All this talk about the Cobalt has pulled me onto the bandwagon. I've been working with the following scenerio... Pick up a Cobalt coupe within 0.5-1.5 years in order to... 1) park the SS 2) save $$ on gas (more efficient and doesn't require premium fuel) 3) save $$ on insurance ...and most important... 4) save $$ towards a new Camaro in '09,'10. The question is, can I work with an LT or will I cave and get the extra 30-some horsepower with the SS (non-SC, uses regular fuel)? The LT's price (MSRP) is right, but my family's GM card earnings and good friends at the dealership could make the SS a possibility. I think I'll have a better idea of what to do come summer. Right now I want the car, but my dad wants me to invest in a condo...
  3. The nerd in me must chime in... ... True the cables are designed with a factor of safety, and corrosion is probably the culprit. But! Why are you stating values for modulus of RIGIDITY, when this failure is occuring in TENSION (not bending)? That being the case, you should be stating values for modulus of ELASTICITY (a.k.a. Young's Modulus).
  4. Really? Where? I checked some website and it showed none in So Cal, just up north at the national labs and Berkeley.
  5. Saab already did this.
  6. Remember that the Tahoe's third row only came about because CUSTOMERS asked for it. People wanted Tahoe size with the occasional Suburban seating capacity. So, is it really a con to give people what they want? No. Do people still buy Tahoes with the third row regardless of the compromised seating area? Yes. Why? Because that is what they want. If you really need to seat 8 people comfortably and carry all their things (like you would on a road trip), then everything you mentioned as having a more user friendly third row is out of the question. Your only option is... a Suburban! It all works out so nice doesn't it?
  7. while we're at it... what happened to Harley?
  8. Sure... but what side of the car was the pole on (driver or passenger)? This pic is almost as bad as ones I saw of a '97 Z28 that some guy drove into a well (comitted suicide).
  9. Wierd... Assael BMW, which is right next to the Saturn dealership in Monrovia, used to sell Mazda and Buick... oh well... You think Saturn will move in with Sierra Chevrolet once Isuzu is dropped?
  10. Wow... a Hollywood producer couldn't write a better storyline...
  11. So, is this the Sonnet concept that we have been waiting to see? I like the interior, and the cockpit idea is cool (but can you imagine opening it when it's raining, ie. never see it in production). And... I also see tons of the Saturn concept in the front end.
  12. All good news... especially for knightfan and Camino
  13. Very nice! Glad to see a fellow SS on the board

  15. Those bastards!!! I should have picked up a set when they were still $400!
  16. Good choice NOS, I'm an ME myself I hope you are looking forward to the boat-loads of math! Have fun, but don't let the frat life get in the way of the important classes (math, engineering, design). It's ok if you ditch the general ed. classes once in a while :AH-HA_wink:
  17. And... how did you answer???

  19. If I remember correctly... SLP was selling my wheels: $400 for the set of 4!
  20. I've seen the same kinda camo'd MB ?-class twice on the 605 around Garden Grove.
  21. Same goes for my PowerBook G4... I used to have the same opinions about Macs (wierd, stupid etc.) until my advisor got me the PowerBook to work on. Like empowah said, these things have awesome fit-and-finish etc. My previous laptop, a Vaio, felt so flimsy and cheap compared to the Mac. So what if it takes a little getting used to OSX and the software in general, it's worth it. So worth it that I replaced our PC at home with an iMac (pre Intel). As far as the price... it is quite an initial hurdle to get over, but what can you do...
  22. It would be cool to integrate this with existing navigation units/screens, but isn't the whole point of this feature that you don't need to have a car with a NAV screen?
