited data. But if it's slower, then maybe it's ok. I agree with you about the dedicated nav. My next vehicle will have it, either stock or aftermarket. I do like Google Maps on my phone, but it's rather inconvenient while I drive.
  24. The interior may look spartan in pictures, but in person IMO it's way beyond what you would find in a 20K vehicle.
  25. ADDENDUM per Camino's question earlier: The S60 Polestar concept DOES have a manual. If it makes it to production, then there's hope for the row-your-own crew.
