  1. 1st Place: GMC (use to be tied with Pontiac) 2nd Place: Jeep (though I've never owned one, it's likely the only manufacturer I'd purchase from outside of GM) 3rd Place: TIE between Ford (though the 'big mouthed bass' look with its new cars is making me question this choice) and RAM Trucks

  4. I totally understand where you're coming from, 67impss. I don't have the $$$ like that to throw away on a money pit. Even though I really like the black '85 Sierra Classic 4WD, I think it would be too much of a project for me (plus it can't be driven & enjoyed right away). The '84 is in excellent drivable condition (well, from the seller's story) and can be showed off at local car shows & cruises until the time comes for a more thorough resto job is needed. Downside is the seller will be out of state until Saturday night and Sunday we're taking the kiddies to Sesame Place (unless I can get there before the park opens). I don't know if I will see it this weekend.
  5. I'm not a fan of the '59 Pontiac line-up ('55-'58 are my favs), and mildly like the '60 Ponchos. However, the '61 and '62 Pontiacs are truly dream cars for me (I think I like the '61s better, but wouldn't refuse a '62). I've just recently started to admire the '63s, though I'm not a fan of the '64s through '67s. 1968 & up is when I truly admire Pontiac again. :lovey: :lovey:
  6. I'll have to go visit the dealership in Langhorne, PA in the next couple of weeks to see if they have a car on display (and a brochure I can bring home).
  7. After sitting on these three Sierras for a while and then going back to re-read the descriptions, I think the red '85 High Sierra K-1500 4WD would need the most work, as from the pictures one can see the amount of rust on the body (I could only imagine what the underside looks like). A good total restoration project, but way out of my scope. The black '85 Sierra Classic K-1500 4WD needs a majority of the project cash towards the engine, and then the rest of the truck. A potential project, but again I think out of my scope for what I want. A shame as I've always desired a regular cab, short bed Sierra of this vintage. Which leads me to the '84 Sierra Classic C-1500 2WD... I emailed the seller for pictures, which he provided: INTERIOR EXTERIOR Craigslist ad: That is one clean and well-cared for GMC pickup. I emailed the seller back asking if I can come see it Saturday morning

  9. I am definitely a lover of all things GMC Trucks, but there are certain generations of pickups I desire to own. My most desired pickup generations include 1955-1959 (with an emphasis on '55-'57), 1967-1972, and 1973-1987. The '50s GMCs are just too darn expensive to restore, as not all parts are shared with Chevy Trucks (engines & transmissions from Pontiac with GMC truck parts used)... and the same could be said for the late '60s - early '70s trucks too, though more parts are now shared with Chevy Trucks. The killer for me with most of those two generations is the entry price to get one. The values on those trucks are steadily climbing. While at the AACA show Hershey I saw many of the '73-'87 models in one way or the other (though not too many show vehicles), and these were the trucks I grew up with and rode in. Prices on these are not too outrageous yet, as they are not quite 40 years old (in 2013 the '73s will be the first to enter that milestone) - I have noticed that once vehicles turn 40 collectors keep watch and start grabbing up the market. As such, I think an'80s GMC Sierra that could be registered as a classic would be an ideal starting point for me. 1985 GMC K-1500 High Sierra - red http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/2652738080.html - I've always been a big fan of the regular cab, short bed, 4x4 pickups, and this one could fit the bill. Requires a little more body work then I'd like, but replacement parts are readily available. 1985 GMC K-1500 Sierra Classic - black http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/2653273484.html - Engine work could be a bad thing, taking a lot of project money. But again, as stated above, short bed & 4x4 are pluses! 1984 GMC C-1500 Sierra Classic - two-tone metallic brown & tan http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/2639507218.html - Not being a 4x4 is a minus, but being two-toned in a great '80s combo (dark brown & light tan), and being a 2-owner, well-cared for LOADED truck is tempting. The big pro's for all of these trucks are the entry price... all in a range I *could* possibly handle....
  10. Please post the list(s), please. I like to be on the lookout for the new models! Johnny Lightning is making some cool small die-cast vehicles that you typically would never expect to see.
  11. As Camino always points out, and I agree with his way of thinking, variety is the spice of life. It would be nice to have coupe versions of the Cruze and Malibu at Chevrolet (in addition to the Camaro) and the Regal at Buick (and a 3-door hatch for the Verano). I don't agree that only the wealthy should have variety at Cadillac. However, I understand the General doesn't have the cash for EVERYTHING it wants on-market now, so I'd be willing to wait a couple of years (couple as in two, maybe three years).
  12. Happy belated Birthday, black-knight!!
  13. Happy belated Birthday, WMJ!!

