  1. Also, looks like the Buick & GMC are keeping separate body shells still. The Enclave looks to continue with its rounded roof shape, and the Acadia appears to keep its more straight-lined shape (my fear was that with the demise of the Outlook, which the Acadia shared its shell with, that the Enclave/Traverse shell would be used by the Acadia in this MCE). I am wondering with the shape of the rear tail lamps if GMC took over the Outlook shell and is applying GMC infused styling to that?
  2. Really, interior redesign, exterior updating, suspension upgrades and powertrain tweaks are all that is needed to keep these big CUVs fresh for another two model years. However, it would have been nice if this was done for 2010 or 2011, but I know - the bankruptcy postponed a lot of plans.

Since we had a ride in one at the 2011 NYIAS in April, and then each the chance to drive on in August at the Philadelphia GM Main Street in Motion event, the wife and I would be happy to call a Chevrolet Volt our daily driver to work Monday through Friday. I just don't know if the rewards would be that great for our one-way commute of 33 miles (against say a Cruze LTZ or a Verano).
  5. The tail lights of the Acadia remind me of the Saturn Outlook's design (which I liked better than the Acadia's anyway). I'm getting a Sierra-vibe from the headlight design, though it is hard to tell at this point (it would be a shame that the Acadia would have more Sierra styling in the headlights than the Yukon variants). I'm liking where the Acadia is going with this MCE so far, though it's too early to make any major calls. The Enclave is still classy looking now, and this MCE should make it only better!

  8. I found out about this show too late, as I'm a little less than 2 hours away from Hershey. My wife was flying out of the country for business that day, so needless to say I couldn't take the trip out west. Do you know this year's date? I need to work on my 2012 car & truck show calendar, which I usually have started by now.
  9. The old Gast Museum? I've seen four Tuckers in person to date.. My first sighting was at Gast in Strasburg, PA (no longer there) - that one (#1024/Waltz Blue) is now in Lincoln, Nebraska http://www.tuckerclu...ar_number=1024; an unklnown silver one at the 1991 AACA Show in Hershey; #1030/Black at Petersen's Museum (LA) in 1997 http://www.tuckerclu...ar_number=1030; and 1013/Light Blue at the Philly Auto Show a couple years back (this belongs to teh Swigart Museum outside of Carlisle, PA - they also have the pre=production "Tin Goose" which I have yet to see - [urlhttp://www.tuckerclub.org/html/display_car.php?car_number=Tin%20Goose&[/url]) - http://www.tuckerclu...ar_number=1013; unofficially I have a 5th sighting, of the controversial Tucker Convertible (#1057), seen at the 2010 AACA Show in Hershey. There's a guy up north NJ that has #1051 - http://www.tuckerclu...ar_number=1051 - that was not completed originally in the factory but was made up of leftover parts from the original production run. I've written to the gentleman about 3-4 years ago, but he never gets down south NJ and he didn't invite me to his place to see the car in person.

  15. Yup, after looking my post over I saw that the tailgate said "LT" and noticed the body-color parts. I retracted my Z71 remark; maybe you saw that? I love those tires... will keep them in mind for future truck needs I love the look of the Liberty Jet, but to be honest I don't think I will be putting any seat time in one (outside of the upcoming Philly Auto Show). I definitely want a pickup truck next purchase - and if I'm able to hold onto the Envoy for family duty I definitely don't want another SUV (I'll only go SUV if I replace the Envoy). I'm hoping that the upcoming Chicago show presents a show truck version of the GMC Canyon replacement. I like the new Colorado but agree that the frontend styling is a deal killer (much like the Equinox vs. the Terrain for me). I'm hoping the MCE Acadia and Canyon replacement have more 2011 Sierra HD All Terrain concept looking frontend styling and that the Terrain benefits from a MCE soon after with the same styling.

  17. Cool finds, Cubical. The '68 El Camino was also offered in Black/Gold and Orange/Black that way in 2011 (I bought the purple one recently too, for my daughter).   18. And remember this.. a consumer who NEEDS the space/capabilities/functions of a full-size pickup will not consider anything small. A person that WANTS a full-size (their preference) but does not NEED the space/capabilities/functions of a full-size pickup will be drawn to the benefits of the new smaller pickup. The guy who owns horses and needs to pull his horse trailer? FULL-SIZE PICKUP The guy who owns 1 or 2 small ATVs for occasional weekend fun? Potential COMPACT PICKUP The guy that hauls building supplies for his construction business? FULL-SIZE PICKUP The guy that does DIY home projects a couple of times a year? Potential COMPACT PICKUP And again I'll repeat myself - no one that is looking to buy a CREW CAB Canyon or Colorado is going to find a great deal (outside of a fire sale) on a Sierra or Silverado CREW CAB equipped the same way. There's like a $10k difference in price. I'm tired of all these apples-to-oranges comparisons of someone looking at a regular or extended cab Canyon/Colorado being told to buy a regular cab pickup because they're the same price

Look how many people are abandoning the large car segment for mid- and compact-sized cars... could be that it's expected that many full-size pickup purchases may become mid-size (compact) instead... sort of like those going from a LaCrosse to a Regal (or Regal to Verano). This may also open up the market in 5-10 years for the return of the true compact pickup (i.e. S10-Sonoma-LUV pickups). People aren't abandoning the large car market. The models in each respective segment are growing so there is a psychological trick that is being played. People who trade in their '91 Accord on a 2011 Civic didn't go down a size. They stayed the same. People who trade their '94 Taurus in on a Fusion didn't go down a size, they stayed the same. People who trade their Contour in on a Focus didn't go down a size, they stayed the same. People who trade their 98 Avalon in on a Camry haven't gone down a size... well... you get the picture. I agree 100% with your logic, BUT many of the people I know and reference aren't coming out of ancient cars. Most are coming out of 3-6 year old cars (like an '05 Ford 500 owner going to a Focus). How about the people coming out late-model Lucernes, Crown Vics/Marquis/Town Cars, 300s, et al for Regals, Malibus, Fiestas, Focuses, Cruzes, Sonics, and so on? A lot of my neighbors replacing their cars lately are going to smaller cars from their larger ones (and the same with SUVs - from Yukons & Tahoes to Equinoxes and Terrains, from Expeditions to Edges, and so on). People are choosing smaller vehicles from their previous purchase, mainly due to higher gas prices. I'm not arguing with you, just pointing out what I'm seeing in my area.

  23. If they could cut down the obesity of the Silverado by 1000-1500lbs, then maybe the base model could have a turbo 4...and isn't the standard engine in the Silverado the 4.3 V6? It is.. though most dealers bring in pickups with the optional 4.8L V8 engine (the V6's are reserved for the dealer newspaper ads to bring in floor traffic)