  15. Is there a web site for this show with information? I'd like to add it to my list so when I prepare my car & truck show calendar in January/February I can be sure to include this show for 2012!
  16. Pretty close, which I too didn't know. Thanks for posting this information! (btw, didn't you already go this route? I vote for another Sierra!! You know, this is usually how you announce you're shopping again )
  17. Oh I tell ocnblu this every time he mention he wants to buy a new car, but he never listens to me As for the suggestions of keeping the Cruze and adding a truck (be it a Wrangler or whatever), I believe he has stated that his financials won't allow for a second vehicle. His desire for a car stems from his desire not to pay through the roof for fuel on a daily basis (cars give him the financial security he needs). I think he should enjoy the Cruze for now and wait until the new Chevrolet Colorado (or the GMC Canyon replacement) comes to market here in the gool ol' USA. The new one should offer better gas mileage over the current truck.

  19. Thanks for the information guys, and balthazar for your offer! I may just take you up on it As for the ornament, only the deluxe-trimmed models received chrome plated hood ornaments, otherwise they came standard as painted white with the inside of the letters red. I did find a chrome plating shop in Philadelphia that was a vendor at the AACA show, and it is a consideration (I have a '55-'56 GMC hood ornament and grille backing that I want to plate first). This one I bought looks to be an original painted one (painted over blue, which is now coming off), as no shiny parts are visible front or rear. I will let you know soon balthazar!
  20. I purchased this wonderful GMC hood ornament while at the AACA show last weekend in Hershey, which I'm pegging to be from '58 or '59 and from a heavy duty truck (not the 1/2 ton to 1-ton models). I'd love to get it sandblasted so I can repaint it in the traditional colors of white with red centers (assuming I don't go for rechroming). Would a typical neighborhood body shop offer sandblasting services? Or would I have to find a restoration shop instead? Sorry, forgot to include the picture:
  21. Well, I believe by 2015 our credit situation should have greatly improved and the Envoy should be nearly paid off (I want to pay it off early). Hopefully the employment situation has also improved enough that I can take on a loan of that magnitude, and make the subsequent payments. The new GMC Sierra's should be on market close to two years at that time (assuming the 2014 redesign models go on sale in 2013), so that's usually a good time to order a new model. Patience, though, is going to be the tough part (I've dreamt of owning a regular cab Sierra for over two decades now!). If I've waited this long, what's three & 1/2 more years???
  22. As much as I'm pining for that '05 Sierra above, after seeing this last Friday: I owe it to myself to one-day soon (maybe 2015?) to place a custom order for the exact one I want and be the first owner of it
  23. Plus you can't take an Equinox or Terrain too far off-road without compromising your mobility. They are street-CUVs with AWD to handle weather issues more than they are equipped to handle country back roads and off street driving. Here' where the new Colorado-based SUV will come in handy. Think of the small-acre farmer, landscaper, family outdoor enthusiast that is looking for a true part-time 4WD SUV to haul family, gear and equipment for a weekend getaway. How many Equinoxes and Terrains do you see filling that duty? I see them in mall/shopping center parking lots 90% of the time
  24. So it's back on eBay, the last "buyer" not coughing up the dough. So now I have to ask, who here is by Muscatine, IA???
